If one didn't know
any better, Mark Twain
himself made a visit to the

For those who did know
better, however; the man
standing in front of the
crowd gathered in the
library's basement was
actually Mark Dawidziak,
Mark Twain impersonator.
Clad in all white with a cigar
in hand, he gave comical
advice on everything from
health and diet to happiness
as Twain. As himself,
he offered historical
information and answers
to audience members'
questions about the literary
giant.
Dawidziak told the
audience he has been
impersonating Twain since
he was 22, marking more

and high school,"
W-G Superintendent
Chris Pfister said
after the meeting. "In
combination with her
teaching experience,
her administrative
experience and her
overall character, I
think she will help us
move the instructional
program forward."
Diglia's contract
is for two years at a
salary of $72,000 per
year, which will go into
effect on Aug. 3. She
was hired following
the departure of T.J.
Winkler, who had
served as middle/high
school principal for the
last 13 years. Winkler,
who announced his
departure in May, has
accepted a principal
position at West Middle
School in Lima.
"I just want to say
T.J.'s been wonderful
working with me,
giving me pointers
and helping me get
a feel for it so I really
appreciate everything
you've done," Diglia
said during Monday's
meeting.
Prior to serving
as the director
of curriculum at
Lincolnview, Diglia
was the principal and
assistant principal at
Shawnee High School
for eight years.
According to a press
release, Diglia also
has years of teaching
experience in science,
math, English and
social studies, and
was selected as the
teacher-in-residence
at the BP Refinery
and Chemical Plant
to facilitate schoolindustry partnerships
to increase science
learning across Allen
County school districts.
She is also a licensed
literacy specialist and
has assisted other
districts with literacy
initiatives, the press
release states. Diglia
recently served on
a team that wrote a
successful Straight A
Grant and is currently
assisting with the
implementation of a 1:1
computing program at
Lincolnview.
"I think she will help
us increase academic
achievement, I think
she will be very good
working with our
teachers — helping
them grow — working
with instructional
practices, formative
assessment and student
data," Pfister said.
Diglia beat out 36
other candidates who
had applied for the
position. Pfister said
what set her a part
was her emphasis on
helping students grow.
"When I said to her,
'tell me your vision for
our middle school and
high school,' she rattled
off everything that
was tied to students,"
Pfister said. "She had a
beautiful explanation
of how she wanted to
take all students from
where they are to where
they need to be. She
talked about focusing
on students and how
she wants to help all
children achieve to the
highest level possible.
It was all studentcentered.
"I think that was the
real key for me."
