We are delighted to welcome again for a 3rd consecutive edition in Cannes the NEW
CHINESE FILM TALENTS FUND FORUM, jointly established in 2013 by Champs Lis
International and the Marché du Film - Festival de Cannes.
After a final selection operated by world respected professionals, these projects have been
accompanied for the preparation of their pitch by French producer Christophe Bruncher
(Ici et Là Productions) and Italian producer and pitching expert Stefano Tealdi (Stefilm
International) during a workshop held last March in Beijing and in Cannes over the last days.
The NEW CHINESE FILM TALENTS FUND FORUM aims at encouraging and supporting
promising young Chinese filmmakers in their understanding of the global cinema
marketplace, of the commercial requirements of the film industry and of their approach of
the international production business.
Since its inception, three of the projects have been produced and are about to be released,
namely: DINOSAUR PICO by LIU Kexin (NCFTFF 2014), BEIJING CARMEN by WANG Fan
(NCFTFF 2013) and MOUNTAIN CRY by YANG Zi - aka Larry YANG (NCFTFF 2014).
We invite you to come and discover these new Chinese talents in Cannes and hopefully
follow-up with them for a meeting after the pitching session.

SYNOPSIS :
Leon has a white feather, which he claims to
have been given to him by God to find an angel,
lost in the human world. Despite rarely being
taken seriously, he keeps telling this story to
everyone he meets. On week-ends, Leon
searches all over town for the angel, waiting in
every corner where it might possibly appear.
Thus far, no one has appeared and his efforts
always end in vain.
Whilst talking with colleagues at work
about girlfriends, destiny finds its moment.
The memories of his ex-girlfriend Jane and the
good times they lost, which he had deliberately
forgotten, come rushing back to Leon. He
realizes that the angel he has been searching
and waiting for has always been Jane. Jane:
the girl who left him without any explanation.
When he learns of Jane’s imminent wedding,
Leon decides to see her once again. He meets
her in a magnificent restaurant. Jane is wearing
expensive jewelry and Leon feels inferior to her.
Nevertheless, he walks up to her and asks her
why she left. She tells him it is all in the past
and that it would be better if he forgot about
her, for she is not his angel.
DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY
Since 2004, HUANG has devoted himself to directing and producing films with
great enthusiasm. He is an experienced director, acquiring great management
and other skills on-site. He is an expert in story-telling through the camera. His
complex life story gives him a unique and in-depth vision of art. He is the author
of many interesting stories. The screenplay of My Angel started back in 2006. It is

SYNOPSIS :
Han Ye is a senior high school student majoring
in painting. Due to genetic reasons, he is
color-blind just as his late father. His world is
not colorful but mostly black and white.
To stimulate his visual sense, his mother Wu Ji
always wears bright-colored clothes,
particularly a red coat.
Han Ye falls in love with his classmate Bai Bing,
not only for her beauty and body, but also
because she always wears a red coat. When he
opens his heart to Bai Bing, she rejects him.
With a broken heart, he starts contacting #23
through an illegal erotic call service line.
The lady #23, with her soft and tender words,
teaches him the pleasures of carnal love, and
he discovers his colorful world.
The service is quite expensive and Han Ye starts
robbing at a nightclub. One day he sees a
woman with a red coat fighting with a mid-aged
man in front of the club. He hits the man and
finds out the woman is his beloved Bai Bing who
is forced into prostitution to pay back the debts
of her drug addicted father, the man he has just
beaten up. Han Ye feels really depressed.
Back at home, he calls #23 again. He asks her
for a date but she refuses. He tells her to leave
as he overheard that she will soon be caught by
the police. She is quite touched and accepts to
meet him, but she does not want to let him know
what she looks like.
When Han Ye goes to the meeting place, he finds
a painting with a woman in red coat. Although he
rushes out to find #23, he can only see a woman
with a red coat getting up into a car. She is like
Bai Bing and also like his mother, Wu Ji. From
that moment, he loses the only red in his world.
DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY
XIA Hao, youth director of Xi’an Film Studio. He was an actor and then studied
with the renowned director Mr. Wang Quanan. He has worked for Mr. Zhang
Yimou, Mr. Wang Quanan, Mr. Tung-Shing Yee, Mr. Woo Ping Yuen, Mr. Hark Tsui,
Mr. Karwai Wong amongst others. He was involved in the production of the epic
film White Deer, and has cooperated for 5 years with the director Karwai Wong for
the movie The Grand Masters. He has also been nominated among the global top
30 directors at the Cui Yongyuan’s New Director Plan. His micro film Confession has been awarded
Best Micro Film at the 1ST Silk Road Film Festival.

SYNOPSIS :
A drifter, Susan works at the newspaper
One Night in Beijing. One of her jobs is to attend
social events in Beijing and get to know
different people. But beneath this glamorous
mask, Susan misses her ex Lim and longs for
the chance to see him again. She still plays
the game they once played: “choose a stranger
every day and talk to them”, and completes her
wish list of “ten new things every year”.
Through this game, Susan meets the executive
Anne, ‘The Officiallings’ Cici, restaurant boss
Chen and his girlfriend, the king of the
entertainment Xiaofei, as well as a crowd of
strange men.
Meanwhile, Susan reflects back on her life
in Paris with her ex Lim every day. She thinks
over everything that happened, wondering what
she did wrong and why Lim disappeared
so suddenly. How long will it take before you
learn to let go?
Finally, it becomes clear to Susan that love does
not mean possession but accomplishment.
One Night in Beijing. We all come together, each
bringing our own stories as we meet new faces.
DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY
Tammy is the author of nine novels and several Amazon.cn bestsellers.
Her most significant works include One Night in Beijing and How to Be Single.
She pursued further studies in scriptwriting and directing and has shot short
films and worked as AD for Legendary: Tomb of the Dragon.

SYNOPSIS :
Chen is a down-and-out Chinese film
screenwriter who came to Hollywood to try
his luck. When his visa is about to expire, he
arranges a fake marriage with a stripper.
Unfortunately, the bride is killed in a car crash
on the wedding night, leaving her 14-year-old
daughter Ashley and $300,000 in debt behind.
As Chen is unwilling to be deported and Ashley
is reluctant to be sent to a foster home, they
leave together on a runaway journey filled with
realistic adventures and imaginative illusion.
Intrigued by Chen’s game script draft she finds in
their pick-up truck, Ashley’s creativity is set off.
She starts replacing all characters in the script
with real people they encounter along the way:
an attractive woman who seduces Chen and
steals their truck and a powerful gangster, who
saves Ashley and a dwarf, and, courageous for
love, resolves the resentment between the
woman and Chen…
The people they meet and the things they run
up against not only influence the storyline of the
fictional game script, but also change the
once-conceited Chen in real life.
Affection gradually grows in Ashley’s heart… He
realizes that Ashley deserves a better life and
decides to give up his guardianship of Ashley,
meaning he would be deported and his
Hollywood dream abandoned.
DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1987, GAO has worked as executive director of Piano in A Factory.
His film Only Walk has won a series of awards and nominations, including:
the 15th Shanghai Film Festival Media Award’s Best Actress Prize, Best New
Director and Best Supporting Actress nominations; the 4th Macau Film Festival
Golden Lotus New Director Award, and Best Feature Film and Best Director
nominations; the 3rd New York China Film Festival’s Favorite Artist Award;
the 1st Western Students Film Festival’s Best Feature Film Award. His microfilm A Thief with No
Belief won Best Online Movie Creation Award at the 19th Beijing Students Film Festival, Best Short
Film Award at the 9th Sino-U.S. Golden Angel Film Festival, and the Favorite Short Film award at
Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Short Film event.

SYNOPSIS :
One day, Cartew receives an unexpected gift.
He finds himself with a postman’s bag that was
once carried by his father, before he died six
years ago. In the bag are ten letters, all
undelivered. Cartew embarks on a journey to
deliver the letters. He sets off for the island of
Lisi’ao, where he spent his childhood,
accompanied by his friend Mary. As if someone
has put a spell on the envelopes, the letters
bring regret, surprise, happiness or misery,
and change the lives of their receivers.
Secrets of Lisi’ao slowly reveal themselves as
Cartew successfully delivers one letter after
another. He now has to make a decision:
whether to go on or give up on his mission.
Even Mary, who has been with him throughout
his journey, is also keeping a secret from him.
Throughout his journey, Cartew has been
searching for a magical lighthouse his father
told him about long ago. But when everyone
denies the existence of the lighthouse, what
should Cartew do next?

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY
Graduating from Beijing Film Acadamy, ZHUANG is a young director who focuses
on creating imaginative films on the themes of children and growing up. Famous
director TIAN Zhuangzhuang mentored his graduation piece, Dying to Get Married.
The film has won a series of awards at the 2nd Cherry Blossom Film Festival and
the 5th Young Talents Film Festival, amongst others. His other short film Where is
My Doraemon has won around 20 awards both at home and abroad including
a Silver Award at Carnegie Mellon Film Festival. In 2013, he was recruited for the 5th Golden Horse
Film Academy, where he worked closely with famous director Hsiao-hsien HOU and co-directed
the film A Stray with him. In 2014, his first feature film screenplay Five Missing Kisses was selected
for the 51th Taipei Golden Horse Awards – Film Project Promotion program.

SYNOPSIS :
It is March, when everything starts to grow and
bloom. The Argali sheep are celebrating the
birth of a son to their king and queen at the foot
of a snowy mountain.
Suddenly, the cheerful atmosphere is disrupted.
A hungry, black she-wolf wants to attack the
sheep. The king leads the argali up a high hill,
but the toddling prince is unable to follow. He
has not yet learned how to run! The queen runs
back to protect her child and confront the
she-wolf. At the crucial moment, the prince
takes a big step and manages to get away by his
mother’s cover. But it’s already too late for the
queen to escape.
The scene of his mother’s death has weighed on
the prince’s mind ever since. He decides to
sacrifice his beautiful corkscrew horns that
their species is so proud of against his father’s
will. By straightening his horns in the rock
fissures, he makes them into weapons for
revenge. He refuses to run when danger
arrives; he refuses to be hunted when told that
is the sheep’s fate. He becomes the wild one
in the eyes of the other argali sheep.
Will this lonely avenger succeed to in his
revenge?
DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY
Born in Shanghai, SONG graduated from Visual Communication Department at
China Academy of Fine Art in 2003. Ever since 1999, SONG has taken on the path
of 3D animation, and he is among the first group of Chinese CGI artists. His work
has received many awards both at home and abroad and his articles have been
published in respected newspapers. With over a decade’s hard work, he and
his team realized their dream of creating original animation films.

MISSION TO STEAL TIME

SYNOPSIS :
On the day Old Su is told that he has terminal
brain cancer, he decides that he will commit
suicide. As the clock is ticking for old Su, his
three children come back home to be with him.
The next morning, old Su gets up at 7 o’clock
to plan for after his death: assorting his will,
returning rods to the neighbor, and paying off
his debts to the grocery store. In the evening,
he enjoys dinner with his three children before
going to bed with the help of sleeping pills.
But something unusual then happens.
When he awakens, it is again 7 o ‘clock in the
morning, but the day starts exactly the same as
the day before. Everything happens precisely
like the previous day, again and again. Old Su
seems to be trapped in the same day.
After some time, old Su decides to do things
he always wanted to do, but never did. He goes
bungee jumping with his timid elder son, he
brings his stubborn daughter with him to
reconcile with his old comrade-in-arms, and
he takes Su-Liren, his good-for-nothing second
boy, to visit his secret former love…
When old Su has accomplished all he wanted
to do, he opens his eyes and finds himself lying
on a hospital bed, with family and friends
surrounding him. He discovers that everything
that happened on his “last” day was actually
planned by his second son Liren.
«To die a few days earlier or later, does it make
any difference?» asks old Su peacefully.
«Yes, Dad.» Liren replies:» Even if we can only
be together one more day.» Tears quietly fall on
old Su’s face and he passes away. Some days
later, a letter is received by his three children
to reveal the last words and secrets of old Su.

SYNOPSIS :
The film tells the story of the most unlikely
betrayal between loving ones.
In the outskirts of the city, a father suffering from
Alzheimer’s disease, his son and his daughterin-law are living in the same house. The son
worries about his father and wants to find a
nursing home for him. But each time his father is
placed in a home, he escapes and returns back
home. The father and the son get more and more
annoyed by each other but in a subtle process.
The father wants to live at home but is gradually
losing his mind and language skills causing
more and more trouble. To protect his father, the
son decides to place a badge around his neck in
case he gets lost. Their life continues with
occasional bizarre behavior by the father
bringing ironic black humor. When the father
falls in love with a widow, the misunderstandings
between the father and son are aggravated. One
day, they go to the mountains to hunt. The father
thinks his son wants to kill him. He escapes and
gets lost. When the son finds the badge of his
father near a cliff, he believes he has felt over
the cliff and died. The son leaves and does not
call the police. Later on, while in the hospital
with his wife who is giving birth, the son refuses
to answer messages from his father who is still
alive. With the newborn, they go live at his wife’s
family house. When everyone is celebrating the
new birth, he quietly removes the picture of his
father hunting in the mountains.
The weather is cold. The father has been
wandering for some time and finally found his
way home. He managed to enter the house by
jumping through a window. When the son comes
back home with a real estate agent to visit the
house, he is shocked to discover his father’s
corpse in his bed.

DIRECTOR’S BIOGRAPHY
QUAN Ling, born in Chongqing, is a famous Chinese novelist. Her works have
been selected as one of the best short novels of the year by Chinese Novelists
Association. She published short stories «Ye Chi Bai Ma». In 2009 began
“Forgetting To Know You”, 2012 completed the film.“Forgetting To Know You” is
her first film, which got Finalist of 63rd Berlin International Film Festival Youth
Forum Award nomination and got the “Most Creative Award” of CFPC in Shanghai
International Film Festival 2010.
