discussions and video with hands-on
skills training to promote effective
learning and keep students motivated.

infants
• Two-rescuer CPR skills
• Use an AED on an adult or child
victim of cardiac arrest

The Platte River Fitness Series was developed to encourage continued and on-going active
living. Active living is an important key to a healthy community. Over 1200 athletes competed in
at least one event in 2009. The series includes 7 Lincoln County fitness events held in 2010.
These 7 events will provide consistent motivation, giving participants a goal to work toward
throughout the year. The 2010 series will include North Platte’s first Half-Marathon!
Individuals will receive points for their participation in each event. Additional points are
earned by placing in one’s age-group in a particular event. Point totals will be tabulated
throughout the year, and winners determined after the December, 2010 event. Special Platte River
Fitness vests will go to all participants who complete all 7 events. Cash prizes will be awarded to
the overall men’s and women’s winners, special awards to the top three point winners in each
gender and age category. Certificates will go to places 4-10, and an awards dinner will be held in
celebration of the top ten in each gender and age group.
Points awarded and accumulated for all 7 of our Series events are as follows: 12 points for
participating in the longest distance in multiple distance events; 10 points for participating in the
shortest distance in multiple distance events; and 4 points for each leg of a triathlon; 10 points for
winning one’s age group (in each division in events that have separate divisions), 8 points for
second, 6 for third, then 5-4-3-2-1 for 4th through 8th. In addition, bonus points of 3, 2, and 1 will
be added to the overall top three in each event by gender. If a participant is the overall winner in
the fitness division, he or she should enter the competitive division in the next event having
separate divisions.
Age groups will be 19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 & 70 & over.
