City of Fredericksburg Virginia Economic Development and Tourism D AUGUST 2015 ‘Restaurant Row’ continues to expand evelopment activity remains brisk along Fredericksburg’s William Street corridor, which has come to be known as “Restaurant Row” for its wealth of excellent culinary options. Several new restaurants and additional businesses are planning to open this year along the already-bustling corridor, and more activity is in the works. Richmond-based Sugar Shack Donuts has started transforming the former William Street Market/Shell gas station at 801 William St. into an eatery specializing in donuts and coffee. Sedona Taphouse Sugar Shack Donuts Continuing up the hill toward the Rappahannock River, the Silver Cos.’ Amelia Square project is nearing completion. Six new townhouses are being built, as is a 5,000-square-foot location for Sedona Taphouse, a popular restaurant with locations in Richmond and Charlottesville. Silver is working on plans for the remaining parcel at Amelia Square between Sedona and the ABC store. Fahrenheit 132 Two projects are in the works in the building that houses Castiglia’s Italian Restaurant at 324 William St. A steakhouse called Fahrenheit 132 will open in a space formerly occupied by The Orion, and Castiglia’s is working on a rooftop restaurant. Kickshaws Downtown Market at 101 William St. is expanding its kitchen. Additional residential development along William Street will undoubtedly contribute diners to the expanding restaurants. Diagonally across the street from Hurkamp Park, JON Properties is building the Park View project. The three-level condominium project will also feature a ground-level branch for Community Bank of the Chesapeake. Spaces Design Studio is relocating to the building next to Park View at 417 William St. Wack General Contractor continues to refine plans for the large Liberty Place project next to The Free Lance-Star headquarters. Liberty Place will include a 281-space underground parking garage, 43 residential condominiums and more than 50,000 square feet of commercial space for retail, office and restaurant uses.
