Anderson Community Education (ACE) is sponsored by the Anderson County Board of Education representing the collaborative effort with the public school system, local organizations, businesses, and our citizens. Contact the extension office registration information. “Piecemakers Quilt Guild” Meets the first Monday night of the month at 7 p.m. at the Anderson Extension Office. Jan. 26 9:30-3:00 p.m. Fee: $10 Make a large quilt in a short time! This block was designed to create three quilt blocks. Learn to use triangles, square, rectangles, and an applique’ for a wonderful look! Sample available. “Strip Twist Quilt” Class Friday, Feb. 23 9:30-3:00 p.m. Fee: $10 If you need a quick gift that uses leftover strips from other projects, this quilt is a great idea! A strip twist quilt uses 2 1/2 inch strips and is both fast and easy. Sample available. “Waltzing Matilda” Quilt Block Class Fri. Apr. 27 9:30-3:00 p.m. Fee: $10 This design makes a secondary pattern as you piece the quilt. It’s an easy design, but not a quick project. Sample available. “Six-Point Striped Star” Quilt Class Fri., May 18 9:30-3:00 p.m. Fee: $10 Make a quilt or a table topper using a design that was developed in the 1900’s. The 60-degree angles make a strong statement when strips are used. Sample available. “Painting a Springtime Scene” Thursday, March 8 9:30 a.m. Fee: $30 Use pen and ink with oil rouging to create a beautiful springtime scene of a mailbox with a bird’s nest. The painting 6 can be done in either 11X14 or 12X16 inches. The fee covers all supplies. Registration and payment deadline is March 1. A photograph of the finished product is available. “Painting a Rural Scene” Thursday, May 10 9:30 a.m. Fee: $30 Learn how to use pen and Ink with oil rouging to create a rural scene that includes an old country church.
