2016 Educational Fair Sponsored by Aid for Kids Saturday, Augu st 27th John Millar Arena • Houlton 10 a.m. - 2 p.m . Bess the Book Bus, a mobile literacy outreach from Florida will be stopping in Houlton as a part of her national book tour providing new free books for children of all ages. This is a Steve Turner founder of Giving Tree Music from Florida will have a drum circle for all ages to enjoy. Stop by and be a part of the drum circle. It is fun for all ages no experience necessary. To Be Fit, a Juggling, Nutrition, Magician show is coming to town to Event inspire kids to eat healthy and remain active. The show engages, motivates and inspires children to develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime. This enchanting performance is sponsored by our great friends at Hannaford Supermarkets. Show times are 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Texting Simulator from the Maine Department of Public Safety will be available to help reinforce the importance of not texting and driving. The simulator is a teaching tool that allows the participant to “drive”and try text at the same time on a computer to see the consequences of texting and driving. Ben’s Trading Post will have a SAFE hoverball inflatable-fun for all ages. Maine Forest Service will be onsite with their helicopter that families can tour and find out about the mission of the Maine Forest service. Maine Warden Service will have Safari in a box-hands on learning project utilizing pelts and animal tracks. Sara McQuarrie from Sneakin in Science-fun hands on science activity making bouncy balls and also an opportunity to see what lives in pond water The Maine Fire Marshall’s office- fire education information Houlton Fire Department-hazard house- stop by and learn how to exit your home safely in case of fire. Atlantic Partners EMS- will have the seatbelt convincer-participants get to experience the force of a 5-7 miles per hour crash. Silent Sidekicks-is a 501©3 organization that provides information and education about animal-assisted therapies.
