DENVER FILM FESTIVAL IN REVIEW
After 38 years, the Denver Film Festival (DFF) remains the
largest, regional film festival in the Rocky Mountain region and
often is recognized as top film festival in the U.S. This year’s
Festival ran for twelve days and delivered a multitude of offerings
– from films, panels and industry conversations to receptions,
hospitality lounges and special events. This cultural program
provides the film-loving community with a wide selection of
films that entertain, educate and inspire, while supporting
organizations use the Festival as way to brand & market to a
culturally diverse and curiously intellectual demographic.
This select group of sponsors and partners exhibited a shared
philosophy in alignment with the Denver Film Society mission to
bring together communities through the film experiences.
HIGHLIGHTS
The international flavor and appeal of the Festival was on full
display with films from 39 countries. Topping the list of out-oftown guests was the contingent from Poland that featured an
enlightening slate of films as this year’s Focus on a National
Cinema. The Colorado filmmaking community was not without
representation with 17 titles playing on the big screen, and for
the second year the Denver Film Academy, comprised of Denver
Film Society Board Member alumni, honored one of the titles
with the True Grit Award. The Festival was bookended by a couple
of “firsts” with the Opening Night Party at Denver Union Station
and the inaugural Awards Brunch on the last day.
