Paola Longoria vs. Rhonda Rajsich
For several years racquetball fans, experts
and enthusiasts have been trying to identify the
player that provides the greatest threat to King Kane’s
throne. Most have pointed to Mexico’s Daniel De La
Rosa as the heir apparent and today provides his
first opportunity to step up and make a monumental
statement.
Waselenchuk has simply dominated the game
for the better part of the last decade. But as the
proverb states all good things do come to an end,
right? A loss by Kane today won’t be the end of his
reign, but it does put a kink in his armor.
De La Rosa used every amount of energy in
the epic semifinal yesterday and needed medical
attention after the match. Today he gets a chance,
but Kane prevails for US OPEN Title No. 11.
The last time a name other than Paola’s or
Rhonda’s was etched into the US OPEN trophy
was 2006. During the last eight years Longoria has
picked up five US OPEN Titles while Rajsich has won
three. So it is only fitting for the 20th Anniversary of
the US OPEN the two most decorated ladies in the
tournament’s history meet in the Championship Final
yet again.
The last time Rhonda defeated Paola was
almost a year ago at the LPRT event in Stockton. In
three other match-ups later in the season Paola won
them all.
Rajsich was quite impressive in knocking off
Vargas yesterday. Can she continue that US OPEN
magic today? She’ll give Paola a bit of a run, but the
five-time US OPEN Champ runs it to six.
Prediction: Kane in Four

HELPING THE KIDS
Thanks to everyone who donated to our Children’s
Charities over the past few days.
This year the Silent Auction raised more than $25,000!
Add in the donations from the Pro-Am Doubles event
and returned referee fees, nearly $31,000 is going
to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Rapha
House.
In the 20 year history of the US OPEN, we have raised
$401,671 for charity. Special thanks to Sal & Dee
Perconti for taking the US OPEN Silent Auction to a
new level this year!
CONGRATULATIONS!
Hey Roby! Leave the singing to those
