Help Us PIN Down Fraud If you are one of the millions of people who have a debit card, you know how convenient and easy they are to use. Unfortunately, this also means that thieves will stop at nothing to try and steal cards and Personal Identification Numbers (PIN ) as well. It will be Christmas shopping season before you know it and we want to stress the importance of protecting your PIN on your debit and credit cards. Here are a few easy steps to help protect you from fraudulent activity on your plastic cards. 1) Make sure you never share your PIN with anyone, regardless of how much you trust the person. Your PIN is unique to you, meaning never give it out over the phone or internet to verify a purchase. This practice is known as phishing and can cause fraudulent access to your debit card. 2) Commit your PIN to memory. Never write your PIN on your card or store it in your purse or wallet. Following these simple steps will greatly reduce your chance of falling victim to any unauthorized activity on your debit card this holiday season. Community Minded Corner Can you believe we are already into fall already? We know what a busy time of year it is for everyone, but rest assured, BCFCU is here to support both our members and all of the community events that accompany the falling temperatures. We hope everyone had a great summer and is enjoying tailgating season as much as we are. It’s another exciting year of Bulldog football and our incredible members helped raise $500 for Bulldog athletics with the purchase of our camouflage hats over the past year. All of us want to thank you, our members, for helping support both the credit union and our football team. Be sure to look for us at the Bulldog home football games and get an orange and blue shaker courtesy of BCFCU. Please make sure to come visit us at all the great festivals that take place around the Big Bend this fall including: Pickin’ in the Pines, Sept. 27th-28th, Pioneer Days in Mayo, October 12th, the Forest Festival Oct. 25-26th, and at the Blues n Bar B Q festival, December 14th. We also wanted to share this picture that was sent to us from the troops in Afghanistan as well. Our wonderful staff raised goods and money to send care packages to our brave men and women serving overseas. This was sent to us by a regiment of the Third Cavalry, U.S. Army, from a forward operating base in Afghanistan. Just another way we are community minded, just like you; even on the other side of the world!
