The Responsorial Psalm is “Lord, it is good to give thanks to you.” (Psalm 92) Today is not only Father’s Day, but also my oldest son’s 40th birthday . . . Happy Birthday, Kevin. Oops, now how can I get away with being 39 again? Also, happy first Father’s Day to my youngest son, Mark! HERO DAD By Joanna Fuchs Readings for the Week You are my hero, Dad. You’re my secure foundation. When I think of you, I’m filled with love and fond appreciation. You make me feel protected; I’m sheltered by your care. You’re always my true friend; and Dad, when I need you, you’re always there. You have a place of honor, deep within my heart. You’ve been my superhero, Dad, right from the very start, And I love you with all my heart. Monday: Tuesday: Wednesday: Thursday: Friday: Saturday: Sunday: CAHOOTS (e-mail Author Unknown) I have been in many places, but I’ve never been in Cahoots. Apparently, you can’t go alone. You have to be in Cahoots with someone. I’ve also never been in Cognito. I hear no one recognizes you there. I have, however been in Sane. They don’t have an airport; you have to be driven there. I have made several trips there, thanks to my family, friends and work. I would like to go to Conclusions, but you have to jump and I’m not too much into physical activities anymore. I have also been in Doubt. That is a sad place to go, and I try not to visit there too often. I’ve been in Flexible, but only when it is very important to stand firm. Sometimes I’m in Capable, but have to know when to ask for help. One of my favorite places to be is in Suspense! It really gets the adrenalin flowing and pumps up the old heart. Life is too short for negative drama and little things. So laugh insanely, love truly and forgive quickly! 1 Kgs 21:1-16; Mt 5:38-42 1 Kgs 21:17-29; Mt 5:43-48 2 Kgs 2:1, 6-14; Mt 6:1-6, 16-18 Sir 48:1-14; Mt 6:7-15 2 Kgs 11:1-4, 9-18, 20; Mt 6:19-23 2 Chr 24:17-25; Mt 6:24-34 Vigil: Jer 1:4-10; Ps 71; 1 Pt 1:8-12; Lk 1:5-17 Day: Is 49:1-6; Ps 139; Acts 13:22-26; Lk 1:57-66, 80 Miss Me—But Let Me Go When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want not rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little—but not too long And not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we once shared. Miss me—but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take, And each must go alone. It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart Go to the Friend we know, And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me—but let me go. Special prayers and blessings to all of our fathers today. Remember, in one week we start Vacation Bible School, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, June 25, 26, 27, 28, with a closing program/picnic at noon on the last day.
