Swing Unlimited Big Band – Founded in 2001
with the primary aim of providing opportunities
for local pro & semi-pro musicians to perform
the widest possible range of “Big Band” music.
Over the years SUBB has continued to develop
an unlimited range of music, which we have
performed at an unlimited range of venues,
functions and events – from the classic “golden
era” big band swing of the likes of Glenn Miller,
Duke Ellington & Count Basie, to contemporary
big band jazz arrangements of funk, blues,
Latin, rock & pop. Over the past years, the
Swing Unlimited Big Band Group has expanded
to include:
Swing Unlimited Community Band – Providing
opportunities for amateur musicians of all ages
from the local community to get together to
learn, practice and publicly perform the same
kind of music as SUBB under expert guidance
and tutelage from members of the “main”
band.
Swing Unlimited Dance Band – “Dedicated to
Dance”, a 15–17 piece band playing music ideal
for swing, jive, ballroom, Latin and social
dance events.
Swing Unlimited All Stars Tribute to
Count Basie – Formed 3 years ago made
up of musicians from throughout the Swing
Unlimited Group, including some special guest
players, this 18-piece big band reproduces
the repertoire of one of the greatest big band
leaders – Count Basie.
Swing Unlimited Jazz Club – Our own jazz club
formed in 2010 is based at the Riviera Hotel
in Bournemouth, enabling them to give bands
from the SUBB Group as well as some of the
best local, national & international jazz artists
the opportunities to perform regularly
(every Wednesday evening) to local audiences.
