Please try to schedule vacations when school is not in session. Thanks! Reminders Parents, please help us make our campus safe by signing in at the office EVERY TIME during the school day you are on campus. PTA President’s Message Dear Weathersfield Families, Happy spring! March was a busy and exciting month with many events happening at Weathersfield! The PTA- sponsored Scholastic “Under the Sea” book fair was a terrific success! There was quite a buzz on campus about books and reading, and our Eagles were eager to visit the book fair every day! It was wonderful to see so many families and special visitors on campus for Weathersfield’s first ever Grands/VIP Lunch and Family Reading Night. Thank you to everyone who attended these events and to all of the volunteers who worked throughout the week to make the book fair and family events so special! The focus of that presentation will be, “Raising Kids in a New and Ever-Changing Era of Technology and Social Media.” PTA is looking forward to our inaugural Walk-a-thon on April 17th! This family event is our largest fundraiser of the year, and it is sure to be a fantastic day for all. The entire family is invited to participate in walking to raise money for our amazing school. In addition there will be a BBQ prior to the event, vendor booths, a silent auction, and much more. Be on the lookout for more event details and for ways to volunteer at this event! Students and families of Weathersfield Elementary went on a fantastic voyage "Under the Sea" during Book Fair Week March 16-20. After student previews and a special shopping time for Kindergarten on Monday, the students and families were treated to the PTA’s premiere "Grands/VIP Lunch" on Tuesday where grandparents, parents, and other VIPs for our students were welcomed on campus to eat lunch with the students and shop the fair. Several hundred family members attended the luncheon. On Wednesday morning "Donuts with Dads" gave fathers, and other special family members, their own special time with students. Thursday evening was our inaugural "Family Reading Night" where over 150 students and family members enjoyed milk and cookies while being read stories in Russian, Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish by parents with English translations by some of our fabulous teachers. Special thanks to Book Fair chairperson Brenda Miller, co-chair DeAnn Aguilar, all of the volunteers, and Ms. Scott, Ms. V, Ms. Hartigan, Ms. Bringas, and Ms. Spangler for making this week one of the most successful book fair events ever! Her abstract sculptures, made of joined pieces of ready-made materials, such as packing crates or discarded wooden ornaments, earned her many important awards. Nevelson often referred to herself as the “Architect of Shadows.” Her exiting life and room-sized sculptures inspires students to create smaller relief sculptures of their own. During the Art Masters lesson, students learn basic creasing, slitting and curling techniques as they create paper relief compositions.
