We are already half way through the month of November. It has been a busy time with the visit of
the Sisters from El Salvador, the visit of the relics
of St. Maria Goretti, the blessing of the renovated
convent and the continued work on the Chapel of
St. Toribio room. Usually November is not so busy
and I have time to prepare for the busy season of
Advent. This week I leave for Ohio to see my
mother and my family members. I will be spending
Thanksgiving with them. On Tuesday of this week
it will be five years since my father passed away.
How quickly time flies. My mother is doing remarkably well now. This time last year she almost
died. I saw her in July and she was very happy and
contented living with my sister and her family. But,
I look forward to seeing her again because I know
she will not be around too much longer. She is
nearly 97 years old.
While I am gone Fr. Fasching and Fr. Oscar will
tend to the needs of our community. I just wanted
to draw your attention to a couple of events that
you might not want to miss. one is the arrival of the
relics of St. Sharbel on on Tuesday, November
17th at the parish of St. Therese here in Tulsa. St.
Sharbel Makhouf promoted the spirituality of the
monastic Maronite Church in his lifetime. He was
born May 8th, 1828 in Bkeakafra, Lebanon. He
spent nearly twenty three years in a hermitage
where his reputation for sanctity increased. On
Christmas Eve, 1897, Father Sharbel passed into
eternal life. Since then his tomb has been a site of
many pilgrimages. Hundreds of miracles are believed to have occurred through his powerful intercession. His body was incorrupt until 1965, the
year of his beatification at the closing of the Second Vatican Council. He was canonized on October 9th, 1977. His Feast Day is July 23rd. St. Sharbel is renowned for two things: the intensity of his
spiritual life as a hermit, and the extraordinary diversity and number of his miracles. St. Sharbel is
November 15, 2015
very popular in many parts of the world including
in Mexico. The schedule for the visit of the relics
of St. Sharbel is as follows:
5:00 p.m. Exposition of the Relics
5:30 p.m. Rosary
6:00 p.m. Rosary
7:00 p.m. Mass
7:40 p.m. Novena to St. Sharbel followed by a
movie on his life and then private prayer. The St.
Therese Maronite church is located south of the
Academy Sports Store (Hwy 169 and 81st Street)
at 8315 South 107th E. Ave. Tulsa, Oklahoma
74133. Anyone is welcome to attend and bring
your various petitions to this great saint.
The second event you might not
want to miss is the annual Turkey
Bingo which will be held in the
gym/cafeteria this coming Saturday at 6:00 p.m. This event benefits the school and so your presence is very much appreciated. I hope everyone
will come out for some Bingo and auction as well
as some good food and fun.
I hope you each have a great week!!
Sincerely yours,
Father Timothy Davison
GETTING THROUGH THE TOUGH TIMES
“It’s going to get worse before it gets better” is a phrase that prepares us to buckle up for a
rough ride. We know that enduring a difficult time
will require some strenuous physical or emotional
energy on our part before we experience the calm
of normality. Our past experience tells us that we
can endure the pressure when we know how long it
will last and if we know that something better
awaits us. Getting through the tough times while
holding to the promise that awaits us is the message of this weekend’s readings. They point toward
the promises of God’s kingdom that will come after the maelstroms and chaos of this world.

Del Párroco:
Queridos hermanos y hermanas,
Salgo rumbo a
5:00 pm Exposición del as Reliquias
5:30 pm Rosario
6:00 pm Adoración
7:00 pm Misa
Sports (169 y calle 81). La dirección es 8315
South 107th East Avenue, Tulsa, OK 74133.
Sinceramente,
Padre Timothy Davison
