and a constant supply of GMs prepared to run
a variety of indie and cutting-edge games. All
you have to do is present them with a group of
interested players.

Have a continental breakfast with
Jason Morningstar (Durance, Fiasco, Grey Ranks,
Shab al-Hiri Roach) and Luke Crane (Burning
Wheel, Mouse Guard). Jason and Luke will discuss
their wildly divergent design styles and how to
induce players to do unexpected things. Luke will
also tell stories about Jason’s first Gen Con.

PROGRAM
Improv theater teaches many skills that can make
your game rock: collaboration, embracing failure,
and generally feeling comfortable looking stupid.
Yet, there is a divide to cross to get the gamer onto
the stage. So Big Bad Con has brought the mountain
to Mohammed. Come to the workshop and you’re
going to explore dynamic characters, collaborative
scene-building, and the success/complication model
as it applies to role-playing games.
The workshop will be led by local improv instructor
Mia Blankensop with co-organizers Karen Twelves
and Matthew Klein.

Using only the FATE system and three mystery game
ingredients consisting of a genre, an adversary and
a location, they will attempt to impress our panel of four judges
with their system mastery and ability to run an excellent game with
minimum prep. The winner will not only receive the title of Big Bad
GM, but will also be rewarded with glory, honor, and…a pin!
Our four Big Bad GM contestants were chosen by the players at Big
Bad Con 2011 for their exceptional games, and might I say, their huge
egos? Meet our four contestants and decide who you think has what
it takes to claim the title!

vast collection and distribution
network that provides food for 275
nonprofit agencies in Alameda
County. In 2010, the Food Bank
