Twins Take Top Honors
This year’s valedictorian and salutatorian are a duo
that’s hard to beat. Taking top honors this year is Tia Watson.
Her twin, Tyann is a close second and will represent Rocky Boy
as salutatorian. These two students are the daughters of Tyran
and Ivy Watson. Ty retired from teaching last year but has returned to the school as the NACP coordinator. The twins will be
separated next fall as Tia will attend MSU-Bozeman and Tyann
will be attending UofM in Missoula. Good luck to you both!

Shouts of Joy
On May 7, shouts of joy were heard pouring from the office at Rocky Boy High School.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that those joyous melodies stemmed from the announcement that five seniors have been awarded Pathways scholarships.

UGF Recruits Stars
The University of Great Falls has
recruited three Stars to join their athletic
teams this fall. The Stars will become Argos
and change their colors from maroon and gold
to sky blue and yellow as they compete in the
arena and on the courts. Jerod Coffee will be
joining the Argos rodeo team. Jestina Goodvoice will be on the volleyball court, and also
playing for the Lady Argos will be Leigha
Onco on the basketball team.

Money, Money, Money!
Local Scholarship Winners
Casandra Lamas not only will be walking away
with the Pathways Scholarship, but has also been
awarded more scholarships. The first is the Governor’s
Best and Brightest which is an award for $2,000. Triangle Telephone/Hill County Electric Cooperative awarded
her $1,000, $1,000 for the Youth Service of Montana, To
be awarded this scholarship, Casandra had to volunteer
100 hours of community service, The Treacy Scholarship
Foundation for $2,000, The Luck of the Draw for $500,
and last but not leas, t the Horatio Alger Scholarship for
$10,000.
Mark Jarvey
earns a $4,000 Pride
Foundation Scholarship that will be added
to his Pathways Scholarship and a $400
AIBL award. Mark is
the single high school
recipient this year for
the Pride Scholarship.
RBEA offers three scholarships each year. Criteria for these scholarships are that students must maintain a 3.0 GPA for at least 3 years. Preference is also
given to students who attend Rocky Boy for most of their
four years and who are pursuing a college path in education. This year’s recipients are Heather LaMere for the
$1,000 award, and Brandi Buffalo and Marquita Wright
for the $500 awards.
This year’s Coca-Cola Scholarship winner is
Leah Gopher who will be getting $250 toward college. The
winner of the Sandra Murie Scholarship, a $1,000 award,
is Jerod Coffee Finally, Kyle Olson will be awarded the
RBHS Athletics Scholarship in the amount of $250.
Charles and Margaret Swan Scholarships recipients this year are Tia Watson and Tyann Watson with
awards of $1,000 and $500 respectively. RJS is a proud
supporter of the Rocky Boy Schools and honors those who
strive to do their best.
The Sandra Murie Scholarship, set in honor of Sandra
Murie’s dedication to the Rocky Boy Schools, is Jerod
Coffee. He will be received $1,000 toward his college
costs.
A new scholarship this year is the Roger St.
Pierre Scholarship, established to honor the passing of
Mr. Voyd St.Pierre and Ms. LaCrissa St. Pierre’s father.
The first recipient will be announced at graduation.

AIBL travels to Phoenix,
Arizona for the 2013 National Conference on April 11 through 13. In
all, thirteen students fley to the conference with advisor Mrs. Mona
Sunchild and chaperone Mr. Rick
Sunchild.
Tyann Watson turns in the
best business card in the Workforce
Warrior Competition. The best flyer
for that same competition is submitted by Jestina Goodvoice. Tyann
Watson also wrote the “Best Letter of
Application” in the Job Application
Interview Competition. In that same
competition, the Stars walk away
with first, second and third places in
the one-on-one interviews. Those
winners are Mark Jarvey, Casandra Lamas and Jestina respectively.

the Stars AIBL team is awarded
first in the “Business Plan Competition” with their “Galaxy Vendor”

Mr. MacDonald, Alumni of the Year
Mr. Jeremy MacDonald has been recognized by the University of Montana’s Native American Studies Department as a recipient of their
Alumni of the Year Award. He is being honored because of his “fine service and commitment to making the
world a better place for American
Indian people through educating

through [his] role as a basketball
coach.” As a recipient of this award,
Mr. MacDonald traveled to Missoula
on May 18 to be honored at the graduation ceremonies.
Mr. Mac, as he is known,
teaches sixth grade here at Rocky Boy
and coaches the boys varsity basketball
team just down the road in Box Elder.
Mr. Mac is a mentor and a role model
to the youth of Rocky Boy and a loving
father of three boys and a caring husband to his colleague, Julie MacDonald.

The Northern Stars took
home some victories this year in
Cross Country and Basketball.
In the fall, Ms. Rachel
Sieler coached (Levi) Kyle Olson to
a state victory at the cross country
meet held in her hometown of
Glasgow. Kyle was the only Star to
qualify for state. He knew going in
that it was his race to win or lose,
and he’d planned to win it.
Once again, the football program
was a JV program, so no tournaments were available for the team
of Warriors coached by Rich
Sunchild and Ben Tull.
The basketball season
started out strong for the boys’
team with the Native American
Classic in Havre. Coach Derik
Small was back to coach the boys
to a winning season that netted
them a 1st place finish at the District 1B tournament. Unfortunately, the boys didn’t compete as
well at Divisionals, so did not
make it on to the state tourney.
The girls seemed to want
to win, but were more excited for
the boys to move through the tournaments, so did not get past distict
play this year. The girls were
again coached by Jazz Parker.
The girls’ volleyball team
was again coached by retired
teacher Ty Watson. After working
with the girls again, Ty couldn’t
help himself, and was hired back
by the school. He’s now the Native
American Children in Schools Program coordinator. Ty’s girls didn’t
get far in post season play, but
they certainly became better players throughout the season.

This year’s golf team is coached
by Mr. Andrew Ferguson. He had one
player, Sage Gopher, who just missed out
on a trip to state. Sage is only a sophomore, so he will have two more opportunities to make a run at a state title.
Kyle Olson finishes strong at
just about every track meet. He’s already
set two new records in the 3200 meter
race this year. At the Divisonal Meet
Kyle Olson took 2nd in the 800 with a
time of 2:03, he took 1st in the 1600 with
a 4:38.53, and he took 1st and set a new
Divisional Record in the 3200 with a time
of 9:36.53.
Kyle Olson is coached by Mr.
Rick Sunchild and Mr. Ben Tull. Kyle has
many teammates, but Kyle is expected to
take the state meet by storm. The meet
starts on May 24.

It’s been ten years and Jalin Belcourt has a trailer with ten inferred cameras that detect everything
that moves. He has a shed filled
with guns and pistols reaching from
the top of his shed a mile down under the ground. He also has a collection of war medals on display right
when you walk inside his trailer.
Every day you can find him at the
Spike telling his war stories. He is
married to his woman from high
school; she only cooks what Jalin
hunts ranging from deer meat, elk
meat, rabbit and other sorts of
things he kills where ever he happens to be. Every day he loads up
his guns so he can have a round of
shooting at his 7 kids Jewelry, Jamal, James, Juice, Jalin and Juan
but he traded his daughter Jewelry
for yak in China, very hard to find
yak. But don’t worry, Jalin made
them bullet- proof fabric for his
rounds of shooting. In his spare
time he puts on his big boy speedo
and enters in
the powder puff wrestling association.
He has multi-titles being a champ in
the powder puff with 30 wins and no
losses. He has also completed his life
goal of being the 5th best hunter in
North America . Boss like.

Can you believe that Scotty
Bradley has been drug and alcohol

He’s really proud of that and even

share his struggles and success with
Native American youth across the
country. When Scotty is not traveling, he’s home taking care of Rikki
and Ky’us. Of course, Scotty is one
handsome guy,
but he is devoted to his
family. He
even had a
home designed
and built for
his family. It’s
that new almost-
mansion over on Duck Creek. He even
put in an Olympic sized pool with a water slide and allows both Rocky Boy and
Box Elder schools to use it for their
swimming teams. When he’s not working, Scotty spends time with his three
kids and Rikki. Oh, I need to mention
that Scotty has the most bad a** car
around. It’s a hybrid but it also is the
most amazing sports car you have ever
seen. You’ll have to get him to take you

After successfully graduating from RBS, Brandi Buffalo continued her education at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas on a full-ride basketball scholarship. While attending Haskell, she studied music. It took all of Brandi’s daycare,
head start, elementary, junior high, and high school years to finally figure out that she wanted to pursue a career in making music. Creating beats,
writing lyrics to songs, and even writing her own poetry; it all put Brandi at ease
when she wasn’t playing basketball or with her beloved common-law husband Terry.
For Brandi, making beats came from what she heard while playing basketball. Things
such as dribbling and shoes squeaking on the court, they all made their own certain sound that is the basis for
Brandi’s beats. The writing lyrics to songs and poetry came from being in love with her “best friend” Terry Standing Rock. Her songs and poetry, in fact, are so good that she has created a book with her poems in it. The book is
called Let Me Put My Poems in You. Vol. 2. It’s volume two because the first volume was written by Chaz Michael
Michaels in the movie Blades of Glory. So really she is paying tribute to him with her poems. With all of Brandi’s
beats, lyrics, and poems being such a great turn out, some even consider Brandi to be the female Dr. Dre! After
getting her degree in music, Brandi and Terry went off to Hollywood together to pursue her career in the music
industry. Although being gone quite some time, no one has yet to hear from her since moving there.

we last
heard from
Raven. It’s
like she
disappeared the day after graduation.
Well, here’s an update
for you. On May 24th, she was on
her way to the 8th grade
graduation to go watch Bryson
graduate. But we all know Raven
was always late for everything, so
she was driving a little too fast and
not really paying attention to where
she was going (sound familiar?).
Anyhow, she missed the turn off to
the school, and drove right in to
Havre. She decided that she might
as well just keep going and drove
straight up to Canada. Well, she
didn’t have her passport, and her
tribal I.D. was the only way they’d
let her across the border.
She got a flat tire, didn’t
know how to change it, caught a ride
to the next town, and realized she’d
left her purse in the car. By the time
she got back to her car, it had been
stripped of everything. She decided
it was a sign to just stay in Canada.
That’s where she’s been ever since.

Turns out that after graduation Tracy
went to church to confess everything
she has sinned. After spending 3 weeks

pay for some college she went to college
and got a degree in missionary work.

The day after
graduation Darwin went missing. A few days
later Darwin
woke up on a
water bed surrounded by beautiful blonde bunnies at the
Play Boy Mansion. He decided he wanted
some of the women to himself so he set up a
meeting to talk business with Hugh Heffner. For 5 hours they sat there In Heff’s office discussing what kind of business Darwin can bring for Heffner and his bunnies.
Heff really liked Darwin’s
charisma and gave him a
chance as the mansion mechanic. Darwin not only gets
to work on exotic cars, but
he gets to drive any and all
of them with a bunny by his
side. So if you see Darwin
cruising down the street in a
Lotus, don’t be too shocked.

Have you seen Lola lately? If not, you can ask her
about her children at the Rocky Boy School. After
high school Lola had 12 more kids. There names
are Lilly, Louis, Lesly, Larry, Limen, Lorrett,
Luke, Lovert, Lala, Layla, Lafounda, and Lola
Dee. They were all born a year apart except the
two twins Lala and Layla.
Lola has a wood burnt log
cabin down the road from
her mother’s house. She is
married. Lola works as an
air balloon navigator in
the mountains where she
earns about $300 for taking a trip for two people
high in the sky. That’s
where she met her love.
Any who, Lola enjoys her
job and every year she volunteers at the elementary school
as both the Easter bunny and cupid. But her secret desire
is to get married in a hot air balloon at the Albuquerque
International Balloon Festival.

Daughter of Arnold & Dixie Four Souls
In ten years Lanni Four Souls is back in Rocky Boy happily married to the famous “Thomas” from Smoke Signals. They
hooked up at GON in 2015 and have been
inseparable since. You can probably guess
what they enjoy most because they now
have six kids. It’s hard to believe that she
has six kids and still makes the circuit performing in Powwows and remains one of the top jingle dress dancers. Before meeting “Thomas,” Lanni tried out Haskell for a few
months, but missed her family too much, so came back home. It
was while working at Northern Winz that Lanni met the love of
her life.

Well, Cady is the head volleyball
coach for the Canadian
team. After college, Cady decided to get into coaching because she tore her shoulder
and just couldn’t compete any
longer. She coached a few college teams in the Northwest,
but then got an offer to head
to Edmonton to coach there.
After a year coaching under the
head coach of the Canadian Olympic team, she was offered the head
coaching position. Of course Cady
took the job. She’ll be back in the
US of A in Oklahoma for the
most pretigious competition of
her career.
In her personal life? She
keeps that private, but word has
it she’s madly in love and has been
married for seven years now.

Ten years later and Adrian is
living his dream. A few months
after graduation Adrian decided
to try his luck at the Mega Millions. He ended up winning 176.5
MILLION DOLLARS. He moved
off the rez and purchased a Mansion in Kalispell, 9 of the top fastest cars, and 8 homes around the
U.S. He helped his family out as
well. He also purchased a lifetime
pass to the Denver Broncos games
both home and away. He has
never missed a game in 9 years.
While at the Broncos vs. Patriots
game he ended up falling in love
with a Bronco cheerleader. She’s
also a speech therapist for children. After a few dates Adrian
proposed to her at the Bronco
Stadium during the championship
game. She said “YES.” love.
He made her sign a prenuptial agreement but she didn't care, she
married him for They ended up getting
married on the field. They now live in
Colorado still go to Bronco games.
Adrian sends a few million every year
to the school for students in altacare to
go on field trips around the world. He
even sends a specialist with a degree
from Harvard to educate students at
Rocky Boy. He’s happy with his life, his
wife and that they’re expecting their
first child.

friends, they own a car together and

the Boys and Girls Club. She is
expecting her next kid soon. She

in high school. After having her
child she expects to pick up figure

heard from Casandra she was off to
college in her Audi. After college
she went working right away at
Exotic Imports importing top cars
overseas. She was top sales person
for three years before becoming
manager; a mere two years later
bought the dealership. Since then,
Casandra expanded her franchise to
seven dealerships across the Northwest. She even designs automobile
models. You’d think that Casandra
is all about work having been so
successful in such a short time, but
you’d be wrong. In her mean time
she loves to travel, going everywhere like it’s her backyard. Although with her busy life she still

2023 already! Where has the
past 10 years gone? What made me
think of 2013 you may be asking? Well,
I had to visit the emergency room, and
who should be the doctor on call? None
other than Heather LaMere! No kidding. Heather is a doctor and doing her
residency in Havre. As she was putting
in my stitches (we’ll save that story for
another day), she told me how she now
has three little Watsons running
around. Yep she and
Chase are still together.
Heather even pulled out
her phone and showed
me pictures of the little
ones. I had to laugh.
They all look like little
Ty Watsons (minus the
glasses). I asked her
keeping her busy besides
medical school and working here. She
said that she and hubby like to go for
bike rides with the kids from time to
time and she’s been helping them
learn volleyball. Of
course, Ty is the master coach, but Heather
gets in there too and
shows them how to
serve those aces and to
really get in and dig.

Its 2023, and after high school
Ruth proceeded in going to college, she went for an associates
degree at Red Rocks Community
College in Colorado. Once she
received her Associates Degree
with a major in Business and a
minor in Cosmetology. She
joined the military enlisted in the
Air Force.
While in the military for a few years she
met a guy. He was ranked as a Captain in
the Air Force. Also a part time Native
Model from Crow. They got married
while still in the military. They both were
stationed in Auschwitz, Germany. After
her term was up. She started her own
business. A beauty parlor for makeovers.
While her parlor was becoming successful she then gave birth to twin boys, who
are always well dressed. Her husband is
still in the military. They lived happily in
Germany. While her parlor became well
known in Europe, she started her own
clothing and makeup line. Her family is

Hard to believeit’s been ten
years since Kyle (Levi Olson)
graduated and won both the
state cross country race, and all
four of his events in track his
senior year, but it really has
been that long. In case you haven’t been following the Olympics,
Kyle retired from running after
winning the marathon in the
2014 and 2018 Summer Olympics. He now coaches the best distance runners and is the
most-sought-after distance coach in the U.S. You may not
recognize Kyle now though, he’s usually in the company
of Selena Gomez. Why you may not recognize Kyle is because he now stands about six feet three inches tall and
sports a thick mustache and goatie. So, look for that tall,
slender well-groomed man who runs everywhere he goes;
it just may be Kyle.

In ten years Leigha will be back at Rocky Boy with her African American boyfriend, Jamel and her eight
kids. She coaches basketball and even took her team to State in 2020. Good thing she had a boyfriend (before Jamel)
who helped with the kids so she could devote her time to her team. After winning the State Tournament, she was
awarded Coach of the Year, but then Leah Gopher, who visited to congratulate her, stole that boyfriend along with
all the kids. Leigha became so depressed, she quit teaching for a brief period
and devoted herself to tending her ten cats. While soaking in self-pity, Leigha
befriended the Chinese food delivery guy. Yep, that’s how she met Jamel.
Jamel has been a great influence on Leigha, and got her to get back into coaching and was the one who suggested she move back to Rocky Boy. So, if you
hear her name in the Galaxy, it’s because she’s the new coach for the Morning
Stars.

Samuel One spot is a world renowned
chef in Israel where he cooks some of
the most exotic creations ever known
to man. His most recent creation was
a pile of bat dung (guano) spice with
cheddar cheese, cumin, cloves and
cinnamon. Sam complimented this
with fry bread and a cold glass of
Coca-Cola. He has a Muslim wife
named Saha from Pakistan. She
makes awesome rice dishes. She
knows the way to Sam’s heart is
through his belly. Sam likes watching the stars at night on their threestory house on the roof with a huge
hammock with his wife and one child,
a daughter named Margret. They lay

there every night and listen to Sam’s
stories; he tells about his days on the
Pow Wow trail. Margret is also a
vegan lay, needless to say Watch for

After high school Tristan Parisian went off to college at Haskell. She became president of
the student body. Getting her

She's now the owner and financer of her own gambling
hall & resort. She is married
up and has a few kids. They
live in Box Elder, and her
kids go to Rocky Boy. Between work she Coaches ball
at Stone Child College. She
and her family are very
happy they live in a nice
house. She plays ball regularly and models for a website
called The Beauty of Native
Women from Rocky Boy.

Daughter of Jackie Duran & Curtis Monteau
If you Google her name, you
would see little miss Marquita Wright changing lives
in Africa. After high school
Marquita got into a program
at the University of Montana
– Missoula. It only took Marquita 6 years to get a doctorate degree there. During that
time she also became a cop
here on the Reservation. Kita
was able to be certified two
years after graduation. After
Kita completed her Doctorate
she decided to go work in
Africa to do what she loves
and help children in need.
After a while, while Kita was
living over there, she developed a liquid supplement to
help children gain healthy
weight. Her liquid diet supplement is so
successful that she was awarded the
Nobel Peach Prize.
On a personal note, she
also met a Dominican man helping
the underprivileged, the same thing
she was doing. He happens to have a
thing for fancy dancers. They got
married just last week.
Kita lives with him in Africa and has decided to make that
her home. They come and travel to
the States for powwows and to spend
time with Kita’s family at least four
times a year. Kita’s living the life
she always wanted and is having a
good time doing it!

2023, and Sabrina Potter is
a pharmacist assistant in
Great falls. She handles dispensing and producing prescription pills. She is still
single but dating. Sabrina
travels constantly when
she's not at work. Sabrina

mountains of Montana in a
luxurious log cabin.
She’s become one of
the best marksmen (marks
women) around because of all
the animals that she encounters. She doesn’t kill them,
but the bird shot sure scares
them off for a bit.
Lola and Tia still visit
her when they can. The three
of them still take road trips
together. Their latest adventure was a trip to Las Vegas.

I will share this little detail
though, her winnings from
that week have made it so that
the three girls are already
planning their next vacation.

Who knew after graduation Justin
Raining Bird would do the impossible
after high school Justin went to college at Bozeman. Even in college he
was still amazed and interested in
Lego’s. I know what your thinking
why Lego’s? Well, Justin thought it
would be awesome to build the worlds
biggest house made entirely of Lego’s.
He dropped out of Bozeman even
though he was the best ball player on
the Cats team, and set out for this
mission. Well it took Justin five years,
but he did it. The Lego house was
built in the prairie land of the US,
all out of Lego blocks. Well, Just eventually sold his Lego house to a billionaire for $7.6 million. Justin was ecstatic He returned home back in Rocky
Boy and purchased a large condo (via
Skype) off the coast of Hawaii where he
took Donna and his family for a vacation. They also traveled the world
and will soon be flying to the moon
in July 4th for the 5th Annual Fireworks Show to watch the fire works
all around the world. Let’s hope
Donna doesn't chicken out.

Dusty Standing Rocky became a
professional gambler and was
well known around Vegas and the

After 5 years Dusty’s
luck changed and he went into
debt. He had very limited options
in Vegas. So he decided to become
a Chip-an-Dale in front of Fremont Street. Still keeping his
reputation and bringing in the
money; he now owns half of Vegas.

took over for Ty Murray when Ty
finally retired in 2016. Preston
has been the Color Commentator
at the INFR and the NFR since
2016 and has stated that he’ll
stay until they drag him out.
He loves his job.

after his final ride at the 2015
INFR. He was being interviewed, but the producers didn’t notice the guy was already
coming out of the shoot. Preston just naturally started calling the ride so

Tia White when she was in
high school, we now sees her

Tia White became

school. She didn't go to college
as planned but decided to get
away and move to Florida
where she got into the acting,
advertising mostly.

been doing

heavenly

After graduating, she and
Lelani Whitehorse took a road trip
across the US just to say they’d been to
all 48 of the contiguous states.
Angel didn’t want to stop
By 2017, Angel had become
weary of being out at sea all the time,
so she went back to being a land-lubber
and started working for FEMA in the
relief efforts they provide. Because
she’d already been to each of the states,
this seemed a good fit for Angel.
In 2021, Angel was ready to
settle down, so moved back to Montana
and started working at the governor’s
office to help communities plan for disaster relief. Angel was given the key to
the city of Billings for her efforts in
setting up tornado warnings and figuring out to deal with the downpours so
that they no longer cause the
destruction they caused in
the 1990s and early 2000s.

A high school diploma is generally needed to pursue postsecondary education. It is also the minimum education
needed in many entry-level jobs. If you're a resident of Montana, read on learn about the requirements necessary to
earn your high school diploma in this state.
Earning Your Montana High School Diploma
The state of Montana offers is responsible for graduation requirements for its high schools and offers programs to
adults who do not have a high school diploma but want to earn one. The state allows its school districts to set their
own requirements for graduation, as long as those standards meet the state's minimum graduation requirements.
You'll need to check with the Montana school district you are residing in to obtain information about the requirements needed to receive your diploma.
Graduation Requirements
The Montana Department of Education (MDOE) requires that every student complete at least 20 credits and meets
content and performance standards to receive a high school diploma. The MDOE had determined that 13 of the 20
credits must comply with the following to graduate:
Four units of English/language arts
Two units of mathematics
Two units of social studies
Two units of science
One unit of health enhancement, with 0.5 units each year for two years
One unit of arts
One unit of vocational or technical education
Individual school districts may have additional requirements. The state allows students to graduate from high school with less than four years of
enrollment if all requirements are met. It also allows credits earned in any Montana high school accredited by the Board of Public Education to
