WHAT IS KIDSFEST?
KidsFest international is a global
project that started different KidsFests
functioning along the same unique
concept in the world with the aim to
expand in many countries. It is based
on the experience of a decade’s work
with many international partners, like
the EU, UNICEF, Save the Children,
OSCE, ICRC, UNHCR. KidsFest is a
LABEL standing for quality and
universal values, a cultural-social
event that fosters the political focus
on children to create synergies
among divergent parts of society.
In 2015 Kid's festival Sarajevo
received UNESCO patronage.
PROJECT HISTORY
KID’S FESTIVAL SARAJEVO was
launched in 2004 to address the root
causes of ethnic division by bringing
thousands of children from all parts of
Bosnia & Herzegovina together. Today
it is the most important youth event in
the Balkans with 30-40.000 participants. From 2014 started the challenging progress of creating a KidsFest
international label: The first approach
was initiating KidsFest in countries in
transition, then in Europe. These steps
have successfully resulted in unveiling
an international multiplatform in different cities and countries. Banja Luka,
Tunisia, Sofia. And more to come.
GLOBAL AIMS
Peace is always “under construction” Our aim is to create a KidsFest international multi-platform with the objective
to contribute to peace in the world
through common intercultural references. KidsFest is not just a children’s event,
it brings diverging communities together as it gets adopted by the entire civil
society, regardless of cultural, social,
ethnic or religious differences. A formula that works anywhere: today, as the
entire world is in transition we want
expand our concept universally to the
benefit of all people and especially the
youth. Children are meaningful actors
of peace - that is what the world needs.
HOW DOES KIDSFEST
FUNCTION?
KidsFest is a unique momentum, a wave of
positive emotions, becoming a long-lasting memory, deeply engraved as a
treasure of childhood. The effects grow
organically, as the child’s intrepidity, genuine intercultural capacity and limitless
creativity create new approaches of
communication,
building
bridges.
KidsFest’s pedagogical aspects include
innovative methods for important
future-oriented themes, like citizenship,
pluralism, environment, sustainable development. The key-concept is to involve a
significant number of partners: NGOs,
schools, ministries, international organizations, Embassies, experts… and children.
KidsFest offers a public showcase to all.
