Echuca Specialist School Volume 2, Issue 10 24.06.2014 Paul Marshall: Assistant Principal Happy Holidays On behalf of the staff of Echuca Specialist School, I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. Make sure you have a relaxing time and keep warm. Long Service Leave I will be on long service leave for the first two weeks of third term. Deb McLaren will be in the office and Lance Carrington will be filling in her room. Goodbye Jill Maree mentioned Jill Bowles’ retirement in last week’s newsletter. I would also like to wish Jill all the best in her retirement. It was lovely sharing a meal with staff to celebrate Jill’s time at Echuca Specialist School. Memories of Jill’s work warmed our hearts and reminded us all what it means to work at our school. We will miss your quiet and caring presence around the school. One and All Congratulations to all of the people involved with organising the One and All leaders camp, especially Jacqui Davies. A small number of students from all of the Echuca primary schools buddied up with a small number of our students, to attend the Billabong camp on Monday and Tuesday. The students had a great time and once again the inclusion project has proven to be beneficial for both our school and all of the schools in Echuca. Page 2 On Monday & Tuesday the One & All Inclusion Project had the privilege of taking 7 middle department students from Echuca Specialist School on a Leadership & Inclusion camp with 14 of their peers from other primary schools in Echuca & Moama. This was thanks to CCLLEN, The Shire of Campaspe & Moama RSL. Over the 2 days participants took part in a variety of physical activities together at Billabong Ranch such as archery, bouldering and then also battled it out on the commando course. Whilst we weren't so lucky with the weather, this did not deter participants from having a great time. On the first day, participants took part in initiative games where we discovered the many ways to communicate with our blind-folded buddy, directing them around obstacles with only our voice or other sounds. Thank you to everyone from Echuca Specialist School who assisted with the planning of this camp and a special thank you to Gary and Caz (and Mandy from Murray Human Services) who came along to supervise the camp.
