Non-traditional Career Day at
Tech Center
On Wednesday, May 28th, nine HMS 7th and
8th graders attended the Non-traditional Career
Fair at the Allegan County Area Technical
Educational Center (ACATEC). They had the
chance to visit two programs that are nontraditional for their gender. Students were able
to complete a hands-on project in each program
and learn more about in-demand career areas
that they might not otherwise consider due to
gender stereotypes. We heard great feedback
about the visit from both our students and
ACATEC staff.
After School Study Help
The Middle School Media Center is open daily
until 3:45 p.m. Students will be offered help with
their homework, and some extra tutoring on concepts as needed. Students are welcome to drop in,
but a call or email from a parent is appreciated, so
we know what you would like your child to gain
from this time. After school students are welcome
to work on homework or read independently.
Computer games or recreational netbook use will not
be allowed during this time.
Students are welcome to bring a snack to nibble on
while they work.
