Dear Parishioners,
Next weekend we will have the Annual Bishop’s Stewardship Appeal. The focus of the BSA is on Catholic education, charitable
organizations, communications and seminarians. Special BSA
envelopes will be distributed at all the weekend masses. You will
be given the option of making a one-time donation or a donation
over a period of 6 months. The diocese has provided a number of
ways to give to this campaign. Please take time to consider what
you and your family can truly offer to help make this BSA a success. Our individual parish goal is $31,000. Last Spring, 210
parishioners (that is, 23% of our members) pledged $54,968. With
only 23% of the parish participating, our pledge went over our
parish goal. However, consider how incredible it would be if
every family made a pledge?
Bishop Estevez depends on our willingness to share our time, talent and treasure. Stewardship is not simply about giving our
money. It is about our spiritual attitude towards God. If God has
been generous to us, why not return the favor? True, there will be
those who will object and say that this year has been hard on them
financially. Yet, despite our lack of financial resources, we can
still make a financial contribution and trust that the Lord will still
provide for our means. Stewardship involves trust in God’s providence for us. Remember the adage: “God is never outdone by our
generosity.” If we give out of love for God, God will make sure
we have enough to pay our bills and other needs. This is not fiction. It works.
And now some funnies:
1.
2.
One night a wife found her husband standing over their
baby's crib. Silently she watched him. As he stood looking
down at the sleeping infant, she saw on his face a mixture
of emotions: disbelief, doubt, skepticism. Touched by this
unusual display and the deep emotions it aroused, with
eyes glistening she slipped her arm around her husband.
"A penny for your thoughts," she said. "“It's amazing!"
he replied. "“I just can't see how anybody can make a
crib like that for only $46.50."
There are several men in the locker room of a private
club after exercising. Suddenly a cell phone that was on
one of the benches rings. A man picks it up and the following conversation ensues:
"“Hello?"
"“Honey, It's me."
"“Sugar!"
"“Are you at the club?"
"“Yes."
"“Great! I am at the mall 2 blocks from where you
are. I saw a beautiful mink coat... It is absolutely
gorgeous!! Can I buy it?"
"“What's the price?"
"“Only $1,500.00"
"“Well, OK, go ahead and get, if you like it that
much..."
"“Ahhh and I also stopped by the Mercedes dealership and saw the 2015 models. I saw one I really
liked. I spoke with the salesman and he gave me a
really good price ... and since we need to exchange
the BMW that we bought last year..."
"“What price did he quote you?"
"“Only $80,000..."
"“OK, but for that price I want it with all the op
tions."
"“Great!, before we hang up, something else..."
"‘What?"
“It might look like a lot, but I was reconciling your
bank account and...I stopped by the real estate agent
this morning and I saw the house we had looked at
last year ... it's on sale!! Remember? The one with a
pool, English Garden, acre of park area, beachfront
property..." " How much are they asking?"
"‘Only $450,000... a magnificent price, and I see
that we have that much in the bank to cover..." "
well, then go ahead and buy it, but just bid $420,000.
OK?"
"“OK, sweetie... Thanks! I'll see you later!! I love
you!!!"
"“Bye... I do too..."
The man hangs up, closes the phone's flap and
raises his hand while holding the phone and asks to
all those present: "“Does anyone know who this
phone belongs to?"

PLEASE SUPPORT CATHOLIC RADIO
Northeast Florida is very blessed to have a Catholic radio station
with excellent Catholic programming. The station is called WQOP or
Queen of Peace radio, and you can find it at 1460 AM. WQOP has
been around for several years since the 1997. However, despite the
popularity of this station among a number of Catholics in our diocese,
a large majority of our people do not know of the station. WQOP
depends on the generosity of its donors and due to a drop in revenue
the station is having difficulty meeting its monthly bills. If you can
help them, you can go to the following webpage to make an electronic
contribution to: http://www.qopradio.com or send your contribution
to Queen of Peace Radio, P.O. Box 51585, Jacksonville Beach, FL
32240. For more information, call Tom Moran at (904) 241-3311.

spiritual food—it satisfies the deepest hunger of the human
heart, and this sacred meal of the Mass is the place where
hunger of the human heart, and this sacred meal of the Mass
is the place where he feeds us.”

ONE FAITH/ONE FAMILY
This week, we hope you will review the Bishop’s Annual Stewardship
Appeal information you have received. The theme of the Appeal is:
"One Faith. One Family”.
The Bishop’s Annual Stewardship Appeal is different than a one-time
special collection. It is a pledge campaign where you are invited to
make a pledge payable over six months.
A gift to the Bishop’s Annual Stewardship Appeal will touch the lives
of many others in a very positive way. The Bishop’s Annual Stewardship Appeal provides critical funding to pay for the education of our
seminarians, to help the poor and those facing emergencies through
Catholic Charities, to provide support for designated Catholic
schools, and to enable new communications and evangelization to our
faithful, our youth and young adults, and our fallen away brothers
and sisters. As you review the vocations and ministries the Appeal
supports, please reflect on your gifts. God has given you all that you
have. Your gifts to our parish, to the Diocese, and to the work of the
Church throughout the world are a disciple’s response.
Sometimes it is difficult to envision how one pledge can help an organization the size of our Diocese, how it can make a real difference.
But, each pledge does make a difference because all parishes participate in the campaign and the gifts of many enable our Diocese to
serve and minister to so many more. Our combined gifts not only
signify our gratitude to God, they glorify Him by enabling the work of
our Diocese.
If you received your pledge form in the mail, please complete it and
mail it back, or bring it with you to Mass next week. For those of you
who did not receive a mailing or have not had time to respond to it,
we will conduct our in-pew pledge process at all Masses next weekend and the following weekend.
Thank you for your prayerful consideration and generous response.
