för kvinnor som vill lära sig att cykla. Vi träffas vid
10 tillfällen under september och oktober månad.
Kursen kommer att hållas i närheten av Fyrklöverområdet. Vi lånar dig en cykel under kursens gång
och du får en egen cykelhjälm som du får behålla.

mångkulturella trafiksäkerhetsförening.

During 2004, Lundby Mobility Centre has disseminated information about car sharing schemes, cycling, public transport
etc., in conjunction with 29 activities in the Lundby area. This
has taken place in collaboration with ‘Västtrafik’ (regional public transport authority), the district administration of Lundby,
City Car Club, Sunfleet Carsharing, Hisingen Car Co-op, the
western branch of the Swedish National Road Administration,
Co-op Konsum Eriksberg, Willys Cykel, Hisingen Cycle Club
and Färdtjänsten, a transportation service for the elderly and
disabled.

The number of car-sharing schemes in Lundby increased during
2004. City Car Club, previously with only individuals as customers,
began approaching businesses during the year. The result – an increased number of such cars in Lundby. Eriksberg, with just one
car earlier, now has three. At the same time, four new companies
joined. A new car-sharing scheme started up at Snickeriet in the
summer. Information about car sharing and an invitation to test
the concept for four months without paying the fi xed charge was
distributed to 3500 households in west Lundby during the year. 46
households availed themselves of the opportunity and have been

Two cycle publications were produced in 2004, one an information
booklet in which the connection between the bicycle and time,
safety, the environment, the economy and health were highlighted
and the other a cycle leaflet showing four planned cycling routes
taking in places of cultural, environmental and historic interest in
Lundby. Having distributed information to 6000 households in central Lundby, six guided tours following these routes were arranged,
with the guide talking about local places of interest, buildings and
surroundings areas. These tours have been much appreciated with
many inquisitive local residents taking part.
The spring cycle day at Eriksbergstorget offered basic cycle
maintenance services, information, competitions, guided tours
and discounted cycle accessories. Staff from NTF (The National
Society for Road Safety) and GMTF (The Göteborg Multicultural
Traffic Safety Association), Agenda 21 and Lundby’s city office was
also on hand. Prior to this activity, an invitation and general cycling
information had been sent out to 3500 households in the west of
Lundby.
During the year, 600 cyclists were presented with awards such
as reflectors and cycle repair kits as both encouragement and as a
token of gratitude for their having chosen an exemplary mode of
travel. A cycling course for female residents of Lundby was also arranged. Ten women met ten times with an instructor to put the art
of bicycling to the test. The course was arranged in collaboration
with GMTF. The Lundby Mobility Centre cycling reference group
met four times during 2004 to discuss cycling matters; it also arranged a number of cycling activities.

continue.
In the autumn a further 4000 households were informed
about car-sharing schemes and earlier in the spring all Lundby
residents found information in their letterboxes at the same
time as a bus advertising campaign in Göteborg. This campaign was repeated on city buses during the autumn.
The most part of our work this year has focused on increasing membership in existing car sharing schemes in Lundby.
We also decided to follow five participating households more
closely for a one-year period. These drivers kept a simple
log of their activities and it was abundantly clear after just six
months that they used their own cars less, used their bicycles
more and walked or used public transport more than previously. This monitoring programme of our test drivers will end
in 2005 and a more detailed evaluation will subsequently be
presented.
Lundby Mobility Centre has given training to sales representatives at JM Bygg AB, a building company, and explained
to them about the workings of the car sharing schemes. This
will hopefully mean that car-sharing schemes become an additional sales argument when they market their accommodations.
Four times in the spring and four times in the autumn of
2004, ‘Give-it-a-try’ meetings were held at which local residents were given car-sharing scheme demonstrations and
told how the booking system works.
As of December this year there are eleven car-sharing
schemes in Lundby. They are:

Each year the average resident of Göteborg makes 1000
travel choices. Each and every one will have an effect on
the air we breathe and traffic congestion in the city.
During the year we have campaigned to show the alternatives to the car as a means of transport and to point out
what these choices mean in terms of time and money as
well as the environment and our health. Our aim is that
more and more Lundby residents will think twice next
time they consider using their car - and hopefully break
the habit.

2004 - an intensive year for intelligent travel
choices!
Lundby Mobility Centre has been operating for more than two years. Our working
methods have become firmly established
and fine-tuned and a valuable exchange of
ideas has taken place.
Activities aimed at individuals have been
successful. Lundby Mobility Centre has many
Lundby residents at meetings and various
activities such as award presentations, training courses and in reference groups.
The number of businesses represented
in our network has increased. Dialogue has
taken various forms at meetings, via mail
shots, personal contacts, questionnaires
and working breakfasts and lunches. Topics
centred on how to improve the local environment while reducing their own running costs
and Lundby Mobility Centre has informed
participants about clean vehicles, car sharing, freight management, travel planning
and video-conferencing.
In April and September, ten inveterate
car drivers employed by the district administration of Lundby left their cars at home and
commuted on bicycles instead. They were
participating in a project in which we wanted to quantify the health and environmental benefits of cycling instead of driving.
Follow up and evaluation are important.
The annual questionnaires and evaluations
have shown that Lundby Mobility Centre
has achieved recognition and that interest
for our work is constantly increasing. Work
on summarising our efforts and experiences
intensified this year and will continue in
2005, a year in which we will move to new
premises with greater public access.

Kvaerner arbetar aktivt
med resor och transporter
–Vi kartlade alla våra leverantörer och minskade
ner på antalet. Varför ska vi ha olika leverantörer
som levererar likartade produkter men till olika
avdelningar, säger Tina Wolkenhauer på Kvaerner.
Projektet riktar sig till företag, som vill utveckla och
effektivisera sina leveranssystem tillsammans med
sina leverantörer. Första varugruppen är kontorsmaterial.

TG Skrivab, Wettergrens, Corporate Express, Lyreco
och Svanströms.
Kvaerner Power AB är ett medelstort företag
och genererar en hel del transporter av både
personal och gods. Kvaerner som är certifierat
enligt ISO 9 001 och snart också ISO 14 001,
arbetar aktivt med att effektivisera alla sina
transporter. Man har fokuserat på att förbättra
godsleveranssystemet till och från företaget.
En av åtgärderna för att minska antalet godstransporter är att anlita endast ett fåtal transportörer av gods till och från företaget.
De ställer vidare krav på sina leverantörer att
anlita speditören DHL och köper själva tjänsten
”Gröna ton”.
Kvaerner deltar i projekt Godssamverkan i
Lundby och har tillsammans med sin kontorsmaterialgrossist Svanström sett över inköpsrutiner och utarbetat ett nytt leveranssätt.
– Genom bättre rutiner har risken för att stå
utan en viss produkt minskat och vi har även
fått bättre kontakt med vår leverantör, säger
Tina Wolkenhauer.

scheme? A report covering the project’s methodology and
its results has been presented.
This project was conducted by Lundby Mobility Centre,
in collaboration with the Traffic & Public Transport Authority, ‘Västtrafik’ (regional public transport authority), Västra
Götalands Region and the western branch of the Swedish
National Road Administration.
Children and youth
Six teams of teachers from Rambergsskolan, Kärrdalsskolan
and Bräckeskolan have been working with their pupils using
the story line method, based on the three story lines developed by the project – Min väg (My way), Pendlar-Kalle (Commuting Carl) and Kär och galen (Madly in love).
The entire process, from teacher training to performance
in the classrooms was evaluated between November 2003
and April 2004.
The teachers were very satisfied with the method, the
materials used and the supervision. They were also of the
opinion that the story line method was eminently suitable
as a means of incorporating traffic awareness into other
classroom activities. On the other hand, teachers’ interest in
teaching more about traffic has not increased much. Based
on interviews of pupils in classes 7 to 9, we could observe
differences in their attitudes and how they themselves described their traffic awareness before and after the project.
On December 3rd the pupils of Bräckeskolan presented
suggestions about the traffic situation outside their school.
A good number of these suggestions will be adopted by the
Traffic & Public Transport Authority.
In May 2004, pupils from Kärrdalsskolan had the opportunity to present their work within the framework of the
international conference ‘Learning to Change our World’.
They had worked with the Pendlar-Kalle story line and presented it for delegates from Brazil, India, Macedonia, Sweden and Zambia.
During the autumn of 2004 work continued to spread
the story lines to teachers in Göteborg. The three story lines
and inspirational material will be published in the new year.
Travel pat tern sur veys
A company’s communication needs can relate to
transport of goods or staff, to punctuality or to
customer accessibility. Whatever the requirement,
effective and sustainable transport solutions need
to be established. In Lundby, our aim is to develop,
test and establish attractive transport solutions
that will meet these requirements.
The demand for more information about employee travel
habits has been one of the fundamental reasons for developing, distributing and making available on the web site a
travel pattern survey. The web survey has been utilised by
three companies representing a total of 340 employees and
the reply statistic was 80%. Of these, 90% were positive to
the fact that the company was conducting the survey. The
results enabled an analysis of attitudes to be carried out and
the implementation of measures for improving transport efficiency and improving the service for better communication
and accessibility.

In our contacts with management and owners we have noticed great interest in matters related to vehicle and freight
management, and parking, cycling and travel patterns generally. Of great assistance was the ‘Analysis of travel habits’
survey that we offer businesses. Apart from establishing
new contacts, we have assiduously maintained our existing
contacts. 29 meetings were held with new companies with a
further 30 being contacted by phone. 27 return visits were
paid to existing contacts.

A large number of companies and jobs have come to Lundby this year as well, 800 of these at Lindholmen. Of these,
Lundby Mobility Centre and Västtrafik visited Ericsson and
Föreningssparbanken, providing information about public
transport, cycling and pedestrian alternatives for accessing
Norra Älvstranden. That this is an effective approach was
born out by a survey conducted later at one of the companies. 34% of car drivers said they were willing to try alternative forms of transport to and from work. In all, 1000 people
have been given information on 13 separate occasions.

Older cars not equipped with catalytic converters account
for more than half the emissions of hydrocarbons, carbon
monoxide and sulphur oxides in Sweden, this despite the
fact that their total mileage represents only 10% of the aggregate total. For this reason, the ‘Scrap that car’ campaign
was initiated in 2003 in order to draw attention to the problem. The result was that 96 residents of Lundby chose to
scrap their cars during the winter of 2003 in exchange for
one-year public transport season tickets or a one year membership of a car-sharing scheme.
These 96, as well as the 200 who had decided not to
scrap their cars, were followed up through telephone interviews, typical questions asked being – Why did you decide
to scrap your car? Have your travel habits changed? Will you

To increase car-drivers’ awareness of the importance of such
factors as their driving styles, the age of their cars and of
car maintenance, private car drivers in Lundby have,
for the third time, been able to measure their cars’
exhaust emission levels by driving past a mobile
exhaust emission measuring station with a result display. Between 27th September and
29th October the measuring station was
set up on Björlandavägen next to Tolered Church. At the same time 4500
households twice received information about the project and in the
area, various activities informed the
public about alternative means of
transport. Not only information
but also a guided cycle tour was
offered. All participating cyclists
received a present.
4000 car owners in the area were
also contacted by phone and offered information about public
transport, cycling and how to
be a ‘smarter driver’. Prior to and
subsequent to the period, telephone interviews were conducted
with xx individuals to ascertain the
efficacy of the campaign. A total of
192,000 cars passed the measuring
station.
This project was conducted by Lundby Mobility Centre in collaboration with
the Swedish National Road Administration, ‘Västtrafik’ (regional public transport
authority) and the Göteborg Air Quality Programme.

The Lundby travel and transp or t plan
In order to demonstrate for other districts and councils what
it does for them, the district administration of Lundby is collaborating with
Lundby Mobility Centre to produce a Travel and Transport Plan for the district administration that will help to increase awareness and develop the projects. The aim is to
show that all travel and transport issues can be dealt with
by one administrative function – business and work-related
travel and freight transport.
During the autumn of 2004, a travel survey and a freight
survey been conducted and, using the results of these in
conjunction with the results from an earlier survey on business trips, there is now sufficient information on which to
base further work. A report is in preparation and will be presented together with an information leaflet in the summer of
2005.

Freight C ollaboration in Lundby
The Freight Collaboration in Lundby project was started by
The City of Göteborg and AB Volvo. It is operated by Lundby Mobility Centre in collaboration with Norra Älvstranden
Utveckling AB. The idea is to inform businesses of their part
in the transport chain so that they then seek to improve delivery efficiency. This is done in collaboration with suppliers
of office materials. The advantages of freight collaboration
are manifold: less local deliveries, fewer invoices, larger orders engendering better negotiating positions, better stock
control; and not least, it represents a tangible effort to improve the environment.
An improved communication plan has been developed
resulting in a more structured approach to our work with
Lundby-based companies. Information will not only be distributed by post or via personal contacts but also by utilising
the web site. Two companies have joined the project this
year and the total thus far is now 19. Participating suppliers
of office materials are Corporate Express, Lyreco, Svanströms, TG Skrivab and Wettergrens.
The project was represented at the Ecology fair in Göteborg and the work of the City of Göteborg regarding freight
management was presented at a seminar with the theme
‘Heavy Goods Vehicles and the Environment’.
Also during 2004, the degree work of two students from
Chalmers Lindholmen – Daniel Göransson and Stanley Arévalo – covered the transport of both freight and people in
and out of the Lindholmen campus.
Heav y Eco driving
This year, Lundby Mobility Centre started a training course
in Heavy Eco driving in collaboration with two companies in
Lundby. Eight drivers from KC Åkeri AB completed the course during the autumn. The aim is to create driving techniques that are more economical and more environmentally
friendly. The companies participating will be monitored
each quarter during 2005 to see how much they have reduced their overall fuel consumption.

Interest for company car sharing schemes continues unabated. SunFleet Carsharing and City Car Club have both increased the number of cars in their fleets and the number of
participants. Together, SunFleet Carsharing and City Car
Club have a total of ten cars and about 100 participants
from 11 companies. In order to increase visibility and accessibility, Lundby Mobility Centre has exhibited and demonstrated the cars near local company’s premises. On twelve
occasions, well over 100 visitors found out more about car
sharing at Lindholmen Science Park and at Eriksbergstorget.
In order to further improve communication, five participating companies will be monitored during 2005.
‘Corporate Cycling Catalysts’
A number of larger companies have been asked to participate in a cycling network in which members cycle to and
from work. All ‘Cycling Catalysts’ are also contact persons at
their companies, ready to answer questions about cycling.
The aim of this project is, of course, to increase the number
of people who commute on bicycles but also to ensure that
the situation for cyclists improves. It is hoped that a permanent corps of ‘catalysts’ will soon be found at many more
places of work. Four major companies have so far agreed to
take part, resulting in six ‘Corporate Cycling Catalysts’ who
will gather comments, meet regularly and suggest the most
important measures that can be taken both by companies
and the council.
Hälsotramparna (Cyclists for health)
Ten inveterate car drivers, all employees of the district administration of Lundby, left their cars at home between April
and November and commuted to work on bicycles instead.
The idea behind this is to be able to quantify the health,
environmental, economy and time-related benefits that accrue from swapping a car for a bicycle. Another goal is to
initiate discussion about what is required in order to convince drivers to leave their cars at home. The results will be
presented in a report in January 2005.

Four meetings were held at companies in 2004.
In April the topic was how to better utilise the telephone
and the benefits of the web and video conferencing in order
to cut back on business trips. Three Lundby-based companies related their experiences of these alternatives and the
possibilities and economic benefits they created. Peter Arnfalk from the International Environment Institute has done
research into environmental and economic benefits. His talk
was followed by a presentation by a representative of Telia,
who talked about an internal meetings policy that helps reduce the number of unnecessary business trips.
In May, Mats-Ola Larsson of Miljöfordon (Clean vehicle) i
Göteborg and Lars Petersson from Ynnor discussed vehicle
management and car economy. Tax regulations regarding
various fuels were discussed, with corporate car-sharing
schemes of particular interest.
At a working lunch in September held in conjunction
with the Norra Älvstranden Business Association the theme was ‘New travel habits at Älvstranden’. Lundby Mobility
Centre explained why businesses utilise new technologies
and ‘smart services’ in the development of their transport
systems.
A breakfast meeting in October covered the topic of
environmental management and transport. Two companies
that work actively with these issues participated and presented their work. They were Kvaerner Power AB and Rodhe
Tankrengörning AB.

Hälsotramparna
Tio vanebilister anställda på Stadsdelsförvaltningen Lundby har nu valts ut och skall fr o m. april ställa bilen
och istället cykla till och från jobbet under sju månaders tid. Syftet är att mäta de hälso-, miljö-, ekonomi- och
tidseffekter som utfaller av övergången från bil till cykel.

Cykeldag i Lundby
Den 8 maj arrangerar Lundby Mobility Centre en Cykeldag för boende och verksamma i stadsdelen. Mängder av

Bilpooler i Lundby
Under våren erbjuder Lundby Mobility Centre i samarbete med City Car Club (fd Statoil Bilpool) Lundbybor att
prova bilpool i fyra månader. De som vill prova bilpool under denna tid betalar mil- och timkostnaden. På så sätt
kan förhoppningsvis fler upptäcka fördelarna med att vara med i bilpool.
Under mars månad finns bilpoolsinformation på alla bussar i Göteborg. Cirka 250 bussar är under en hel månad
skyltade med information om bilpooler i Lundby. Denna satsning är en del i vårens bilpools-kampanj.

Utvärdering av avgasmätning
Avgasmätningen som gjordes vid Eriksberg Köpcentrum hösten 2003 har utvärderats. 300 personer har telefonintervjuats. Resultaten visar att informationen nått fram och att kampanjen uppmärksammats av majoriteten.
De kampanjer som genomförts om bilpooler och Skrota bilen har tillsammans med avgasmätningen gett tydliga
synergieffekter.

Årliga enkäten klar
I november 2003 skickades en enkät ut till 600 företag och 600 privatpersoner i Lundby och motsvarande i
Centrum. Resultatet visar att det är för tidigt att se tydliga trender när det gäller förändrade attityder och
beteenden. Däremot har målgrupperna i stor utsträckning nåtts av den information som förmedlats inom de
olika delprojekten. Det finns områden där företag och privatpersoner har fått ett ökat intresse och en positiv
attityd till, sparsam körning, miljöfordon, alternativa bränslen och bilpooler.

Guidade cykelturer
Under året har Lundby Mobility Centre
anordnat ett antal guidade turer på cykel.
Vi har följt de rutter som finns tryckta i
häftet ”På cykel i Lundby” och guiden
har berättat om intressanta platser,
byggnader, omgivningar mm. Turerna
har varit väldigt uppskattade och en hel
del nyfikna stadsdelsbor har deltagit.

vi vid Preem-macken i Tolered för en
guidad cykeltur. Följ med!

– För oss har det bara inneburit fördelar.
Nu kan jag vara hemma längre tid med
Sixten. Det hade vi aldrig haft råd till om
vi haft egen bil, säger Patric Kennerud.
Malin Kennerud hade gått och funderat
på bilpool ett tag, Patric var dock tveksam.
När de fick erbjudande att gå med kom
familjen dock överens om att prova under
ett år. De bestämde sig för att göra sig av
med sin gamla bil och gick med i City Car
Club:s bilpool.
Inga inskränkningar
– Vi bestämde oss för att inte ha några inskränkningar när det gällde att använda
bilpoolsbilen. När vi behövde bil bokade
vi utan tanke på eventuella kostnader.
När de efter ett tag såg över kostnaderna
för användandet av bilpoolsbilen visade det
sig att de hade sparat rejält med pengar.
Kostnaderna var mindre än kostnaderna
för endast bensinen till den tidigare ägda
bilen. Men det var ändå inte ekonomin
som var avgörande för att gå med i bilpoolen. Att få tillgång till en ny, säker bil
och slippa alla bekymmer som följer med
egen bil var det som lockade.
Vision Lundby

en förebild
Vision Lundby är ett långsiktigt samverkansprojekt där målet är att utveckla
nya trafik- och transportlösningar som
är effektivare och mindre miljöstörande.
Lundby skall bli en förebild för en långsiktigt hållbar stadsmiljö, och tanken är
att den kunskap som utvecklas i Lundby
ska kunna nyttjas även på andra håll.
Ger oss frihet
– Det är bekvämt att vara med i bilpool.
Nu slipper vi allt arbete som följer med
egen bil. Det ger en frihetskänsla och ändå
har vi tillgång till bil som står nära vår
bostad och som vi bokar enkelt över nätet.
Att få tillgång till bil när familjen behöver har heller inte varit något problem.
Trots att de ibland bokat bil några timmar
innan användandet har de fått tag i ledig bil.
– Vi trodde att vi skulle behöva boka bil
ett bra tag i förväg. Det har dock visat sig
att så behövs inte. Det har också gjort att
vi kunnat vara mer spontana vilket passar
oss bra.

Arbetet med att få företag att arbeta
med resor och transporter genom att
diskutera lösningar direkt med dom,
är relativt nytt. I Göteborg behövs
mer kunskap om vad som ger resultat
och det är därför som Lundby Mobility
Centre testar olika metoder för att nå
ut. Lösningarna kan vara bilpool, miljöfordon, samordnade godstransporter,
cykel och kollektivtrafik till och från
arbetet, men också att arbeta hemma
en dag i veckan och slippa resan till
arbetet.
På Lundby Mobility Centre arbetar tre personer med företagen, genom
att möta chefer och ansvariga. Ett 80tal företag har besökts. Ett annat sätt
är att ge anställda, som står inför att resa
till en ny arbetsplats i Lundby, information om cykel och kollektivtrafik.
Som till exempel Ericsson i Gårda,
Skår och Lackarebäck och Föreningssparbanken i Nordstan som flyttat till
Lindhomen. 2000 anställda på olika
företag har informerats. Och många
av dessa kan tänka sig att cykla eller
åka kollektivt till jobbet!
Samtidigt inser många företag fördelarna och som Micael Caiman, platschef på Ericsson vid Lindholmspiren
uttrycker det:
- Att cykla till jobbet innebär ju fördelar både för medarbetaren och företaget, som förbättrad hälsa och minskade
kostnader för parkering. Vi uppmuntrar
därför våra medarbetare, som bor inom
cykelavstånd, att ta cykeln till jobbet.

För familjen Kennerud blev
anslutningen till bilpool
en succé. Från att varit
allmänt skeptisk till bilpool förbyttes skepsis till
entusiasm. Nu har de fått
mer tid för barnet Sixten,
tillgång till en ny, säker bil
och större frihetskänsla.

Effective dissemination of information and effective communication are the
pre-requisites for creating contacts that, within the scope of the Vision
Lundby project, bring together consumers, suppliers and other interested
parties. The aim is to meet the transport needs in the area.

VISION LUNDBY 2003
Avgasmätningen går till så att när bilen
passerar mätstationen bryts en infraröd
stråle, som på bråkdelen av en sekund
mäter avgasernas sammansättning.
Resultatet visas direkt på en skärm.
Det är tredje gången mätningar genomförs i Lundby. Hösten 2003 fanns stationen vid Eriksbergs köpcentrum och då
passerade över 94 000 bilar mätstationen.
Under denna mätning kommer
bilägare som bor i området runt stationen
att kontaktas. Vi erbjuder då information
om cykel, kollektivtrafik, bra tips för
bilen mm. Varje göteborgare gör i genomsnitt 1000 resval per år, till och från
jobbet exempelvis. Genom information
om vad valen betyder i tid, pengar,
hälsa och miljö vill vi få fler att tänka
efter, innan de sätter sig i bilen.
Elever på Toleredsskolan och Lerlyckeskolan kommer också att arbeta
med olika verksamheter som knyter an
till avgasmätningen.
Med mätningen vill Lundby
Mobility Centre också fästa uppmärksamhet på att den egna körstilen påverkar
avgasnivån och att en dåligt servad bil
pågår!

Lundby Mobility Centre held a number of external activities during
2004 with the aim of demonstrating and marketing its activities at as
many places where the residents of Lundby are to be found as possible. On these occasions information was presented about, for example, car sharing schemes, cycling, public transport and walking.
The activities were held at:
Backaplan, Wieselgrensplatsen, Bjurslätts torg, Eriksberg shopping
centre, The Lindholmen campus, Hjalmar Brantingsplatsen, Eriksbergshallen, Kyrkbytorget, Hisingen library, Kyrkbyns library, Älvstrandens library and Navet-Lindholmen.

Companies have been invited to working breakfasts and lunches
on three occasions. The topics covered were car sharing schemes,

For ten weeks, 28 students and 7 teachers
and researchers worked with about 250 public
representatives worked on the case study. The

Lundby, b) to make the researchers aware of socially–related issues and c) to help the students
deal with real and complex developmental problems. The participants evaluated the criteria
and the scenarios in order to be able to subsequently discuss prospects for development.

Two so-called C essays have been written by
Sara Persson. ‘Traffic planning for sustainable
development – Vision Lundby as an example’
investigates how Mobility Management can be
used as a tool to deal with the problems that
a mass car culture can create. Lundby Mobility
Centre is given as a concrete example.
‘A holistic approach to a sustainable system of transport’ investigates the effects of the
‘Scrap-that-car’ project.
Daniel Göransson and Stanley Arévalo, two
students from Chalmers Lindholmen, had as
their examination work – Investigation of human
and freight flows to and from the Lindholmen

Follow up
Vision Lundby is a long-term development project aimed at changing attitudes and
behaviour. Evaluation and follow-up methods are not necessarily perfect but it is
important that they are used in order to generate method development in our work
and to be able to quantify and show results. During the past year, work has been
intensified on establishing evaluation plans for both the project as a whole and for
its sub-projects.

CI V ITA S Cit y of the Year
For the first time ever in the CIVITAS programme, a Europa prize was
awarded under the heading Clean City Transport. And the prize was
awarded to Göteborg. The motivation was that Göteborg had succeeded in presenting the CIVITAS concept to its own citizens as well
as to other cities and administrations. Göteborg had also integrated
CIVITAS into its transport policy.
TARGET (Travel Awareness and Regional Groups for Environmental
Transport)
In this project, started in 2002, Göteborg collaborated during the year
with Yorkshire & Humber, UK; Bremen, Germany; Odense, Denmark
and Euregio Scheldemond, Belgium/Holland. The steering committee has met twice during the year. Focus was concentrated on marketing results and transfer of experiences between the participating
countries. The sub-project managers held two working meetings. Within each group, discussion topics were problems, ideas, solutions and
elements that are directly transferable.

Vision Lundby has as its goal to work on supplying the best
information possible to both individuals and businesses.
This information will eventually lead to a change in attitudes
and behaviour with regard to travel and transport choices.
In order to quantify this work, questionnaires have been
sent each autumn to households and workplaces in Lundby
and to the city centre as a reference. The first questionnaire
was distributed in November 2002 and the second in November 2003. The aim was to ascertain whether we could
see any long-term changes regarding the understanding of
the information sent out, in attitudes and in behaviour in
Vision Lundby’s area of operation, namely sustainable transport solutions.
In 2004, the questionnaire was again sent out in November to 600 residents and 600 companies chosen at random
in Lundby. This year, rather than sending the questionnaire
to the city centre, our aim has been to strengthen parts of
Lundby with 300 extra questionnaires to households in those areas where the results have especially intensive.
Exhaus t Emis sion Measuring in Lundby
TELLUS (Transport & Environment Alliance for Urban Sustainability)
In this project, we compared our experiences with Rotterdam, Berlin,
Gdynia and Bucharest. The project began on February 1st 2002 is
now halfway along, continuing for another two years. At the halfway
evaluation at the EU Commission, TELLUS was praised as being one
of the most successful projects in the CIVITAS programme. Anneli
Hulthén, a municipal commissioner, represents Göteborg on the CIVITAS policy advisory committee with two meetings being held by this
political group during the year. Two project meetings were also held
within the framework of TELLUS. The meeting in Rotterdam was held
in conjunction with the CIVITAS forum, an annual conference at which
focus this year was on Mobility Management.
Vison Lundby is represented in TELLUS by the Freight Collaboration
in Lundby project.
GUIDEMAPS (Gaining Understanding of Improved Decision Making
and Participation Strategies)
Guidemaps is a European research project, the aim of which is to
identify those obstacles that inhibit the successful implementation
of sustainable transport. A guide has been prepared that gives examples of transport projects, the success of which was due to broad
partnerships and a high acceptance rate. Vision Lundby is just one
of many European projects that are being examined.
Under perioden 25 augusti-26 september fanns utrustning
för avgasmätning på plats vid Eriksberg Köpcenter. Under
perioden har Lundby Mobility Centre anordnat ett antal
arrangemang på olika platser för att informera om avgasmätningen och alternativ till bil.
Tre olika utskick gick ut till 3 500 hushåll i området.
Under mätperioden passerade 94 338 fordon mätutrustningen.
Efter mätperioden följdes resultaten upp (under novemberdecember) genom telefonintervjuer med 300 hushåll. Med
hjälp av intervjuerna undersöktes om man uppfattat mätningen, om man sett utskicken och förstått informationen.
Resultaten visar att informationen nått fram och att
kampanjen uppmärksammats av många: hälften av de tillfrågade hade sett avgasmätningsskylten vid Eriksberg och
88 % hade uppmärksammat information om kampanjen.
Efter mätperioden följdes resultaten upp (under novemberdecember) genom telefonintervjuer med 300 hushåll. Med
hjälp av intervjuerna undersöktes om man uppfattat mätningen, om man sett utskicken och förstått informationen.

Town S quare ac tivitie s
Under 2003 har Lundby Mobility Centre hållit 14 torgaktiviteter på olika platser i Lundby. För att undersöka hur aktiviteterna och informationen tagits emot av Lundbyborna.
Sammanlagt 168 personer intervjuades. Bland dessa fanns
både de som fått information och de som bara råkat passera. 64 % av de som tillfrågades hade uppmärksammat
aktiviteten och ca 60 % ansåg att informationen var bra.
T ELLU S
Within the framework of this EU project, evaluation work has
continued during the year, with continuous measurement
and follow up in all sub-projects. An evaluation plan has been
created for each city, enabling comparison and creating accessibility to the concrete results of each project. Indicators
used follow MAESTRO guidelines. Work on an evaluation report and what it should include has been initiated.
TARGET
Continuous follow up during the year here too, based on the
comprehensive evaluation plan developed by the EU project, TELLUS, in accordance with the MOST model.
The plan includes clearly defined goals, targets and the
methods to be used. As a complement to the comprehensive
plan, there are a number of other plans for the sub-projects
with clearly defined goals and specification of indicators.
