Welcome to Price’s Fork Elementary School
We would like to take this opportunity to welcome each of you and your families to Price’s Fork
Elementary School for the 2015-2016 year. We are planning to have an amazing year, but cannot
do it without your help. This packet will tell you how you can help the PTA have our most successful
year ever!
Currently, our PTA board consists of both parents and teachers who volunteer their time to
enhance the educational experience of every child in our school. Meetings are held on a monthly basis
and are used to discuss upcoming events, how we can better improve events, fundraising and how we
can best support our students and staff. It is our goal to keep all meetings to a one-hour time frame.
We welcome anyone who would like to join our board or who are simply interested in participating in
monthly meetings.
The PFES PTA’s mission is to promote open communication and understanding between parents
and staff at Price’s Fork Elementary School. Our commitment is to enhance and maximize the
education of every child while aiding them in achieving their highest potential. We work to promote
this mission in many ways.
For interested parents and families, the PTA sends out a weekly email “This Week at PFES”.
This email is sent at the beginning of each week and will provide you with information about upcoming
events, after school activities, grade level field trips and much more. If you are interested in receiving
this weekly email, please complete the PFES PTA Parent/Caregiver Contact Form.
In addition to communication, we work to provide our children, staff and families of PFES with family
fun activities, educational opportunites, grants to classroom teachers as well as equipment to make
PFES a fun place for our children to be.
To meet this extremely important goal the organization
actively fundraises through various ongoing and event specific programs and activities. Last year, our
record breaking high fundraising was able to provide PFES with cultural arts events, Mathseeds,
Reading Eggs, BrainPop, (computer programs used daily in the classrooms) enrichment programs including field trips, in-school events, Field Day, the new “Playground Zipline (coming soon), Trikes
for PK-2nd grade" and many, many more.
In order to continue to provide our school with these opportunities we need your help! Participation
in the PTA program here at Price’s Fork has been dwindling. It is a goal of this year’s PTA board to
increase parent participation. At our first monthly meeting on August 13 at 6:00pm, our board will be

looking to explore creative ways to increase participation. Won't you join us?

PTA Membership Dues
Within this packet you will find a envelope, please enclose $10 cash, check or credit card #
and join the PTA. Joining the PTA allows you to receive a PTA card, you will receive
discounts to various locations (from VA PTA) .You automatically become a member of
Price’s Fork, state, and national PTA s with this fee.
1. I don’t have time to volunteer; do I have to agree to anything if I sign up?
a)
No, by paying PTA dues you do not have to agree to volunteer, attend meetings or
anything else, you are just stating you are a member of the Parent Teacher Association.
In exchange the PTA receives a donation of $10. We take part of this money and turn it
into VA State PTA for your state and national PTA dues. The other part is used for
classroom grants for each classroom.
2. What do I get for signing up to be a member?
a)
You will receive $1 off first purchase from the Puma Store (information on pages 7-8).
b)
You will receive a PTA membership card that offers you special deals (from VA PTA)
this card will be sent home by October 1. Deals such as 10% off Great Wolf Lodge,
14% off T-Mobile cell phone bills, discounts at Schwann’s, Hertz, AARP, Staples, and
many, many more.
c)
We will add you to the “This Week at PFES” List serve so you can receive an email
every week informing you of upcoming special events at the school, important
information for the week, and PTA information.

PFES Reward Programs
Amazon Smiles:
Signup for Amazon Smiles at http://smile.amazon.com Under the select your own charity
type ‘Price’s Fork’, select our school on the next page. Share our link with family and friends,
each time you shop use the link above. If you just go to amazon.com we will not get rewards.
This will not require you to create a new account you can use your regular amazon account.
Box Tops:
Collect Box Tops and submit to the school office or your teacher regularly! Box Tops can
be found on many grocery items and school supplies.
Coke Rewards:
By drinking the Coca-Cola products your family already enjoys, you can get My Coke
Rewards points and donate them to help our school. Sign up at mycokerewards.com Sign in
or register if this is your first time. There are 2 ways to donate. Click on Causes and the on
the Learn More section, enter your school information ‘Prices Fork’. Click on View Profile
and choose your donation. All points are turned into cash and donated to the school by
Coke Rewards. You may also donate the caps to the school and we coordinate a volunteer
to enter them. (We also need a volunteer for this and it can be done at home)
Kroger Community Rewards:
Link your Kroger Card to PFES. Go to www.krogercommunityrewards.com and sign in or
create an account. Follow the instructions, then link your account. The code for PFES is
82010 or enter the first 3 letters of our school ‘PRI’ .
PFES PTA receives a donation from Kroger each time you present your Kroger card
(some items are excluded).

Shelor Growing the Future New or Used Vehicle Coupon:
Shelor Motor Mile will donate money to the school each time you purchase a vehicle from
them. They also give you a discount for presenting our coupon. Stop by the main office at
school to obtain a coupon.
Shelor Growing the Future Raffle Tickets:
In April and October of each year Shelor has a raffle giveaway. They select 10 finalists to
be present. The prizes include; 6th-10th place winners receive a $100 Matt Hagan
Outdoors Gift Card, 2nd-5th place winners receive cash prizes totaling $1,400 and one lucky
person wins a new vehicle. Raffle tickets can be purchased through the PTA to be
entered to win. All proceeds remain with the PFES PTA.
Each ticket costs $1 each and
you can purchase them by completing the Puma Order form on page 8 of this packet. You
may also stop by the school at anytime, email us at [email protected] or purchase online at
www.pricesfork.org.
Target Take Charge of Education:
Link your Target REDcard Credit Card/Debit Card to PFES PTA. Go to
www.target.com/redcard. Scroll down to Take Charge of Education and click ‘learn more’.
Scroll down to the sign me up location and type in the city, state, and school name as ‘Prices
Fork’, then click enroll. Once you locate our school, fill out the designate a school form. You
will need to enter your first name, last name, and REDcard number and click complete
enrollment. Target donates 1% of your purchase amount to PFES.

The PTA will be compiling the Family Directory this year. Because of FERPA laws the school
cannot release your information to us. We the PTA, see this as an opportunity for parents to be
able to make connections with other parents and staff.
The directory will be published alphabetically not by classroom, and would include information such
as parent(s) names, children’s names, student’s grade level, student’s teacher, address, phone number,
and email address. Only families that complete the form below will be included. Only families that sign
up for the directory will receive a copy.
