2010 Reunion Summaries
2010 Class Gatherings
1965/1966: Joint Reunion
The fabulous 44th and 45th “Leaders of the Pats” reunion of the classes of 1965
and 1966 was held during the weekend of October 1-2, 2010. The classes met
at Tale Gators on Friday evening, and then in Carroll‟s cafeteria on Saturday.
According to Michael Thompson ‟65 in summary
of the weekend events, “After months of
preparation by the hard-working reunion
committee and similar months of breathless
anticipation by former classmates, the special
reunion events came and went so quickly that it‟s a
little difficult to put it all in perspective. But there
are some things we know for certain. First, the
girls from the Class of '65 and '66 look every bit
as beautiful as they did 45+ years ago. The
guys…not so much. Second, from comments
we've already received, everyone had a wonderful
time. Third, everyone agreed that we should not wait another five years before
coming up with some excuse to once again get together.”

1968: 60th Birthday Party
The class of 1968 celebrated their 60th Birthday Party on July 24, 2010 at the Dayton Marriott and had a great
time! Not too many people made it outside to dance,
though: it was too HOT! Even in the heat, six
classmates joined together for the class golf outing in
the morning.
39 classmates attended. With partners, the group totaled
54 -- would have been 64 if everyone had made it who
thought they would. These numbers beat the last
birthday numbers! Two people (Mary O'Keefe and
Sharlene Blank Bruns) attended who never made it to a
reunion! Yahoo! Folks traveled in from Florida, New
York, Indiana, North Carolina, Tennessee, and from all
over OHIO.
Appetizers and birthday cupcakes were yummy, and visiting/catching-up was wonderful! It was hours until
classmates ran out of steam. They sang Happy Birthday to each other and had two toasts: one for the group and
one for those class members no longer with them. The last folks out the door left around 1:30 a.m.
Thanks to John Bucher for being the MC and for the class picture. Classmates who attended (picture does not
reflect this order): Mike Brown, Tom Bennett, Liz Bereda Matheney, Bonnie Orf Miller, Ed Yauch, John
Bucher, Mary O'Keefe, Jim Berry, Mary Grasse Berry, Paula Lout Studebaker, Jim Vondrell, Suzi Bockrath
Beall, Deb McGirr Jergens, Dick Wendeln, Tom Widin, Sue Augustine Widin, Ellen Neder Alexander, Steve
Haller, Tom Schaefer, Ned Flaute, Tom Lehman, Mary Cheers, Mitch Deis, Mike Deis, Tom Swindling, Jackie
Dirk Gavrian, Chris Iselin Foust, Bob Pierce, Bob Kesler, Diane Ferguson Morris, Kathy Fish Arquilla, Coni
Becker Dallhamer, Tom Ryan, Sharlene Blank Bruns, Mark Kelly, Jo Klawon, Cathy Wittman Klawon, Mike
Hirsch, and Debbie Brinkley Stephens. Debbie Brinkley Stephens left too early to be in the picture, and Jo &
Cathy (Wittman) Klawon and Mike Hirsch came too late.
Only three more years till our 45th! Make a commitment NOW to join in the fun!!!! Contact Diane Ferguson
Morris at [email protected] for class email updates. 102 members are now on the list.
1970
“Let‟s do it again – real soon, and more often!” That‟s the comment that
was made repeatedly during and after the Class of 1970‟s 40th class
reunion during Alumni Weekend, September 9-12, 2010. The ‟70
Patriots were extremely well represented at the Carroll Alumni night on
Friday, September 10. Pictured here (left to right) are Ray Ferguson ‟70,
Doug Hemmelgarn ‟73 and Greg Hemmelgarn ‟70 at Alumni Night.
Many also attended the memorial Mass to honor departed classmates on
September 12.
But Saturday, September 11, 2010 was the main event for the Class of ‟70. Held at Tink‟s, they had an
awesome, casual experience catching up with friends; recounting fun times; commiserating over challenging
classes; telling humorous stories of teachers, dates and general teen antics; regaling sports feats; remembering
My Fair Lady; and much more, including laughing over a wild event in 1969 that involved Twinkies?!! Fiftyfive 1970 grads and 16 spouses and guests attended the reunion. The invitation stated the reunion would be
held from 6:30-10:30 p.m.; the last group of reunited classmates left at 1:45 a.m. Great food (Thank you,
Tink!), a fantastic DJ, and 44 years of shared emotions and memories were the highlights of that extraordinary
night. Yes, let’s do it again – real soon!
The main planners were Ken Belcher, Kathy (Kuntz) Heeb, Joan (Rissinger) Ivory, Geri (Metz) Abell, John
Elking, Steve Beecroft, Kris (Kessel) Thurman, and Debbie (Giust) Vance.
1973
The 1973 Double Nickel Class Reunion was held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Quaker Steak & Lube in
Fairborn. There was a special appearance from The Maroon Balloon: Michael DeMonico, Steve Chilbert and
Mark Bidwell. It was a lot of fun!
1975
The 35th reunion of the class of 1975 was held on Saturday,
October 9, 2010 at the Walnut Grove Country Club. Bill
Baron ‟76 was the DJ. Everyone had a great time!
Committee members included Cathy (Wuebben) Jackson,
Celeste (Alexicko) Lane, Luann and Kenny Shelton, Nan
Christensen, Connie (Vondrell) Duncan, and Mark
Forsthoefel.
1980
The class of 1980 had
a great turnout at their
30th
reunion
on
August 6-7, 2010. 51
classmates showed up
at Beaver-Vu Bowling
Alley on Friday night,
and 35 attended the
event
at
Elsa‟s
Mexican Restaurant
on Saturday night.

1985
The 1985 25-year reunion was held during the weekend of July 9-10, 2010. A social was held on Friday at the
Brixx Ice Company Party Room and a class dinner with dancing was held at Bella Villa on Saturday. The class
had a great celebration! If anyone has any photos to share, please contact [email protected].
1990
The class of 1990 met for their 20-year
reunion over the weekend of July 1618, 2010. The weekend started out
informally on Friday night for a get
together at Frickers. Much time was
spent catching up seeing old friends.
Late night took many people over to
Taggerts for continued socializing and seeing additional people who were not able to attend earlier. Saturday
night was held at the IUE Hall on Woodman Drive for an evening of dinner and drinks. Over 100 people came
out and enjoyed more reminiscing and sharing current family pictures and plans. On Sunday, families were the
focus as we met at Indian Riffle Park for a grill out. Many children came along and much playing ensued.
After
a tough
kickball
game
and running around the playground,
everyone was properly worn out for the
trip back home. Hope to see everyone
at the 25-year in 2015!

1995
The class of 1995 celebrated their 15year reunion on July 30, 2010 at
Frickers on Woodman Drive.
Approximately 20 alumni attended
the event. Everyone got together for
good food, catching up, and
reminiscing. Pictured to the upper

2000
The class of 2000 celebrated their 10-year reunion August 14-15, 2010.
The fun began on Saturday, August 14th when the CHS alums converged at
Flanagan‟s Pub, near the University of Dayton. Very steadily, familiar
faces began to fill the bar and old classmates began to share their stories.
Late in the evening, Michael Sticka provided a particularly memorable
moment. He offered a brief toast to the Class of 2000 and to Carroll High
School as both “helped to shape us into the individuals that we have grown
to become.” After Michael‟s toast, the festivities carried on well into the
night.
The fun continued on Sunday, August 15th when diehard reunion-goers gathered for a pizza lunch at Marion‟s
in Beavercreek. As it turns out, the
pizza is still delicious after all these
years! Of course, “we need to be
honest here…the trip to Marion‟s
had its flaws. School buses did not
transport the Class of 2000 directly
from Carroll High School to
Marion‟s, and additionally, the
pizzas were not stacked and waiting
upon the tables. Apparently, much
has changed since high school.”
However, despite these setbacks,
most CHS alums seemed satisfied to
be “out-of-uniform” at Marion‟s,
spending time with some old
friends.
The 10-year reunion provided an
opportunity to reflect upon the past
and to remember the people who
helped the Class of 2000 along the way. Fortunately, there was a great turnout for the celebration, and many
alumni traveled from across the country in order to attend. Approximately 80 members from the Class of 2000
participated, and this tally rises to nearly 150 people when including spouses and significant others. Thanks to
all who attended.
2005
The class of 2005 held their 5-year reunion on Saturday, July 31, 2010. If anyone has any photos to share,
please contact [email protected].
