Rhonda’s Message
As I begin my
twentieth year at
Indian Hills, I am
elated to be a part of
a dynamic, evolving
organization and
to be involved in
Rhonda Conrad
one of the many,
many changes that is occurring at the
college.
The first of July, I accepted the role
as director of the IHCC Foundation.
It’s a very exciting position that offers
manyrewardsthroughtheopportunities
to help students. I’m fortunate to
follow in the footsteps of two great
former Foundation directors—Tom
Stewart, who retired at the end of June,
and Bob Morrissey, who retired from
Indian Hills and then returned as the
assistant to the president two years
ago. Both have been and continue to
be wonderful teachers.
The caring and supportive staff
members at Indian Hills Community
College help to make this job a little
easier. They believe in the mission of
the Foundation as evidenced by their
support. Following are just a few of
the wonderful things they have helped
to accomplish:
• Volunteering their time to raise
more than $44,000 in our three
special events
• Contributing or pledging nearly
$54,000 in the annual IHCC
Employee Giving Campaign to be
used for student scholarships
• Achieving our second consecutive
year of 100% participation of all
IHCC full-time staff in giving
money for scholarships
Indian Hills alumni are continuing
to become more involved with the
Foundation and the college through
volunteering their time during special
events, attending annual Homecoming
festivities, setting up designated
scholarships, and sending in donations.
Alumni continue to be one of the keys
to the college’s success as they are our
satisfied customers. Their positive
experiences at IHCC are what result
in our continued business. They
send their family members to IHCC
and they provide verbal and physical
support in so many ways. Information
about more than 150 alumni is listed
in the alumni update section of this
newsletter, and we’re receiving more
information daily.
With the change in my position,
I am pleased to announce Bianca
(Hendricks) Myers as the newly hired
development coordinator who will be
handling alumni relations. She is a
2002 IHCC alumnus, who is excited
and energized about her new position.
She is a pleasure to work with and is
a real asset to the Foundation and the
college. She is looking forward to
making many alumni connections and
organizing events.

Bianca’s Message
As a graduate of Indian Hills I am proud to introduce
myself as the new alumni coordinator. I attended Indian
Hills and played volleyball here from 2000-2002. After
graduating with an AA, I continued my education
Bianca Myers
and volleyball career at Park University in Parkville,
Missouri. I graduated in 2005 with my BA in history and
secondary education. In June of 2005, I married Chris Myers of Fairfield,
and in July, I began working at IHCC.
For the past two years, I have been the assistant volleyball coach,
dormitory supervisor, and building supervisor, and this year, I was also the
assistant softball coach. I began my new position as alumni coordinator
May 28, and I have retained my position as dorm supervisor.
I am excited to work with and meet students, alumni, and staff at the
upcoming events on both the Ottumwa and Centerville campuses. Please
call, email, or drop me a note to let me know how you have been doing and
what exciting news you have to share with the rest of the IHCC family! My
time at IHCC as a student was more than I ever expected it to be, so I’m
thrilled to be back working with the same people that made my first college
experience so enjoyable.
I would love to get reacquainted with my old classmates, and I look
forward to meeting all IHCC alumni! I give special thanks to all IHCC staff
who helped to shape me both during and after my education at IHCC!
If you have alumni information to share or questions about alumni events and gatherings, please

What I Miss The Most
When I retired on June 30 of this year, I wondered if I
would miss IHCC. I do.
As a college counselor, teacher, registrar & director of
the IHCC Foundation, I got to know many great students in
my 23 years at Indian Hills. I still care about those students.
Tom Stewart
I know that many students then as now struggled financially
to get through college. I know that with a little help, most
students can go on to lead happy, productive, successful lives.
As an IHCC alumnus (class of 1966), I will continue to help Indian Hills
College students with my donations to the IHCC Foundation. I urge my former
students to do the same.
I will enjoy hearing from my former students. E-mail: [email protected]
or write to me at 1618 North Court St., Ottumwa, IA 52501. Be well, do good
work, and keep in touch.

The newest addition to Indian Hills’ Ottumwa campus, the Rural Health Education Center, started holding classes in May. The building has doubled the college’s classroom and laboratory space for its health occupations programs.
The center was constructed to help address the acute shortage of health care
and emergency workers in IHCC’s 10-county area, allowing the college to increase
enrollment in its health occupations division. Indian Hills has partnered with 46
health care providers in the region in the Rural Health Partnership. There are partners in each of the 10 counties in the region.
Ann Aulwes-Allison, Dean of Health Occupations at IHCC, said one faculty
member told her, “This (building) is so much more efficient. We have everything
in one place.” Another faculty member told a recent visitor to the building, “I am
so proud to work here.”
A dedication ceremony and open house for the new Rural Health Education
Center will be held on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. during Indian Hills’
annual homecoming week activities.

Success in Bioprocess
Training Program
The Department of
Labor has recognized
the Iowa Bioprocess
Training
Center,
operated by Indian
Hills, as a National
Center of Excellence for
the Biotech Workforce
in agriculture, biofuels,
and food processing.
The $4 million Eddyville
facility was designed

industries in Iowa.
Eddyville center
The center houses the
college’s bioprocess technology and ethanol plant
technician programs and serves as a training facility
for biotechnology companies.
Through the program that is approaching its
seventh year, IHCC offers customized training,
technical assistance in association with a pilot facility,
and general offerings for a growing number of
companies. There are on average 20 students enrolled
in the program each year and 100% of the graduates
have received job offers after completing the course.
All of the Bioprocess Training graduates are employed
by Iowa companies and all but one of them live in
Iowa. The Eddyville facility is used not only by IHCC
students but also by area companies. The Bioprocess
facility trains nearly 300 Cargill employees each week.
Bioprocess instructors Eric Olson and Chuck Crabtree
have done a tremendous job in turning Iowa’s first
Bioprocess Training Center into a success for both
IHCC students as well as area companies.
Have you included the Indian Hills
Foundation in your will? If you have,
please let us know, so we can be sure to
honor your wishes.
THANK YOU!
IHCC Spells Success
In May a total of 614 IHCC graduates received their
diplomas--530 on the Ottumwa campus and 84 on the
Centerville campus. Even more impressive than the
number of IHCC graduates is the IHCC graduation
rate. Indian Hills boasts the highest graduation rate of
full time students among Iowa Community Colleges.

’77 Alum Wins $100 Savings Bond
Kevin Delimat, ’77 (AA), is the winner of a $100 savings bond that was the prize of the 2007
IHCC alumni enrollment drive. His name was drawn on May 31 from nearly 100 enrollment
forms that were submitted between February and May.
Kevin, who is a certified mortgage planner and vice president for Waterston Mortgage, was
shocked when he was informed he was the winner. He noted, “My Indian Hills experience
helped me because the campus was not too big…I didn’t feel lost or abandoned. The people in
Centerville were very friendly, especially those in the greenhouse.”
Kevin Delimat
Kevin was a member of the Falcon baseball team from 1975-1977 before transferring on to
New Mexico State. He currently resides in Waterford, Wisconsin, and would like to reconnect with any of his old
teammates. His website is http://www.kevindelimat.com.
The IHCC Alumni Association gives special thanks to Iowa Trust and Savings Bank of Centerville for donating
the $100 savings bond.
Employment Opportunities on the IHCC Website
Whether you are actively seeking employment or just browsing for your dream job, the IHCC website may be
the place for you to look. Using the IHCC homepage (http://www.indianhills.edu) point to the Alumni and Friends
heading, click on the job listings, and then select either “At IHCC” or “With Other Employers.”
By clicking on the “At IHCC” link, you will find all current openings at IHCC on both the Ottumwa and
Centerville campuses. By clicking on the “With Other Employers” link, you will find job opportunities related to
IHCC programs.
We hope you find these links valuable and let us know if they have helped you find a new job!
Baseball Banquet Raises More Than $9,000
Phil Janssen, ’76 (AA), a former Indian Hills
Falcon baseball player, was the guest speaker at the
annual IHCC baseball banquet at the Manhattan
Family Steak House in Centerville on February 1,
2007. Janssen is the administrator of the World
Umpires Association, which is the union for major
league umpires.
Janssen talked about his days as a player at IHCC
under legendary coach Pat Daugherty. He spoke to
the Falcon team members earlier in the afternoon and
gave the players a look into the world of umpiring and
major league baseball that they don’t experience every
day.
In addition to giving the community an opportunity
to meet the 45 members of the 2007 IHCC baseball
team, the event raised more than $9,000 for the Falcon
program.
Former Falcon baseball player Phil Janssen speaks
about his time with professional baseball during the
annual baseball banquet.
