MISSION STATEMENT
St. James Parish strives to be aware of the unique nature of our
Roman Catholic tradition and our call to be a Christ-centered
community. As baptized members of this faith community in a diverse
Christian environment, we strive to promote the kingdom of God on
earth. We achieve this through the scriptures and by celebration of
the Eucharist which draws us into a deeper personal relationship with
Christ. Through this relationship with Christ we share our faith with all
the people of God. We strive through Catholic education, the Family
Formation Program, evangelization, and good stewardship to mirror
Gospel values as we reach out to serve the larger community.
MEMBERSHIP: We welcome new members. If you are a
Catholic living in this area and are not registered as a
parishioner, please call the Parish Office and we will be
happy to include you on our roster. Also we ask that
parishioners notify us of any change of address.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM: The Sacrament will be
administered on Sundays upon request except during
Lent. It is necessary that parents attend a Baptism
Preparation Program for parents and sponsors before a
child’s baptism. Please call the Parish Office for further
information and to register for the class.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE: Couples planning
marriage should contact Fr. Euker at least one year prior
to the marriage. Couples are expected to fulfill all premarriage requirements. Wedding time is at 1:30 p.m. on
Saturday. Those who are married civilly and wish to
sacramentalize their union, please contact Fr. Euker. For
those celebrating a wedding anniversary who wish to
renew their vows, please contact Fr. Euker well in
advance of the desired date. Registered parishioners will
take precedence for wedding dates.

Our offertory rallied over Christmas . As of the end of the
calendar year, Sunday, & Holy Day offertory was $135,807.25,
only $3,192.75 short of our budget. Early January offerings
were strong with New Year’s and special one time offertory
gifts which will certainly help, especially if our giving keeps
pace. We are able to place $5,000 in our reserve account to
replenish the $7,000 we withdrew when our cash flow was
down. Many thanks for you regular sacrifices!
Next Sunday’s Second Collection will be for the Church in
Central & Eastern Europe. This Collection supports Catholic
organizations that provide affordable shelter and training for
seminarians in regions that still struggle with the effects of
Soviet rule. By providing pastoral care, catechesis, and funding
for building renovations, your donations help to restore the
Church and build the future in the region.
FAITH FORMATION
There will be Faith Formation on

attribute of Jesus we receive through the sacrament,
which fully binds us to our faith along with time for
prayer and reflection through song. Our time together will end with exposition and a deeply moving,
guided Eucharistic Adoration. More information
about Greg and our ministry can be found at

Our Seventh and eighth windows on the right side
facing the Altar relate directly to Mary. The 7th
window depicts her glorious Assumption into
heaven. After serving God faithfully her entire life,
and enduring seven great sorrows, her life peacefully
comes to an end here on earth. However, Mary,
whom God by His gracious design did not allow any
taint of sin to touch her, is taken body and soul into
heaven. The window portrays two heavenly angels
facing a stream that runs from earth to the heavens.
We can view just below the clouds above, the lower
portion of Mary where her feet are shown before she
leaves the earth. The caption simply reads “taken
into heaven.”
This event is proclaimed by Pope Pius the XII as
dogma in his message”Munificentissimus Deus” on
November 1st, 1950. It is celebrated as a Holy Day
of Obligation on August 15th each year. Mary, from
her exalted place in heaven continues to intercede for
the pilgrim people of God on their journey to
heavenly bliss.
