Marjorie Chau stammt aus Chile und lebt seit 2002 in Berlin. Sie choreografiert mit
selbstkreierten Kostümen Performances, Musik- & Videoinstallationen, die sie in
mythischen Geschichten inszeniert. In ihren Installationen tauchen universelle
Themen auf, die überdimensionale Traumwelten erschaffen. Ihre Arbeiten sind
von stofflichen Gegebenheiten geprägt. Die textilen Verarbeitungsmethoden und
modernen Materialien werden von ihr weiterentwickelt und neu interpretiert. Sie
arbeitet in den Bereichen Installation, Performance, Kostümdesign, Choreografie
und Regie. Vor 1.000.000 Zuschauern gewannen ihre Inszenierungen 2008 und
2010 den 1. und den 2. Preis beim Karneval der Kulturen in Berlin. Sie zeigte Ihre
Werke auf der Luminale 2016, einer der größten Lichtbiennalen der Welt. CALEUCHE ist eine interaktive Installation, basierend auf dem gleichnamigen Mythos
der Insel "Chiloe" aus Chile. CALEUCHE ist ein Schiff, das in dunklen Nächten unvorhergesehen auftaucht und genauso wieder plötzlich verschwindet.

Marjorie Chau comes from Chile and lives since 2002 in Berlin. She choreographs
with self-made costumes performances, music and video installations which she
staged in mythical stories. In her installations emerge universal themes which
create colossal dream worlds. Her work is characterized by material circumstances. The textile processing methods and modern materials are developed
and reinterpreted. She works in the fields of installation, performance, costume
design, choreography and directing. In front of 1,000,000 spectators her presentations won in 2008 and 2010 the 1st and 2nd prize at "Carnival of Cultures"
in Berlin. She showed her works at the Luminale 2016, one of the largest light
biennials of the world. CALEUCHE is an interactive installation based on the same
myth of the island "Chiloe" from Chile. CALEUCHE is a ship that unexpectedly
turns up in dark nights and in the same manner suddenly disappears.
