1921, The beginning of the Golden Twenties. Not far from Paris.
It is party day at Marguerite Dumont’s castle. Like every year, an array of music lovers gathers around
a great cause at the owner’s place. Nobody knows much about this woman except that she is rich
and that her whole life is devoted to her passion: music. Marguerite sings. She sings wholeheartedly,
but she sings terribly out of tune. In ways quite similar to the Castafiore, Marguerite has been living
her passion in her own bubble, and the hypocrite audience, always coming in for a good laugh, acts
as if she was the diva she believes she is.
When a young, provocative journalist decides to write a rave article on her latest performance,
Marguerite starts to believe even further in her talent. This gives her the courage she needs to follow
her dream. Despite her husband’s reluctance, and with the help of a has-been divo, both funny and
mean, she decides to train for her first recital in front of a crowd of complete strangers.
Loosely inspired by the life of Florence Foster Jenkins

is forced to kill a man in self-defense. He then meets Ben Russel, a rough ex-con and the father
of the man Dane shot, who is hell-bent on avenging his son’s death. But small town corruption
and paranoia turn these bitter ennemies into unlikely allies, as the two guilt-stricken fathers begin
a search for truth, aided by Dane’s tough minded wife and a pig-raising detective from the backwoods of Houston. Before it’s all over, they uncover a bigger secret, darker and more dangerous
than any of them could have imagined.

A film by Alvaro Brechner
By the director of Bad Day to Go Fishing (Cannes Critics’ Week 2009)
Jacob Kaplan lives an ordinary life in Uruguay. Like many of his other Jewish friends, Jacob
fled Europe for South America because of World War II. But now turning 76, he’s become rather
grumpy, fed up with his community and his family’s lack of interest in its own heritage.
One beach bar may, however, provide him with an unexpected opportunity to achieve greatness
and recover his family’s respect in the community: its owner, a quiet, elderly German, raises
Mr.Kaplan suspicion of being a runaway nazi.
Ignoring his family’s concerns about his health, Jacob secretly recruits Contreras, a more loyal
than honest former police officer, to help him investigate. Together, they will try to repeat the
historic capture of Adolf Eichmann: by unmasking and kidnapping the German and secretly taking him to Israel.
