The transport authorities of Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark are well aware that innovative, world-class railways serving both the freight and passenger markets are the key to swift and sustainable economic growth. You will be aware that the Swedish government’s 10-year infrastructure spending plan is worth around £50 billion. Investments will be made in brand new infrastructure as well as much needed maintenance. With Sweden introducing its first high-speed railway – the largest infrastructure project conducted in Sweden in a generation – these are times of major significance for the rail sector, with a high level of expertise to be employed in order to overcome the huge challenges that these projects will present. Denmark’s Train Fund - worth £2.6 billion over the next ten years - and being invested in the country’s rail infrastructure in order to improve public transport, is the largest fund in Danish history. There is currently a very strong level of cross-political support for the Norwegian Transport Plan which allocates a huge £13 billion to railways. £7 billion is earmarked for infrastructure investments and £5.8 billion for operation and maintenance. Returning to Stockholm after two years in Oslo, the 2016 Scandinavian Rail Development conference will bring together the infrastructure managers, passenger and freight operators, train manufacturers and innovators, to present and discuss investment plans for the region’s rail networks. The networking and exhibition area offers you the opportunity to assess the very latest rail innovations and facilitates significant opportunities to network with the leading figures in Nordic Rail. These are unprecedented times for the region’s rail network and this year’s conference once again provides an unmissable opportunity for all rail professionals with an interest in the Scandinavian rail sector. I am delighted to welcome you to join us in Stockholm on Tuesday 24th May 2016 for what already looks set to be a superb rail sector conference. Yours faithfully, Sarah Gooding Content Director - Scandinavian Rail Development 2016 E: [email protected] T: +44 (0) 1959 563 311 EASY WAYS TO BOOK: www.scandinavianraildevelopment.com [email protected] +44 (0)1959 563 311 TUESDAY 24TH MAY 2016 08:00 Registration & Coffee 08:30 Chairman’s Opening Address Simon Fletcher Co ordinator – Europe International Union of Railways - UIC Creating Norway’s Railway of a Generation: The Vision, The Projects – and the Investment Opportunities Michael Bors Director, Supplier and Market Development Jernbaneverket 11:30 Strategy, Planning and Funding of the Railways and Region’s Core Rail Networks 08:35 Host’s Welcome Address Tommy Jonsson Deputy Executive Director of Planning Trafikverket 08:40 How to Become a Supplier to The Swedish Transport Administration Camilla Ahston Senior International Strategist Trafikverket 12:00 Developing High-Speed Rail: Azvi, Our Experience in Spain Manuel Borras Abos Business Development Manager for Europe, Middle East and Asia AZVI 12:15 Some Lessons from HSR Development in Great Britain Prof. Andrew McNaughton Technical Director High-Speed Two (HS2) 12:30 A Holistic Approach to the Rail Sector Ulf Larsson Business Advisor Rail and Project Director Depots WSP Sweden Niklas Sörensen Business Area Manager WSP Sweden 09:25 Denmark: The Railway of the Future Jan Schneider-Tilli Programme Director – Signalling Banedanmark 12:45 Increasing the Performance of New Rolling Stock Richard Knowles Sales Director Western Europe-Rail IMI Precision Engineering 09:50 13:00 Infrastructure Developments and Signalling & Telecommunications Panel Discussion Panellists: 09:10 Safety Through Innovation Alejandro Moreno Managing Director - Scandinavia Colas Rail Scandinavia to Germany via the Fehmarn Belt Tunnel 2027 Henrik Sylvan Head of RailTech Centre Technical University of Denmark Dr Ing. It will offer clear guidance and signposts to help understanding of cyber security issues. The media, through their coverage of high-profile attacks, and attention from all levels of government has made cybersecurity a familiar term. This has caused many transport professionals to take notice, but made it hard for them to act. They are advised to assess their risk, but many do not know how.
