ESG seminar and leadership training
16-19. 09. 2010 Geoagiu, Romania
The Leadership Training course is open
for young scouts and jungschars aged from
16 to 20 years old. LT includes an
overnight hike and lots of other activities
together with making new YMCA friends.
The Seminar is for young people older
than 20 years of age. Traditionally the
seminar program includes sharing
experiences on scouting and jungschar
work in different countries. Also the annual
meeting of ESG takes place during the
seminar.

Participation fees: 135 euros
The fee includes transportation from Cluj
Airport to our camping site in Geoagiu and
back, food and accommodational at the
camping site and a day trip.

IKE-YMCA Transylvania, the host
organization of ESG leadership training
seminar is the Hungarian speaking YMCA
movement working with ethnic hungarians in
the Transylvanian region of Romania.
The Centre is run by IKE and is situated in
the heart of Transylvania on a 2 hectare
area full of rich natural beauty and
historical value. Within the grounds of the
Centre you can find Transylvania's first
rotunda chapel dated from the 11th
century and also a reformed church
building and the old manse which is the
main accommodation block.

The Seminar and Leadership Training are
great opportunities for young and older
participants to get connected with other
YMCA scouts and jungshars from all over
Europe. New friends are guaranteed!
During the program you have the
opportunity to go on a sightseeing trip to
see some of the beauties of Transylvanian
. We highly recommend spending some
extra nights to see even more of
Transylvania’s natural beauty, its rich
medieval cultural heritage and experience
the hospitality of the local people.

Part of the program is a trip to Sibiu, the
Cultural Capital of Europe in 2007, and
also going up by cable car to the one of the
peaks in the surrounding Fogaras
mountains. Lunch on route is also included
in the participation fee.

One of our key mottos is Unity in Diversity.
Our programs range from bible studies to
sports competitions, from cultural lectures to
work with drug prevention among young
people, language clubs and evangelism, all
our activities stem from our core value, to 'go
and make disciples for Jesus'.
Each local IKE group can have different
styles and their work is often determined by
its relationship to the local Church. Young
people living in different regions have
different needs and because of this our
ministry and help from IKE is varied and
complex. Most of our programs are aimed
at young people aged 14 – 25, however we
also have ministry to children at risk and
have an IKE senior group supporting the
ministries of IKE.
Only recently IKE Transylvania in
partnership with
Federation YMCA
Romania have gained full member of YMCA
Europe. We have various partnerships with
YMCA’s in Europe.
The youth centre is only 6 kilometres from a
nearby tourist holiday resort with hot natural
springs and 35 km away from the youth
centre you can visit two medieval castles. This
makes it an ideal place for camps,
conferences, church and mission group
retreats with its own outdoor sports facilities.
The Centre can provide comfortable
accommodation for a total of 65 people.
