COUNSELOR’S CORNER
“How can I help my child with school?”
Families that provide a loving, stable and
caring relationship and environment are
helping their children at school. Parents who
talk with their children, hold engaging
conversations and ask them questions about
their school day are helping their children.
Providing opportunities for ample physical
activity and nutritious meals helps children.
And, parents who read, sing, play games and
go places with their children helps them in
school. So … read a book with your child and
then take a walk and talk about it. Play a card
or board game and talk about your day with
your child. Go to the park and play on the
swings or throw a Frisbee with your child.
Take a nature hike and enjoy the fall leaves and
crisp air with your kids. These are the things
that will help your child develop socially,
emotionally and cognitively. It’s fun and free!!

FROM THE NURSE
Students at Orchard Park walked or biked to school on Wednesday, October 9th, 2013. They learned how to be
safe walking/biking to school and also joined over 3,000 students from all over the world who walked or biked to
school on that day. All students received safety handouts and pedometers. We would like to thank our parents
and our PTO for helping make this event a success. Remember, safe Walking and Biking is COOL at ORCHARD
PARK SCHOOL!
