Rupert Douglas-Jones IPAF – International Training Manager UK LEGISLATION 1998 Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (L22) Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (L113) THOROUGH EXAMINATION Employers / Owners must ensure that lifting equipment for lifting persons is thoroughly examined: • At least every 6 months (periodic approach) or • In accordance with an “Examination Scheme” or plan and • Following the occurrence of exceptional circumstances that may jeopardise the safety of the equipment • Following a major repair or modification • Following installation at a new site and before being put into service WAHR • WAHR retain the same duty with specific reference to LOLER. • They also extend the general requirement of inspection by a competent person to ALL equipment used for work at height.
