WINES FROM THE HEART OF WINES WINESFROM FROMTHE THEHEART HEARTOF OF SOMONTANO SOMONTANO SOMONTANO SOMONTANO Somontano means “at the foot of the mountain” and perfectly defines the geographic area where it sits this designation of origin, since it is a transition zone between the Ebro River valley and Pyrenees. CLIMATE & SOIL Containing sandstone and clay soil and limestone and alluvial material. It has low fertility and good drainage. The altitude ranges between 350 meters and 650 meters away. The climate, continental, is softened by involving the Pyrenees coat against the cold north winds. Yet there are frequent frosts in winter and summer extremes temperatures. The temperature differences between d ay a n d n i g ht a r e a l s o v e r y pronounced. The average rainfall is 500 mm. Night harvest, when the grapes express maximum freshness in flavors and aromas, in the peak of ripeness, cabernet sauvignon, merlot, tempranillo, syrah, gar nacha, mo r is tel, char do nnay, gewurztraminer, sauvignon blanc... with the purpose of controlling the production and ensure a good quality of the fruit they work through the prunning as crop, treatments, and green prunning among others. “Heir to a tradition of generations of winemakers and after a lifetime devoted to the world of wine in the Somontano I've been fortunate to be able to start this project with the hope of returning to the wine all that wine has given me. After several generations dedicated to growing grapes on this land and looking for the most appropriate plots for each of the main varieties of Somontano, our vineyard of 115 hectares inks Syrah, CabernetSauuvignon , Merlot, Tempranillo, Garnacha, Parraleta and Moristel addition to the white Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer. In 2006 Beroz performed the first wine with a selection of his best and oldest vineyards of red grapes, used entirely to wines aged in new French oak forests of Allier and Nevers. DE BEROZ ROBLE 2012 WINEMAKING: Elaborated from grapes picked at night from the younger vines and only when they are totally matured, situated in the areas of Salas Altas y Barbastro, fermented during 14 days at temperature control vats between 20 and 22 º Centigrade, to preserve all the fruit, gravity decanted into lower vats with no skins and after a short maturation of six months in French and American oak barrels, and further six months in bottle, the wine is commercialized, with all the roundness and complexity that the barrel bottle aging offers. TASTING NOTES COLOUR: clean bright and intense ruby red with some blue hints AROMA: red mature fruits, well integrated with oak smoke characters PALATE: fresh, fruity & intense with plenty of life and smoothes finish that lingers on. Ideal with: red meat, baked fish, and with any type of starters WINEMAKER: NICOLÁS BRUN 81.000 bottles VARIETALS: 50% Cabernet, 40% Merlot ALCOHOL: 14% DE BEROZ CRIANZA ESPECIAL 2008 WINEMAKING: The 3 grape varieties are harvested separately at night and in its excellent moment they ferment also separately trying to find the best way to take the most brilliant characteristics of each of them. After an aging in separate oak French Allier and Nevers barrels with different toasting types, we continue with the assemblage in order to get this magnificent “crianza”. TASTING NOTES COLOUR: dark red, very bright and with some cherry hints than make us think of a young wine. AROMA: We are surprised by its intensity, it is a franc wine with aromas to red fruits and we also find spicy notes at the end. It is an attractive, elegant wine. PALATE: it is characterized by its freshness and intensity, something not very common in “crianza” wines. It is silky in the mouth, and it has got a long aftertaste that lingers on. BEST WITH : Meat, roast meals, vegetable or chickpea stews. WINEMAKER: NICOLÁS BRUN 42.000 bottles VARIETALS: 50% Cabernet 30% Merlot 20% Syrah ALCOHOL: 14% DE BEROZ RESERVA DE FAMILIA 2007 WINEMAKING: Exclusively form the unrrigated vineyards from the family, in the area of Salas Altas y Salas Bajas. The best plots of each variety are selected, with a perfect health status and lower production. They are developed separatly fermenting for at least 20 days at temperatures between 25 and 26 degress to remove all the color and all the tannins but preserving the maximun ripe of fruit. After a long aging for 18 months in new French oak barrels of various woods and toasts, the blend is made final later during aging in bottle for 18 months to get the perfect assembly of the aromas and flavors of the grapes and the stay at the barrel. TASTING NOTES COLOUR: striking color intensity, well covered with an attractive tone cherry with some thin layer of its long aging process. AROMA: an intense aroma of ripe fruit, spicy red with nuances that bring Exciting stay in barrel, maintaining nevertheless some sense of youth. PALATE: it shows surprisingly fresh, very intense and flavorful, dense and persistent with a sweet and pleasant tannin. 15.000 bottles WINEMAKER: NICOLÁS BRUN VARIETALS: 70% Cabernet 10%, Merlot 10% Syrah 10% Tempranillo ALCOHOL: 14% DE BEROZ LAR DE BEROZ 2007 WINEMAKING: The oldest vineyards are subjects of short cut in winter in order to obtain very low vines. The grape harvest asks for stringency to be done at the ideal moment and come into the wine cellars in a perfect estate. Before to begin of the 20% rape fermentation, the grapes are separated to increase the concentration and the tannins. After a 20- day fermentation at 25-26 degrees, the wines mature in first use barrels during 20 months. Eventually, we proceed to the blend, our privileged method to compose our best wine. TASTING NOTES COLOUR: Great intensity for a garnet-red wine giving the sensation of brightness and shine. Tint of a nice, generous and elegant cherry- red. AROMA: Home of Beroz offers all the flavours expected by the bouquet with fruit notes and a lengthy finish. PALATE: This is an explosion of red fruits blended with fruits of the forest, with an infinity of shades peculiar to maturation in barrels : milk, vanilla and butter notes.
