// TRANSPORTATION IN PARIS
With one ticket, you can complete any subway
ride within Paris or its suburbs (Paris urban area),
changing line several times if necessary.
You can also take : RER (within the Paris urban
area), bus and tram (one trip without changes).
THE RER (RÉSEAU EXPRESS RÉGIONAL)
THE RER IS A RAPID RAIL NETWORK LINKING
PARIS TO ITS SUBURBS. LINES INTERSECT THE
CENTRE OF PARIS, STOPPING SEVERAL TIMES.
[ How do I take the RER ? ]
There are 5 RER lines. Each line is represented
by a letter : A, B, C, D et E. To use the RER, you
should check: the line (for example A), the direction (Marne-la- Vallée-Chessy ou Torcy) and the
station (Noisy-Champs).
REMEMBER, BEFORE GETTING ON BOARD TO
CHECK THE LIGHTED PANELS ON THE PLATFORM TO SEE IF YOUR STATION IS LISTED.
In the Paris region, two companies [ How do I buy an RER ticket? ]
manage most of the public transport: RATP (present in Paris and RER Train tickets can be purchased in metro staits suburbs) and SNCF (present tions or RER stations. When you leave the Paris
area, you must specify your precise destination :
throughout France).
e.g.: «I would like a ticket to Saint-Michel*/Noisy[ The metro ]
Interactive Map of Paris Metro :
http://www.ratp.fr/plan-interactif/
[ How do I take the metro ? ]
On a map you must look at the line (e.g., line 12),
the direction (e.g. Mairie d’Issy) and the station
(e.g. Porte de Versailles).
[ How do I buy a metro ticket ? ]
Champs or I would like a ticket to Nation*/Noisy-leGrand»
* These are metro/RER stations in Paris.
[ Flat rate deals ]
If you use public transport regularly, we recommend you select a flat rate deal for a week, month
(Navigo) or year (Intégrale).
Rates vary depending on the number of areas covered, from 2 (centre of Paris) to 6 (furthest suburb).
You will find metro tickets at the station counter
or the ticket machines.
N.B.: a book of 10 tickets is cheaper than buying single tickets.
