Communication Science.
The School of Science of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” is located in a
building which houses four academic departments: Biology, Chemistry, Physics,
Chemistry, Mathematics.
On the ground floor and first floor professors’ rooms and labs are located. The
second floor houses the classrooms, the scientific library, the Administrative Office
for Students, Students’ Service office, Offices of the Dean and Erasmus Students
Office.
The Faculty has a range of study facilities supported. These include:

•
15 Didactic and Multimedia Laboratories.
•
a 300 sits Auditorioum (Aula Gismondi);
•
115 Laboratories dedicated to research and graduate studies;
Finally, the building of the School of Science is located in Via della Ricerca
Scientifica, 1.
Academic Calendar
The academic year is divided, for the different Degree Courses, in modules made of
lessons and/or laboratory practical work, at the end of which exam tests are held.
The courses that Erasmus students take are the same as those taken by Italian students
studying for their degree.
Lessons usually start on the first week of October and are divided into trimesters or
semesters.
Exams are held in three sessions: Autumn (September), Winter (February), Summer
(June-July).
A student prospectus, with a list of the Courses and the programmes is issued at the
beginning of the academic year.
Classes are interrupted during Christmas time (from 20 December to 10 January) and in
August.

Examination Period
Course examinations usually consist of an oral discussion, which may
be
completed by other tests in written form.
Exams are held in three sessions: Winter (in February, for semester courses
held during the first semester), Summer (mid-June to mid-July) and Autumn
(mid-September to mid October). Exact dates will be displayed on the boards
on the walls of the deanery.
CFU credits represent a value allocated to modules to describe the student
workload required to complete them, and are different from the marks a
student gets in the examinations. The minimum mark required to pass an
exam is 18/30; the board of the examiners may unanimously decide to give
the maximum mark (30/30) cum laude.
