CGM Group provides expert tree care services to its clients
throughout East Anglia utilising qualified, competent and
proficient staff at all our depots to ensure a prompt and
professional response at all times.
As an Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor we
are regularly audited to ensure compliance with the scheme
standards so our customers can be sure they are receiving
competent advice and the high quality service they deserve.
Working to the British Standard 3998:2010 –
Recommendations for tree works our operatives carry out
the most exacting of pruning operations including crown
reduction, crown thinning, crown lifting, deadwood removal,
pollarding programs and street tree pruning.
Specialist services provided include veteran tree management,
veteranisation of trees to introduce decay and habitat, root
zone investigation works and soil decompaction to improve
the rooting area.
Our fully trained operatives can facilitate the removal of trees
in all locations using a variety of equipment, machinery and
techniques including straight felling, sectioned dismantling
in confined spaces and use of specialist plant such as mobile
elevated work platforms and mobile cranes.
Following removal of trees we can remove stumps and roots
using one of our high powered stump grinding machines to
allow for replacement planting or reinstatement.
We can provide full traffic management plans and services
for works adjacent to, or affecting, the road network and we
also hold National Highways Sector Scheme 18 accreditation
to allow us to work on main trunk roads for the Highways
Agency.

We also provide a 24/7 emergency response service for our
clients attending to fallen or storm damaged trees to make
them safe or remove them completely.
We aim to reduce 100% of our arboricultural arisings. Our
woodchip is taken to local biomass power stations and is also
used as mulch on shrub beds. The timber is processed into
firewood logs or installed as natural play obstacles.

Trees in the urban and rural environments present many
different challenges for tree owners and at CGM Group we
offer independent and impartial advice to our clients on a
variety of arboricultural and planning issues.
Tree Health and Risk Management
Understanding and managing the health of trees is vital to
maintaining a viable and healthy tree stock and our qualified
consultants ensure they maintain their knowledge and
understanding of tree health issues, including new pests and
diseases, through a structured development plan.
From a basic ground level inspection through to a full tree
survey and plotting tree locations on OS maps and tree
management plans our consultants can tailor our packages to

Following identification of tree pests, wood decay fungi
and tree health conditions we can suggest appropriate

Planning and Development
Our qualified and competent consultants carry out tree
surveys to BS 5837:2012 to inform and assist planning
applications for development. This includes preparation
of Tree Constraints Plans, Tree Protection Plans and
Arboricultural Method Statement to select trees worthy
of retention and ensure they are adequately protected
throughout the development.
Using air spades and working with our operational teams
our consultants can carry out root zone investigation to
identify and where necessary prune back roots or allow for
safe installation of services without damaging tree roots
(our air spade can also be used to carry out decay analysis of
structural roots).

standards our clients expect. We have committed to investing
in the latest plant and equipment to deliver a quality service
within our client’s budget requirements. From carrying
out regular grass cutting through to a full site maintenance
specification we can cater our maintenance programmes to
our customers service needs.
In order to give our customers peace of mind our staff are
DBS checked prior to being permitted to work on any school,
housing association or other site where safeguarding is an
issue. All team members are fully trained to RHS, NVQ, NPTC,
LANTRA, BAGMA or ROLO standards as applicable for the
work they are required to carry out.
We understand the importance of a well maintained
landscape and how this is often the first thing that visitors
come into contact with when attending a site and how it can
affect the impression they are given.
We are committed to working in partnership with all our
clients, large or small, to achieve their goals. As part of this
commitment to our customers, we have invested in the latest
live site reporting technology. Our maintenance teams are
issued with mobile devices that receive work instructions
electronically. Teams are required to complete individual job
tickets for each site they are working on and provide photos
of completed works that can be supplied to the client.
We advocate monthly or quarterly progress meetings
to ensure that our clients are regularly updated on the

In 2014 CGM Group was awarded a prestigious national
landscape award for grounds maintenance at Thetford Town
Council’s Kings House Gardens. The British Association of
Landscape Industries (BALI) accolade resulted from a rigorous
judging process with judges impressed by the high level of
grounds maintenance at the gardens, attention to detail,
introduction of new features and the allocation of a full-time
gardener, Adam Chown. The award follows previous success
in 2012 where CGM Group scooped two other awards.

A recent addition to the CGM Group suite of services,
our Facilities division has expanded since its inception
championing cutting edge equipment and techniques. Now
operating throughout East Anglia we provide a wide range of
services to our existing and new clients.
Gutter Vacuum
Our state-of-the-art gutter vacuum system can reach to a
height of 12 metres removing the additional expense and risk
of working at height equipment such as ladders, scaffolds and
cherry pickers. Utilising a high powered twin vacuum system
coupled with ultra lightweight carbon fibre poles we can
access those sometimes hard to reach areas over extensions
and obstacles.
Coupled with an HD camera mounted on the vacuum head
gutters can be cleaned safely and effectively ensuring all build
up is removed.
We can also offer an external clean of the guttering and
fascias using our ‘Pure Water’ pole cleaning system.
Pure water window cleaning
Our Pure Water cleaning system works through reverse
osmosis drawing chemicals, minerals and dirt away from the
surface without the need to use detergents and chemicals,
so as well as being fast and effective our cleaning system is
also environmentally friendly. As it is a pole system it provides
a high reach solution so even fourth floor windows can be
reached without the need for additional equipment.
Carpet cleaning
Modern, deep pile carpets absorb all manner of dirt and
debris so a professional clean needs a professional standard,

high volume system and once again the CGM Group has
invested in top of the line equipment. With its powered
vacuum and cleaning agents carpets can be revived and even

A weed can be defined as a plant in the wrong place, and
whilst weeds can usually be dealt with through general
herbicide application or regular hand weeding, invasive plants
present a more considerable challenge. This can be due to

the location they are found in (many invasive species grow in

Operating throughout East Anglia the CGM Group has gained
experience working in a range of rural environments and
our current client base offers a diversity of work that other
contractors would struggle to emulate.
With the east of England being subjected to drainage for
agricultural and residential development the requirement to
maintain waterways is a high priority, and CGM Group has
been involved with vegetation and in channel management
for a number of years, leading to the purchase of specialised
machinery and plant.
From our Agricultural tractors with flail attachments through
to low ground pressure Reform mowers and robot controlled
flail mowers our fleet of plant can carry out vegetation
management on steep banks and remote areas.
Control of in-channel weed and vegetation growth can also
be completed by our operators carrying the appropriate
qualifications and using weed cutting boats by our RYA
trained operators.
Our specialist vegetation management fleet is also used
extensively in highway verge maintenance ensuring growth
is kept clear of the highway, verges, culverts and street
furniture along with winter hedge flailing to ensure rural
hedges are maintained.
Wherever required we can supply full traffic management
to facilitate works on or adjacent to the highway and liaise

Equestrian Services
Whether CGM Group’s clients have one hunter, a couple of
riding horses or a string of polo ponies, they all know how
important it is to properly maintain their paddocks, stabling,
fencing and under-hoof material. CGM Group have extensive
experience in using its wealth of horticultural and agricultural
knowledge to make sure equestrian facilities – large or
small, private or commercial – are maintained to the highest
possible standard.
Horses and ponies are hardy but poorly maintained shelter,
stabling or grazing areas, or getting injured on damaged
fencing, is not only harmful for the animal but also expensive
to put right for the owner. CGM Group makes sure that
every equine establishment is as hazard free as possible for
rider and mount by constructing everything needed in horse
management, from simple field shelters to enclosed exercise
arenas. The CGM Group hard landscaping team have the skills
and experience to assist owners to develop projects which
promote good animal and land husbandry; a vital part of
being a responsible equestrian.
Clients across East Anglia have engaged CGM Group for
highly diverse projects. For example, the transformation of an
existing equestrian facility to developing land for horses from
scratch. With the in-house knowledge and capital equipment
needed for any development project so readily available, CGM
clients enjoy a rare opportunity to have their requirements

Fuelwood Services
CGM Group provides many solutions to recycle and reuse
timber from our forestry and arboricultural operations as well
as processing client timber stocks.
Our fleet of wheeled and tracked woodchippers process
branches from felled or pruned trees into woodchip arisings.
This is then taken to green recycling stations throughout East
Anglia or stockpiled at our main depot location before being
transported in bulk to local biomass fuelled power stations.
Our stockpile of woodchip mulch is also used by our Grounds
Maintenance and Soft Landscaping teams when installing and
maintaining new and existing shrub beds.
Our Heizohack HM14-800 Biomass Woodchipper is supplied
and operated by our competent and experienced operatives
processing our own timber trunks from site clearance and
forestry operations into woodchip. This machine can also be
supplied to process customer supplied timber to produce
a G30 or G50 size woodchip for biomass boilers. This
impressive machine can process timber with a diameter up to
600mm and produce up to 40m³ of woodchip per hour.
The CGM Group also processes seasoned firewood logs which
can be purchased and delivered via our sister company, the
Downham Home and Garden Store and from our existing
stock of timber we can also provide trunks for play equipment
and landscaping projects.
All green waste from our operations throughout East Anglia
is composted at our depots into a soil improver ensuring that
we recycle or reuse nearly all arisings from our operations.

Skip Lorry Services
CGM Group operate a roll-on skip lorry with a Hiab capability.
This allows us not only to provide roll-on containers for all
types of waste but also to load material. CGM Group are a
registered waste carrier and provide transfer notes for all
loads.
With the Hiab attachment the vehicle has the ability to collect
loose items at the roadside; anything from tree trunks to
aggregates.
In conjunction with the Downham Home & Garden Store
we can supply and deliver aggregates, soil, large garden
furniture, slabs and posts. Deliveries can be as small as 1m3
bags to 10 tonne loads within a 40 mile radius of Downham
Market.
Our flat roll-on skip allows us to transport small vehicles and
machinery where the Hiab can assist loading and unloading in
the event of vehicle breakdowns.
