I would like to thank the organizers and many volunteers who ensure that this festival continues to celebrate and promote Celtic culture and enrich the lives of Canadians of all backgrounds. As Premier of the Province of British Columbia, I am pleased to welcome everyone to the 12th annual CelticFest and St. Patrick’s Day Parade, here in Vancouver. On behalf of my colleagues on Vancouver City Council and the citizens of Vancouver, I want to extend my sincere best wishes for a successful 2016 CelticFest Vancouver. Enjoy the festival! The Honourable Mélanie Joly CeticFest has become a favourite for many in Vancouver and allows us to experience a variety of cultures. It is a wonderful opportunity for local and international artists and audiences to participate in artistic expression ranging from music and dance to workshops and a parade. The festival is a perfect blend of art and culture that showcases the multiculturalism we are proud of in our city. This year’s CelticFest promises to be an exciting and entertaining event as local and international members of the Celtic community gather to highlight their culture through an incredible line-up of performances and presentations. British Columbia is fortunate to be a diverse and welcoming province, where we can share in the art and traditions of different cultures. This festival will be a wonderful mix of invigorating music, dancing, presentations and excellent food in the good company of family and friends. Christy Clark, Premier Gregor Robertson, Mayor 4 As one of the festival’s founding sponsors, the Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association is proud to welcome CelticFest Vancouver for its 12th Anniversary. This festival, which attracts over 200,000 attendees annually, has firmly established a strong Celtic tradition that appeals to lovers of music, dance, performance, libations and crafts. CelticFest Vancouver is a non-profit society that is all about the Celtic community. We have so many partners and stakeholders who contribute to the success of the festival, that we realize that CelticFest Vancouver belongs to everyone. Our CelticFest management and staff, as well as the hundreds of volunteers, step up every year with great enthusiasm. We have partners from all levels of government who recognize that CelticFest brings cultural and economic benefits to Vancouver. Our corporate sponsors know that they too are partners in promoting our Celtic heritage. We are grateful for their continuing confidence and support in our work. CelticFest Vancouver is a wonderful way to celebrate the diversity, excitement and uniqueness of Vancouver. It is a wonderful event for families, of all ages, with many free events, including the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 13th. Best of all, most of the festival programming takes place in the heart of the city – downtown Vancouver. Our Board of Directors provides ongoing guidance and support. Our artists deliver magnificently every time! And you, the audience, are why we do this. Take a bow and enjoy! Enjoy all the festival has to offer. Peter Raptis, Chair Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association John Coughlan Executive Festival Producer The influence of the Celtic Culture on the world stage cannot be exaggerated.
