Criminal barrister, Cleaver Greene, has a
practice that somehow seems to be devoted
to the most hopeless of hopeless cases from cannibals to ‘dog lovers’. Even so, his
professional affairs are still less chaotic
than his personal ones. Cleaver is reckless,
brilliant, self-destructive, funny, iconoclastic
and bloody minded – a lawyer who is
driven to win the unwinnable and defend
the indefensible.
On any single day, Cleaver Greene is
described as many things. Whilst his ex-wife
may call him ‘unreliable’, his son will call him
‘a mate’. To his learned friends at
the bar table he is ‘a real wag’, to his jurors
he is ‘hilarious’, and to most judges he
is ‘an outrage’. To the Tax Office, he is
‘a defendant’; to a certain brothel owner
‘a legend’, and to his former cocaine dealer,
‘a tragic loss’.
The clients he loves the most - the cases that
thrill him - are those that appear to be utterly
hopeless. There’s something about being on
the wrong side of conventional wisdom that
feels right to him, be it at the bar table or the
dinner table.
He will do whatever it takes to defend and
save life’s truly lost souls. The big sinners.
Its drug lords. Its cannibals. Its bestialites.
And at the same time, he will struggle to save
himself, to stop himself falling back into the
abyss that has characterised most
of his self-destructive adult life thus far.
Despite his own hopelessness, his wit and
charm have won him hordes of companions
over the years. Most nights of the week, there
is no shortage of invitations: dinner with a
judge at the RMC (His Honour pays), or with
some drug dealers in Chinatown (Manos
pays), or with some of his copper mates at
the Matador (no one pays).
Any gaps in his diary will inevitably be filled
by either all night sessions in chambers
preparing for court or similarly lengthy
sessions at his favourite brothel, simply
referred to by those in the know as ‘the Club’
(here, Cleaver is more than happy to open his
own wallet).
He tends to wake up bruised. Physically.
Emotionally. Spiritually. Usually it’s a
combination thereof.
He spends a nano-second wondering how
his life came to this - living in a studio above
a café in the Cross, without his wife and
son, in love with a prostitute, defending
hopeless cases. Then he gets up, puts on his
dressing gown and a pair of brogues and goes
downstairs for a coffee. Then it’s out into the
world - onto the battleground that is Cleaver
Greene’s day.

Just William
4 x 30’
JUST WILLIAM is a brand new live
action drama adaptation by Simon Nye
based on Richmal Crompton’s timeless
comedy classic.
There is only one boy whose irrepressible
incorrigibility has delighted children and
adults for nearly a century; only one boy
who can prick adult pomposity with such
satisfying regularity. He reminds us of a time
when the country really was the country
– a time when children were as free as birds
with nothing to feed on but their imaginations
– a time when they could leave the house at
breakfast and not come home until teatime.
His enduring appeal is as fresh today as
it has ever been – which is perhaps why he
is still making so many of us laugh today
– he’s Just William.
Just William follows the exploits of 11 year
old tearaway William Brown and his band of
adventurous “outlaws”. Daniel Roche plays
the lead role of William. Daniel has won
acclaim from critics and viewers for his role
as lying, stubborn and hyperactive child Ben
in the hit BBC One sitcom “Outnumbered”.
Bafta winner Rebecca Front (“The Thick
of It”, “Lewis”), and Daniel Ryan (“The
Street”,“Survivors”) play the role of William’s
parents along with Caroline Quentin (“Life of
Riley”, “Men Behaving Badly”) and Warren
Clarke (“Red Riding, “Dalziel and Pascoe”)
who star as new neighbours, the Botts.
Denis Lawson, John Sessions and Bruce
Mackinnon play William’s teachers, while
Martin Jarvis, who worked on the classic Just
William recordings, will narrate the series.
Isabella Blake-Thomas will play William’s
nemesis Violet. Other cast members include
Judy Parfitt, Roy Hudd, Harry Melling and
Bertie Carvel.
Just William is adapted by prolific comedy
writer, Simon Nye, whose credits include
“Men Behaving Badly” and “Reggie Perrin”
for the BBC. Simon’s writing credits also
include a recent episode of Doctor Who
and he provided additional screenplay
material for Dreamworks Animation’s highly
successful animation “Flushed Away”.
Cast:
Just William stars Daniel Roche
(BBC One sitcom Outnumbered)
Bafta Winner Rebecca Front
(The Thick of It, Lewis)
Daniel Ryan (The Street, Survivors)
Caroline Quentin (Jonathan Creek,
Life of Riley, Blue Murder)
Warren Clarke
(Dalziel and Pascoe, Red Riding)

(Criminal Justice, The Passion)
John Sessions (Sherlock, Lewis)
The series is voiced by Martin Jarvis
who worked on the classic Just William

4 Drama
Land Girls Series 2
5 x 45’ / 2 x 100’
Created by Roland Moore, the highly popular
and award-winning drama returns for a
second series set in the rural 1940s, and
continues to follow the lives and loves of the
land girls doing their bit for Britain in the
Women’s Land Army (WLA).
Against the backdrop of war weary 1940’s
Britain , Land Girls 2 is again set on the
Hoxley estate - at the run down Pasture
Farm and the opulent Hoxley Manor – and
several months have passed since the end
of the last series. Bea, now a farmer’s wife
and mother, and land girl Joyce, are joined
at Pasture Farm by new land girl Connie. As
the women work hard on the land, serving
their country, the drama follows them as
they live out their lives in the shadow of war.
Becci Gemmell plays the fiercely patriotic
and eternally optimistic Joyce, who at the
end of the last series was briefly reunited
with her husband John, before he was forced
to join the dangerous bomber command.
Jo Woodcock plays Bea, who is married
to Billy played by Liam Boyle. She has
a six month old son, the result of being
seduced and having a one night stand with
an American GI. Despite this Bea and Billy
are now happily married, but new arrivals
in Helmstead lead to cracks appearing in
their marriage. Seline Hizli plays Connie,
a feisty, opinionated, young cockney. Prone
to telling tall stories, it is hard to know who
the real Connie is, as she causes mayhem
everywhere she goes. But after she meets
the Rev Henry Jameson (played by Liam
Garrigan) will she come good in the end?
Sophie Ward plays Lady Ellen Hoxley, the
lady of the manor. Widowed at the end
of the last series she is coping well with
bereavement, as she never had a deep love
for her husband Laurence, and is free of
his secret. Ellen now has her sister Diana
(played by Raquel Cassidy) staying with her.
The two women are very different and bicker
continually – within the confines of ‘proper’
behaviour of course! The arrival of American
businessman Jack Gillespie (played by Clive
Wood) attracts attention from them both –
leading to an upper class love triangle.
Additional new faces joining the cast are
Clive Wood (London’s Burning) who
plays millionaire American businessman
Jack Gillespie
Susan Cookson plays Esther Reeves and
Mykola Allen plays her son Martin. Along
with the land girls, who Esther looks after,
they live at Pasture Farm with Frederick
Finch (played by Mark Benton). When
Martin falls victim to a nasty accident,
Esther is faced with a moral dilemma to
save her son…
Danny Webb plays Sgt Tucker, arrested at
the end of the last series for the murder of
Lord Hoxley. As the case falls apart he is
released, but faces the struggle of having
to rebuild his life.
Raquel Cassidy (Lead Balloon, Teachers)
as Lady Hoxley’s sister the fun-loving
Diana Granville
Liam Garrigan (The Pillars of the Earth,
Holby, The Chase) who plays the young and
charming Rev Henry Jameson.
Land Girls won the Broadcast Award for
Best Daytime Programme in 2009, and the
first series attracted an average audience
of 2.1million when it was first shown on
BBC ONE Daytime.

last them a lifetime.
Naïve Bea makes the wrong choice and is
swept off her feet by a brash American GI
with far-reaching consequences. Pregnant

Sisters of War
1 x 90’
In January 1942, the Japanese war machine
thundered across South East Asia. In its path
lay a tiny Papuan mission station, Vunapope.
Here a handful of Australian nurses took
refuge along with 84 wounded Australian
soldiers. Abandoned by their commanding
officers, they were left to face the Japanese
alone. Sisters of War is inspired by the
true story of two extraordinary Australian
women, Lorna Whyte, an army nurse and
Sister Berenice Twohill, a Catholic nun
from New South Wales who was stationed
at Vunapope. Although they were two very
different women, their friendship would
survive the incredible events that followed.
After almost a year, Lorna and Sister
Berenice were separated. The Australian
nurses were sent to Yokohama to be part
of a prisoner exchange. But the exchange
programme was botched by the Australian
Government and the nurses found
themselves trapped in war time Japan,
freezing and ravaged by disease. At the
same time the inhabitants of Vunapope were
taken to a dark, uninhabited jungle valley
where they could be murdered quietly.
Sisters of War is adapted from the wartime
diaries and interviews with Lorna Whyte,
Sister Berenice and others who survived.
The story of their friendship, their captivity,
their will to prevail and their extraordinary
courage has never been told.
When the Japanese arrived at Vunapope, the
nurses and their patients were saved from
massacre by the appearance of the mission’s
leader, a goose-stepping, Iron crosswearing “Nazi”, Bishop Leo Scharmach.
This astonishing man bluffed the Japanese
into believing that he was a personal friend
of Hitler and that the mission was Hitler’s
property. Any massacre of Australians would
be a declaration of war on Germany.
In the dark days that followed Sister
Berenice and Lorna found themselves facing
starvation, beatings and torture. Their
beliefs were constantly tested, as was their
friendship. Sister Berenice idolized Bishop
Scharmach; Lorna was convinced he was
a collaborator. The tiny mission became a
setting for betrayal, heroism and death. And
all the normal rules of war were broken.
The nuns found themselves looking after
fifteen year old Japanese soldiers, weeping
and homesick. The women were frequently
kept alive by acts of kindness, often made
by Japanese soldiers who were secretly
Christians. The Americans, their allies, flew
over every night and bombed them savagely.
The Japanese executed their own wounded
who were too maimed to fight.
A Model Daughter
- The Story
of Caroline Byrne
1 x 90’
Commissioned by Network Ten, Australia.
In the early hours of June 8th, 1995, model
Caroline Byrne’s body is recovered from the
rocky shore below the sheer cliffs of the
notorious Gap, Sydney’s preferred suicide
location. Did she jump or was she pushed?
Caroline’s boyfriend Gordon Wood, chauffeur
and personal assistant to investment guru
and stockbroker Rene Rivkin, claims she
took her own life. He maintains she was
suffering depression because of her job,
and that she was haunted by her mother’s
suicide years before. Caroline’s father Tony
Byrne doesn’t buy suicide for a second. Yes,
his wife died by her own hand but Caroline
has always been a well-adjusted person.
He totally rejects Gordon’s claim she
was unhappy with her job – hadn’t she
told him how excited she was about her
career only 48 hours before? While Gordon
spins Caroline’s “suicide” every which
way he can, Tony badgers the police to
investigate what he believes is a homicide.
He is convinced that Caroline had a falling
out with Gordon over the nature of his
relationship with his flamboyant boss,
and that big strong Gordy threw her off
The Gap in a rage – how else could her
body have landed so far from the base
of the cliff?
Only through her father’s dogged battle for
justice is the truth revealed…

Affinity
1 x 90’
Set in and around the women’s prison at
Millbank in Victorian London, Affinity is an
eerie and utterly compelling ghost story,
a complex and intriguing mystery and a
poignant love story with an unexpected twist
in the tale. Following the death of her father,
Margaret Prior has decided to pursue some
‘good work’ with the lady criminals of one of
London’s most notorious gaols. Surrounded
by prisoners, murderers and common
thieves, Margaret feels herself drawn to one
of the prison’s more unlikely inmates - the
imprisoned spiritualist Selina Dawes who
weaves an enigmatic spell. Is she a fraud,
or a prodigy?
Sympathetic to the plight of the innocent
seeming Selina, Margaret sees herself
dispensing guidance and perhaps friendship
on her visits, little expecting to find
herself dabbling in a twilight world of
seances, shadows, unruly spirits and
unseemly passions.
Florey, a handsome, straight-talking
Australian in his thirties brought a new
approach to research with him when
he became Chair of The Dunn School of
Pathology at University of Oxford. He
brought together a team of brilliant scientists
with different expertise headed by German
Jewish émigré, ERNST CHAIN and
NORMAN HEATLEY.
A revealing, poignant and witty character
driven account of a scientific miracle.
Breaking The Mould was rated one of the top
five BBC4 shows of the year. Starring Dominic
West (who has received critical acclaim
as Officer James McNulty in HBO’s award
winning series ‘The Wire’ and Channel Four’s
BAFTA winning drama The Devil’s Whore) and
Dennis Lawson (Bleak House, Star Wars).

2008, before a combined 110,000 fans,
were the last performances ever to play the
historic stadium.
After 45 years, two Mets’ World Series
victories, and a concert that introduced the
Beatles to America, the last section of Shea
Stadium was torn down in 2009 and replaced
by The Mets gleaming new home, Citi Field.
One ardent fan eulogized, “Shea was a dump!
But it was our dump!”

Paul McCartney’s historic three-night musical
christening of New York’s Citi Field stadium,
witnessed by 100,000-plus attendees in July
2009, is immortalised in ‘Good Evening New
York City’ and features dazzling performances
of Beatles, Wings and solo classics. As the
inaugural musical event at Citi Field, the site
of the former Shea Stadium, the July 2009
shows held special significance - they were
performed on the same hallowed ground that
The Beatles, in 1965, played the 34-minute
show that would set the precedent for the
modern day stadium rock show – and where
in 2008 McCartney joined Billy Joel for the
final concert before the original stadium’s
demolition. The Beatles’ I’m Down from the
1965 set list was revived for the Citi Field
shows and ‘Good Evening New York City’
features a special cut which includes footage
of Paul’s 2009 performance and the original
1965 performance by The Beatles at
Shea Stadium.
In the shadow of St Basil’s Cathedral,
Lenin’s mausoleum and the Kremlin,
Paul McCartney performs at Moscow’s

6 x 30’
Six films about six very different poems
from six different places in the British Isles.
Each film tells the story of a poem - where
it comes from, how it works and the nature
and reach of its influence and legacy. Each
film is structured as a journey through that
particular landscape. Overall these are films
that open up not just the ideas of individual
poems but also the idea of poetry itself.
Presenter Owen Sheers passionately believes
that poems, and particularly poems of place,
not only effect us as individuals, but can have
the power to mark and define a collective
experience - our identities, our country, our
land. He has chosen six powerful poems, all
personal favourites and all poems that have
become part of the way we see our landscape.

My Boyfriend,
The War Hero
1 x 60’
Vicky Swales, still just 16, got engaged to her
soldier boyfriend Craig Wood, during his two
week R&R from his tour of Afghanistan . Less
than two weeks later, 18 year old Craig was
hit by a roadside explosive. He lost both legs
and an arm, becoming the youngest British
serviceman to be injured in Afghanistan and
one of only three British soldiers with a triple
amputation to have survived his injuries.
Despite her youth and the tremendous
responsibility she’s taking on, Vicky remains
desperately in love with her fiancé and has
made a commitment to share her life with
him – though it will be a very different life
to the one they envisaged when they got
engaged. As Vicky herself candidly reflects,
“you’ve got to not run away ... I could have
done that, I could have just gone, no, I’m only
16, I don’t’ want that for my life.”
Most of the implications of Vicky’s decision
to ‘stand by her man’ are still ahead of her.
He and Vicky are due to move in together
and in the run up to living together Vicky will
be learning to drive so she and Craig can
travel about independently; she’ll be looking
for a job so the couple won’t have to rely on
Craig’s compensation; and she’ll be spending
the longest time she’s ever spent with Craig
(three weeks) over his Christmas leave ...
By following Vicky‘s story in the months
before the couple get the keys to their
new house, this film reflects on Vicky’s
momentous decision to effectively ‘put
away childish things’. But as she supports
Craig through the frustrating procedure of
learning to walk on C-legs and having facial
reconstructive surgery; as she frantically
shops for furniture and prepares for them
moving in together, will her biggest struggle
actually be persuading her family and friends
that she’s grown up enough to make the
decision she’s made?

months (April to June 2010) running up to
the next inescapable round of this new rite
of passage.
Told in diary form, with pupils on the schools’
prom committees acting as our guides and
narrators, Pre-Teen Proms immerses us

Most parents now believe that childhood is
over by 11. Are they right? And how does

By intercutting the experiences of two groups

discover the challenges across the class

But underneath it all, are the Riverside and

Even if the kids aren’t, the parents are

The Wonderful
Wizard of Oz, The True Story
1 x 60’
No other novel has permeated American
popular culture nor American children’s story
been universally embraced by adults as well
as children as has The Wonderful Wizard of
Oz. Seventy years after the 1939 Hollywood
feature film which was based on the original
book, it has been seen by more people more
times than any other movie ever made.
Surprisingly, however, not everyone thinks
the Wizard is so wonderful.
Though the book still ranks as one of the
best-selling children’s titles ever, the Wizard
of Oz has repeatedly failed to make the
Best Book List compiled by librarians and
literary critics who claim, ‘The story is poorly
written, untrue to life, sensational, foolishly
sentimental and consequently unwholesome
for the children.’ Such is the opposition
that despite reader demand, some libraries,
even today, have banned the book from
their shelves.
In recent years Academics and media
practitioners have re-visited America’s most
famous fairytale to do more than re-live their
own childhood. From mathematicians, to
social historians, to economists and novelists,
many have attempted to crack the mystery
of this seemingly simple story to discover
the true, hidden events which inspired the
story of Oz.
To discover the truth, the film heads for
the Emerald City by way of a small town
in New York State where Wiz experts and
members of the Baum family convened and
gave the producers unfettered access to the
latest research and insight into the family’s
secrets and examines these facts against
the background of America’s first major,

The Trouble With Tolstoy
1 x 60’
On the centenary of Tolstoy’s death,
BBC arts series IMAGINE takes a look at
the writer’s continuing and controversial
influence in Russia today.
Tolstoy, is in every sense, the colossus of
Russian literature. Not just the author of
War and Peace and Anna Karenina, two
of the greatest novels ever written, he
was an enormously influential and prolific
social, moral and religious philosopher
whose radical ideas make him still a highly
controversial figure in Russia today.
In reaction to the autocratic tradition of
Russian politics, he espoused pacifism (he
was a friend and an inspiration to Ghandi),
an end to social hierarchy, vegetarianism
and he eventually went so far as to reject the
convention of marriage. He also became a
kind of fundamentalist christian and violently
condemned the relationship between church
and state, the critical relationship that lay
at the heart of the Russian Imperial tradition
and which increasingly appears as a
hallmark of Putin’s new Russia. In 1901
he was ex-communicated from the church
and attempts in 2000 to restore him were
thwarted in the courtroom.
Consequently in 2010, Russia, a profoundly
literary and literate nation, is celebrating
Tolstoy, its greatest writer’s centenary
… with caution.
In this film, Alan Yentob travels by train into
the heart of Russia to listen to what Russians
talk about when they talk about Tolstoy – how
comfortable are they with their awkward,
firey, anti-establishment literary superhero? It’s a journey that offers a glimpse of
the contemporary Russian soul, as Yentob talks
to a wide range of ordinary and not so
ordinary people about a writer who at least in
theory, has been read by every living Russian
who ever went to school and about whom
many of them hold passionate opinions.

‘Stephen Fry In America’ is a six part
documentary series in which Stephen Fry
travels across America, visiting each state,
hearing its song, visiting its landmarks and
distinctive sites, looking at its unique and

discovering the true natures of the 50
individual parts that make up the whole. Fry
takes in the small town life of Independence

marvellous and particular to its people,

on a dramatic, terrifying, life enhancing
celebratory adventure to bring the

In the most dramatic and moving episode

the work of exhumation specialist, Peter
Mitchell, whose profession has already seen
him exhume 30,000 bodies - sometimes
individuals, sometimes whole cemeteries
and rebury them in new graves. We follow
Peter over several months as he supervises
the controversial exhumation of a Christian
cemetery in Egypt - where some of the
bodies have been buried for as little as just a
few months and oversees a mass exhumation
job at an old churchyard in Scotland.

Nominated for Best Documentary
Programme at the Broadcast Awards. The
early 1980s was an exciting time in Stephen
Fry’s life, he left university, moved to the big
city and his career was just beginning to take
off. But this was also the time that he, like the
rest of the world, first heard that a strange
and devastating virus had arrived on our
doorstep. Bemused scientists were at a loss
to find an effective treatment. It didn’t have a
name then, but now it is known to all as HIV.
25 years on HIV is still here, but an awful lot
has changed. From USA, to Africa, and the
UK, Stephen Fry will track down people
whose lives have been transformed by this
brutal disease, including those he holds
dear. Stephen meets the doctors who were
instrumental in initially defining the disease,
such as Professor Brian Gazzard, formerly
Freddy Mercury’s doctor and Professor
Michael Gottlieb, Rock Hudson’s doctor.
He talks to people serving jail sentences
for deliberately spreading the disease, and
to public figures such as writer Armistead
Maupin, who are all dedicated to spreading
awareness. Stephen also sets out to track
down some of the earliest diagnosed people
who are, miraculously, still alive. He discovers
what living with HIV really means, and what
the future holds for this persistent and
misunderstood illness.

Penn & Teller
: Fool Us !
Penn & Teller are loved and respected
in the magic world. They created this
show because they live to be fooled.
No one becomes a magician without loving
the wondrous feeling of being fooled
and Penn & Teller are always looking for
someone who will leave them gobsmacked.
The magicians take Penn & Teller’s word
on if they’re fooled, but Penn & Teller give
a little more to the audience at home.
They let the audience in on a few of the
techniques that were used. They let the
audience share in the brilliant secrets
that are used by magicians.
Penn & Teller: Fool Us! is a new way to
do magic on TV. The rules are simple:
the greatest magicians in the world,
amateur and professional, famous and
unknown do their best tricks to try to
fool Penn & Teller.
The audience is sure there are no camera
tricks. They know there are no fancy edits.
They know there are no endless retakes.
None of this electronic trickery is possible
because Penn & Teller wouldn’t allow it.
This is all real magic.
Every other magic show that has ever
been on TV has used some sort of TV “magic”
to help the live magic. Not this show.
And the tricks that Penn & Teller do are
done live with no camera tricks. This isn’t
a street magic show, this is real magic.
Jonathan Ross is the host. He’s a huge
fan of magic and it shows. He guides the
audience through the magic world as he
brings on the magicians who think they
can fool Penn & Teller and chats with the
contenders while Penn & Teller work out
the tricks.
Penn & Teller: Fool Us! is the best way to
do magic on TV. It’s like being backstage
with Penn & Teller as the best magicians
in the world come to hang out and fool the
living snot out of the masters.

You’re Cut Off
Series 2
8 x 60’
Last year in season 1 of You’re Cut Off, VH1
came to the rescue of eight families who all
had one thing in common: They were sick
and tired of dealing with their spoiled rotten
princess daughters.
Now it’s time for season 2 of You’re Cut Off with eight more women enrolled in this tough
therapy program for spoiled bratesses.
This year’s cast members are led to believe
they’re trying out for a reality show called
The Search for the Next ‘It’ Girl.” They arrive
in LA and hit a red carpet for a fancy party
in their honor. But inside the soiree, their
benefactors appear on video monitors to
deliver the shocking news: They’re being cut
off. The party ends, limos vanish, and the
new You’re Cut Off cast are whisked away in
mundane minivans to a middle class home
in the Valley.
In season 2, Laura’s program is way more
intense. The women work on their work ethic
by cleaning up at the very same country clubs
they usually frequent. They confront their own
wasteful consumption by spending a few days
with back-to-the-land homesteaders, who
rarely shower and grow their own food. They
learn valuable career skills from working
at a restaurant. They’re taught how to shop
on a budget. Most important, they’re forced
to shed their chronic dependency on others
and pull their own weight as members of
a community.
But, in the end, it’s up to the benefactors to
decide whether the girls have made enough
progress to be welcomed back home.

Series 1
Unique to Hardliners are razor sharp hooks
– thousands of them – that are used to catch
the big fish. Slack off and you could end
up with a flying piece of sharp stainless steel
stuck in you.
8 x 60’
The prize is big tuna and the highly valuable
Southern Blue Fin Tuna – all of which is
quickly exported to Japan. A premium fish
can be worth the price of a family sedan.
An average tuna can be worth thousands of
dollars at auction.
The country is gripped by massive
unemployment. An epidemic of foreclosures.
Investments down the tubes. Our ears are
still ringing from the eruption of the housing
and credit bubbles. For many Americans,
it’s bad out there.
But for these nine spoilt rotten princesses,
life has never been anything but a non-stop
party, filled with power shopping, mani-pedis
and bottle service. All thanks to their rich
Mommies, Daddies and other benefactors
who’ve indulged their every whim.
Well no more.
Their benefactors have decided that in these
tough times, enough is enough. They think
it’s high time their princesses learn how to
become productive members of society - not
an endless drain on their finances.

Hardliners
10 x 30’
Larger than life Australian long-line
fishermen are at the heart of this actionpacked factual series.
The high seas adventure series focuses on
a unique breed of action men who risk their
lives every day chasing monster fish off the
east coast of Australia.
The colourful skippers and crews of
Hardliners ply their trade in busy shipping
lanes whilst being followed by fearsome
sharks such as Great Whites, Tigers
and Makos.
The men of Hardliners must also brave the
winter storms of the southern Pacific Ocean
and avoid near misses with cargo ships
which often run over and cut the Hardliners’
fishing lines in half.
But while they can earn a very good living,
there are gut-wrenching times when
exhausted crews can work for days and not
catch a fish. No fish means no money.
Hardliners provides a remarkable and
fascinating insight into human endurance and
bravery. In the end, viewers will marvel at
the sheer guts, good humour and true grit of
the men working Hardliners.

Chemical Wedding
1 x 75”
Cambridge University, the year 2000. Lia, 19,
a graduate student, is looking for a scoop
for the college newspaper when she learns
of an interesting meeting - a joint scientific
venture to bring a state-of-the-art Virtual
Reality suit from Cal Tech in California to
Cambridge to be linked up to the Z93: the
biggest, super-conductive computer in the
world to assist in a study of the complexities
of the human brain.
Heading the American team is the suit’s
designer, Dr Joshua Mathers – Lia meets
Mathers at the station and there is an
immediate attraction between the
red-haired student and the handsome
physicist. Mathers’ counterpart is Dr. Victor
Neuman, the main programmer for the Z93.
Neuman is also an obsessive follower of
the turn-of-the-century occultist, Aleister
Crowley (Simon Callow, Four Weddings and
a Funeral, Rome). He has reduced Crowley’s
black magic ceremonies to a series of
equations and is entering them into the Z93.
Dr. Neuman realises that the Virtual Reality
suit is the ideal vehicle to perform an occult
union between his computer programme
and the human brain. His accomplice,
Dr. Oliver Haddo, a classics lecturer and
part time magician is coerced into the suit
to perform this union.
75
After a few moments in the suit, Haddo
collapses to the floor as the computer floods
his brain with wild, occult images. Haddo
breaks loose from the suit and escapes the
laboratory, a changed man. Haddo ‘becomes’
Crowley and starts to live out Crowley’s
wildest fantasies. Neuman begins to suspect
that Haddo may indeed be a reincarnation
of the dead magician.
To consolidate his form, Haddo plans to
perform Crowley’s most powerful rite. The
generation of Choronzon, the power that
represents the sum total of negative energy
from the abyss. To perform this rite Haddo
requires his blood union with a scarlet
woman in the ultimate occult ceremony.
– the Chemical Wedding.
Dr. Mathers realises Haddo has targeted Lia
as his ‘scarlet woman’. To save her he dons
the Virtual Reality suit to confront Crowley’s
magic with the modern magic of science.
The conflict between ancient magic and
modern science is classical but its outcome
is astounding as Physics meets Metaphysics
in the powerful medieval ritual of the
Chemical Wedding…

CollegeHumor

The CollegeHumor Show is an offbeat look
into the company that creates some of
today’s most popular Internet comedy.
The young characters infuse their workplace
with a playful, not entirely mature attitude,
making it feel more like a summer camp
without counsellors than an actual
functioning business (turn the boss’s office
into a ball pit? Why not?). The strength of
the show lies in its ability to capture the
energy and randomness of Internet comedy
while grounding the fast-paced scenes
in a relatable, character-driven story.
The jokecrammed vignettes may veer off
towards absurdity, and you never know
when a sketch might break out. However,
at the end of the day, this is a show about
what happens when young people have
a little too much freedom, and when that
‘real world’ our parents always warned us
about never quite comes to pass.

Based on the torturous Japanese game
show, where Japanese male students take
on ridiculous and painful sporting tasks
as a test of their ‘extreme endurance’, whilst
the action is enhanced by the hilarious
commentary from a studio team of ‘expert’
pundits. This series of 25 fast-paced 12
minute episodes features original footage
from the original Japanese game show.
Also available as a format. The antithesis
of the game show that tests the bravery /
stupidity of a nation’s men & women.
Watch in wonder as competitors undergo
agonizing tests of physical and mental
torture to pass through into the next round
for further torment.

The original agonizing game show.
Risking life and limb in series of games
that can be painful to watch. Which one
of these kamikaze competitors will
survive the agonies of the human rack,
man-eating alligator, cannon balls up
the backside or scorched nipples?
Filmed live at the legendary Comedy Store
in Soho, London, this series show-cases
some of the best stand-up talent on the
circuit, including award winning Dara
O’Briain, Dave Spikey, The Mighty Boosh’s
Noel Fielding and Alan Carr, Time Out Best
