Follow That Dream
In this adaptation of the novel, Pioneer, Go
Home!, Pop Kwimper’s (Arthur O'Connell) vagabond family, including son Toby (Elvis Presley), Holly Jones (Anne Helm) and various
adopted children travel through Florida where
Pop drives onto an as-yet-unopened section of
highway. When the car runs out of gas, Holly
persuades Toby to persuade Pop to take up
residence on the land next to the road, where a
chance encounter with an avid fisherman gives
Holly the idea to build a business that caters to
sport fishermen.
Soon the family’s idyllic new existence is
threatened by a jilted, Toby-obsessed social
worker who tries to take the children away; a
government official determined to evict the
squatters from their eyesore of a home and a
couple of gamblers who set up a casino in a
nearby trailer.
In the end, Toby's earthy wits win over the
judge and the family returns to its new home.
Elvis stayed in Crystal River, during the shoot - an easy drive to the locations that took him to
Ocala, Inverness, Yankeetown and Tampa.
The Goonies
This cult favorite features a band of pre-teens
who live in the "Goon Docks" neighborhood of
Astoria, Oregon who attempt to save their
homes from demolition, and in doing so, discover an old Spanish map that leads them on
an adventure to unearth the long-lost fortune of
One-Eyed Willy, a legendary 17th-century pirate. All along the way, a family of treasureseeking criminals add more chaos – and fun –
to the adventure.
The film brought together a cast of fresh faces
and soon-to-be movie stars like Joe Pantoliano
Josh Brolin, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman and
Martha Plimpton alongside veteran character
actor, Anne Ramsey. Director Richard Donner
notes the difficulties and pleasures of working
with so many child actors. Donner praised them
for their energy and excitement while noting,
“they were a handful when brought together.”

Sharon Boeckle, Director
Filmmaker Attending
Main Theater – 5:00 pm
Kill Pen is an exploration of the criminal activity behind the
underground horse slaughter industry in America. With candid
interviews, whistleblower footage and underground video, Kill Pen investigates how and
why unregulated horsemeat is getting into the human food chain. The film examines the
risks of consumption in such a system, as many of these horses are diseased and
heavily drugged with dangerous, disease-causing substances. Clearly, this is a system
which should not flourish in the United States, but powerful political and economic
forces encourage its existence.

Two feisty Western Shoshone sisters fight for their land rights and
human rights.
Until 1973, life was hard but satisfying for Carrie and Mary Dann,
who ranch on their ancestral homestead in beautiful, but barren,
north central Nevada. Like most Western ranchers, the sisters graze their livestock
outside their ranch on the open range – land recognized as Western Shoshone land by
the United States government.
One morning in 1973, the United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM) informed
the Danns that their animals were trespassing on U.S. Public Land and set off a dispute
between the Dann sisters and the United States that’s raged for 35 years, to the
Supreme Court and beyond, to the United Nations.

Canvas takes us to a small coastal town where contractor John
Marino (Joe Pantoliano) struggles to understand his wife, Mary
(Marcia Gay Harden), when she starts behaving strangely.
Soon, a doctor's visit reveals her schizophrenia. Nothing the
doctors do helps and John must live with his wife's incurable
mental illness, while helping their son Chris (Devon Gearhart)
make sense of things. As Mary’s health declines, John finds an
unexpected source of comfort in his son.
The film’s portrayal of schizophrenia and the family’s portrait of
love under enormous stress has been praised by mental health
experts as unusually accurate and sympathetic. This may be
largely due to Writer/Director Joseph Greco’s own childhood;
growing up with a schizophrenic mother and a father determined
to build a sailboat comes from Greco's own life. The film boasts
powerful, honest portrayals by Pantoliano, Harden and Gearhart.
As the film opens, Mary is just a little too demonstrative in her love for her son, Chris. That night Chris
is awakened by familiar flashing blue lights through his bedroom window; his mother has had another
panic attack. Eventually, Mary finds herself locked away, “for her own good.” This, in turn, increases
Chris’ struggle with his mother’s situation, as cruel schoolmates taunt him about his “crazy mother”.
Desperate for distraction, Chris’ father, John, begins to build a sailboat in the family’s driveway. Now
Chris begins to hear that his dad is crazy, too. It all begins to be too much, even for a wise and solemn kid like Chris, especially when his mother inappropriately crashes his birthday party.
John continues his work on the sailboat,
spending money he doesn’t have, earned
from a job he’s held for 20 years, under
a difficult and unsavory boss. Though he
is not always perceptive enough to gauge
and meet his son’s needs, John strives to
hold his family together.
The film's ending may be more upbeat
than the characters could hope for in real
life, but it doesn't cave in to neat solutions. One scene in particular looks like a manufactured happy ending until the camera pulls back and
provides a context for it. "Canvas" is a touching story of these people for whom the only response to
mental illness is love.
Established character actor Joe Pantoliano, famous for his role
on The Sopranos, and for playing gangster and comic types has
a role here that most people would never think of him for, and he
brings it tenderness and depth, portraying a man who still loves
his wife, and yearns for her return to health. Pantoliano brings a
confidence and understanding to his character’s dimensions that
is a revelation, proving he is not another actor who istrapped by
typecasting and we reap the benefits of these unexplored regions
of his estimable talents.
Marcia Gay Harden finds Mary’s madness while grounding her in reality,
running wild at times, but always as a human being.
As the son, Chris, Devon Gearhart, holds his place at the center of
many of the film’s crucial scenes. Gearhart’s unaffected, natural sincerity
is effective and convincing.
Joseph Greco was born in Hollywood, Florida and attended Florida
State University's School of Motion Picture, Television and Recording Arts. As a child, Joe Greco wanted to be a magician and was admitted into The Society of American Magicians when he was only
14. His love for magic soon evolved into a passion for movies. Greco
wrote and directed the feature film Canvas (2006), which won several best feature film awards including the Alice Nella Citta (Best Feature) at the Rome Film Festival in 2007 and was an official selection
at several film festivals including The Hamptons, AFI Dallas and
Roger Ebert's Ebertfest.
“During the third week of shooting (October 24, 2005), Hurricane
Wilma ‘hammered us’ and almost shut down the production of the
film.” - Joseph Greco, Director
Brotherhood Of The Popcorn is an inspiring, nostalgic documentary about friendship, classic films,
growing old, and living life to the fullest. It is a heartwarming story about a group of lively senior citizens
who call themselves, 'The Cliffhangers.' The group
has met on Saturdays for over 35 years to watch
and celebrate the classic American films of Hollywood.
Our narrator, and originator of the club, Woody
Wise guides us through his home (formerly a building on Bette Davis’ estate) on a typical Saturday;
where the Cliffhangers meet, have breakfast, watch
a double-feature, a cliffhanger serial, and also have
lunch. They talk about everything under the sun:
movies, family, wives, stars, surgeries, their health,
their diet, their retirements, their kids, their pets,
their loves (and although the rules state that members cannot talk about religion or politics) they
somehow end up talking about that, too. Told
through the lens of their unique personalities, it becomes apparent that their individual life stories and
struggles are just as interesting as the movies they
watch! This documentary demonstrates how each
of their lives have been shaped by the 'Saturday Matinee' of yester-year, the era they grew up in,
and the history of Hollywood and it's movies.
The film also explores film preservation, the progression of animation, film projectors, silent films,
theater organs and movie theaters. Brotherhood Of The Popcorn is chock full of vintage stock footage of Hollywood, the major studios, film sets, and movie stars and is sure to make every movielover's heart rate skip a beat or two. This special film celebrates tradition, friendship, nostalgia and
films - the good ole' fashion way; with your buddies and a box of popcorn. They just don't make
'em like they used to!
“Brotherhood of the Popcorn is a winning portrait of a group of friends who get together regularly in
order to rejoice in the magic of movies. Their camaraderie is infectious, their passion is powerful
and their life stories will cast a warm glow that stays with you long after the film ends."
- Irv Slifkin (Film International, Reel East Film Festival)
No Kidding! Me 2!! Is Joe Pantoliano’s (The
Sopranos, Memento, The Matrix) documentary
directorial debut with as part of his fight against the
stigma and shame of mental/brain “dis-ease” (or
disease). This empowering film sheds light on what
nearly 100 million Americans suffer in isolation. Through
candid, often humorous discussions with Pantoliano and
his family on their struggle with his own clinical
depression, as well as the compelling stories of five
other people from all walks of life, all affected differently
by mental illness: a brain surgeon with bipolar disorder, a
psychologist with ADHD, and three high school students
managing bipolar disorder and clinical depression. Each
frankly discusses the struggle before they were
diagnosed, including attempts at self-medication and
other destructive behavior, as well as the hope and encouragement they discover when
managing their own recovery and realizing they are not alone.
The result is an inspiring vision of a society that “stomps the stigma,” as those impacted
by mental illness are surprised to find millions of others like themselves, saying, “No
kidding, me too!”
Why the film and what’s next?
No Kidding, Me Too! is a 501(c)(3) public charity, whose
purpose is to remove the stigma attached to brain dis-ease (BD)
through education and the breaking down of societal barriers.
Our goal is to empower those with BD to admit their illness,
seek treatment, and become even greater members of society.
The Goal
Make BD cool and sexy. We want a normal conversation in America to be:
“I have bipolar disorder/schizophrenia/(insert dis-ease).”
“No Kidding, Me Too!”
Who Has The Stigma
Those suffering from brain dis-eases including anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, social anxiety
disorder, specific phobias, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, anorexia
nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating, pyromania, kleptomania, compulsive gambling,
addictions, paranoia, multiple personality disorder, gender identity disorder, Down\’s
syndrome, psychosomatic disorder, traumatic brain injury (TBI), tic disorders, and
others.
Four young Cowboys hatch an outrageous plot to
adopt, train, and ride a string of wild mustangs 3,000
miles from Mexico to Canada through the wildest
terrain of the American West.
The trip became an epic journey of self -discovery,
tested friendships, and iconic landscapes that included
runaway horses, a sassy donkey, perilous mountain
passes, rodeos, sickness, injury, and death.
The Audience Award winner at Telluride Mountainfilm
and Hot Docs Film Festival, Unbranded is a soaring
tale of danger and resilience, an emotionally charged
odyssey that shines a bright light on the complex plight
of our country's wild horses.
Ben Masters is the “mastermind” of Unbranded. In 2010, he and two friends
completed a 2,000-mile ride along the Continental Divide. They were broke at the
time and adopted some $125 mustangs from the Bureau of Land Management to
supplement their string of quarter horses. They were surprised to find the mustangs
outperformed the domestic horses. Intrigued, Masters looked into the wild horse
controversy and found a sad and complex situation: 50,000 unwanted wild horses
and burros living in government -leased pens and pastures and in need of permanent
homes. He decided to do something about it.
The Unbranded idea was born. Masters recruited riders Jonny Fitzsimons, Thomas
Glover, and Ben Thamer to join him on his quest and brought Director Phillip
Baribeau on board to guide the film’s production.
Masters then inspired and persuaded organizations and individuals from around the
world to join the Unbranded mission, which resulted in a successful Kickstarter campaign and crucial funding for the project. During the ride, Masters was charged with
the mapping and logistics for sixteen horses, four Aggies, and three alternating
cameramen traveling through unpredictable terrain with changing landowners, agencies, and restrictions.
A native Texan, Ben Masters graduated from Texas A&M with a
degree in wildlife biology. During college, he attended classes in the
spring, led horseback rides in Yellowstone during the summer, guided
Wyoming elk hunts in the fall, and managed the Jacalon Ranch in South
Texas over the winter. Masters, who is CEO of Fin & Fur Films, LLC, is
an accomplished photographer, an experienced horse trainer and packer,
a dedicated conservationist, and main author of the book Unbranded.
“It was a very easy decision for me,” says Thomas Glover, “to put everything on hold after graduation and go on this trip. I’m a city boy whose
heart belongs in the mountains.” Glover hails from the big city of Houston,
TX but took to the mountains like an old school packer.
While earning his degree in Construction Science at Texas A&M University,
Glover spent his summers leading horseback rides in Rocky Mountain National Park and one fall guiding elk hunts in W yoming. His reliability, mapping, and horseshoeing skills were crucial to the success of the trip.
As a kid, Ben Thamer spent every spare minute camping, fishing, hunting
or skiing, which “taught me to appreciate the natural world and thrills that
only Mother Nature can provide,” obsessed with the cowboy lifestyle.
He holds a degree in Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M. "I joined a fraternity and started heading down the conventional path to a job in an office, wife, kids and a house on a cul- ‐de-‐sac... When Masters asked if I
wanted to go on this trip, I couldn't say no." Thamer's quick wit, willingness
to be the cook, and vet skills made him an ideal traveling partner. Thamer
now works in the Texas Cattle business.
Jonny Fitzsimons grew up on a cattle ranch in South Texas. He’s been
on horseback since he could walk and is an accomplished horseman
with skills in polo and training horses. He graduated from Texas A&M with
a History degree. Jonny alternated his summers between working on a
horse ranch in Argentina, chasing poachers in Tanzania, and working
dude and cattle ranches in Southern W yoming. He is currently working as
a petroleum landman in Texas. Jonny is the guy you can rely on to get
things done, and stay calm in a crisis. He is razor sharp, has a wonderful
dry sense of humor, and his experienced horsemanship was a huge asset
to the team.

Amid Virginia’s fertile Shenandoah Valley, Joel Salatin, a self-described “Christian-libertarianenvironmentalist-capitalist-lunatic-Farmer” uses his 500 acre farm to turn traditional farming on its
ear, producing high-quality "beyond organic" meats through environmentally responsible, ecologically
beneficial, regenerative agriculture.
On the other side of the planet, Darren J. Doherty, Lisa Heenan and their 3 children, Isaebella,
Pearl and Zane, travel the world helping to regenerate communities, landscapes, farms and most
importantly, soils. Salatin’s efforts will inspire this Australian family’s passion and lead them to
spend their home-building budget and four years of their lives to make a film that will inspire
change and help save humanity – their gift to the Global Village.
The farm is Polyface Farms, the film is Polyfaces, and together they challenge our world view
and inspire us to grow our ideas of farming, food and regeneration to transform our shared global
community.
Polyface Farm uses no chemicals and supplies more than 6,000 families, restaurants and cafes
within a 3 hour “food-shed” of their farm. Time Magazine
calls Joel Salatin "The world's most innovative farmer".
Polyfaces follows the Salatins, a fourth generation farming
family, who do everything different than everyone else.
Through the lens of this joyful film, we spend 3 years with
the family on their farm where they teach us to reconnect
with the land and produce food in a way that works with
nature - not against it. Using the symbiotic relationships
of animals and their natural functions, they produce high
quality, nutrient-dense products.
Through Polyfaces, the Salatins show how they regenerate their landscapes, communities, local
economies, customer’s health and most importantly their soils. And we meet Polyface graduates
and team members, who share their powerful, personal journeys as they benefit physically and
emotionally from the Salatin's way of farming.
Agriculture is the most damaging industry on the planet but it doesn't have to be!
The replication of the Polyface method, throughout our Global Village, proves that we can provide quality produce without depleting our planet.
Polyfaces, the film, is a multi award-winning documentary (including the prestigious Minister for
Agriculture award at the Life Sciences Film Festival in Prague) that recently celebrated its L.A. and
NYC Oscar-qualifying premieres in December of 2015 with one of the stars, Joel Salatin and filmmakers Lisa Heenan and Darren Doherty attending for Q&A after each screening.
"As the problems of the world become more and more complex,
the solutions become clear and simple.”
Praise for Polyfaces...
The Weinstein Company’s Harvey Weinstein recently praised ‘Polyfaces’, “…Thank you for sending
us POLYFACES. It’s an ambitious project, and truly inspiring. The message is clear, regenerating soil is what will save the world. Lisa and Darren did a beautiful job with this…”
Michael Pollan (Food, Inc., In Defense of Food, The Botany of Desire) had this to say, “I have no
doubt that your film (Polyfaces) will fill young people with optimism and stoke their desire to farm.
I can't imagine watching it as a 20 year old and not deciding this is what I want to do!”
After viewing Polyfaces Alexandra Jamieson, co-creator of Super Size Me and author of Women,
Food, and Desire, shared this, “Growing up on a small organic farm, I saw first-hand what it took to
produce food for a family of four. Becoming vegan for ten years was my attempt to heal myself and
the planet, but there was always something missing: an understanding of the beautiful, complex
web of animals, soil, and humans working together to feed billions. Polyfaces offers a roadmap
and inspiration to make that web replicable. Watch it. Get inspired.”

“We want to inspire the conscious consumer to demand
the change they want to see.” - Lisa Heenan
Lisa (Producer/Co-Director/Cinematoghrapher) is the youngest of 12 children

Joseph Peter Pantoliano was born in 1951 in Hoboken, New Jersey, to first
generation Italian-Americans, Mary (Centrella), a seamstress and bookie, and
Dominic Pantoliano, a hearse driver and foreman at a factory. Despite suffering
from severe dyslexia that made studies difficult for him, Pantoliano displayed
acting talent from an early age and moved to Manhattan after high school to
pursue an acting career.
After 4 years of auditions, acting classes, waiting tables and a role as Billy Bibbit in
the touring stage production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Joe moved to
California to pursue television and film acting. He successfully landed a number of
television roles before his feature film break in The Idolmaker (1980). But his real
Hollywood breakthrough came with him opposite a 21-year-old Tom Cruise as the
ruthless pimp Guido in 1983's Risky Business. He rise continued in 1985 when he
appeared as the villainous Francis Fratelli in the classic, The Goonies. Joe gained
new fame amongst a new generation as Cypher in the 1999 landmark sci-fi film,
The Matrix, and in 2003 Pantoliano replaced Stanley Tucci in the Broadway play
Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. That same year, he won an Emmy Award
as Ralph Cifaretto in HBO's The Sopranos, for which he also received 2 SAG Award
nominations. He is also known for Eddie Moscone, the foul-mouthed bail bondsman,
in the Robert De Niro comedy Midnight Run; Captain Howard in Bad Boys and Bad
Boys 2; John "Teddy" Gammell in Memento and Deputy-Marshal Cosmo Renfro in
The Fugitive and its sequel, U.S. Marshals, along with Tommy Lee Jones. He is
known for his portrayals of criminals, criminal investigators, detectives, and forensic
specialists with a wisecracking touch.
Joe is married to former model Nancy Sheppard, with whom he has two daughters,
Daniella and Isabella. Pantoliano also has a son, Marco, from a previous marriage,
and a step-daughter, Melody.
When not acting and spending time with family, Pantoliano also writes. He is the
author of two memoirs: Who’s Sorry Now: The True Story of a Stand-Up Guy and
Asylum: Hollywood Tales From My Great Depression: Brain Dis-Ease, Recovery
and Being My Mother’s Son. In the latter, he writes about his addictions to alcohol,
food, sex, Vicodin and Percocet, before being diagnosed with clinical depression.
James “Tim” Walker was born in 1948 in Hollywood, California, the cradle of
animated film. Vivid memories of watching cartoons at his Grandmother’s house
fueled his love for animation, and in high school he spent more time drawing
and looking for animation art in the dumpster at the Hanna-Barbera studio than
studying. One such dumpster dive ended with Mr. Barbera yelling, “Get out of
that dumpster, you knot-head!” At that moment, who could know that one of
Tim’s proudest moments would come, years later, when Bill Hanna would
review one of Tim’s animation scenes and gave him an approving nod.
Tim graduated from the prestigious Chouinard Art Institute (Now, thanks to Walt and Roy Disney, CalArts California Institute of the Arts) and started a career in animation that brought him to the
Disney studio, Hanna-Barbera, Filmation, numerous commercial houses and for the
past 27 years, Warner Bros. animation. With 4 Daytime Emmy and five Prime Time
Emmy Nominations, for which he won two, James T. Walker has been a driving force
in the world animation for nearly five decades. Tim’s hand can be seen in hundreds of
productions as an animator, director and producer, having worked on numerous
“characters” including Scrooge McDuck, Tom and Jerry, Sylvester and Tweety,
The Flintstones, Batman and Superman and all the DC Super Heroes… the list goes on and on.
Who would have thought the five year old kid who fell in love with cartoons at his Grandmother’s house would
go on to work with some of the legends of animation. But no ride is without its bumps, the biggest being in
2007, when Tim was diagnosed with lateral Parkinson’s disease on his right side - he knew his life would never be the same. Tim made his way through the initial shock of the diagnosis remembering the words of a
good friend: “Problem – solution; problem – solution.” Tim’s solution –“Buy a sketch book and teach myself to
draw with my left hand.” Having found challenges, accomplishments, enjoyment, discipline and solace
through drawing for so much of his life, the transition to drawing with his left hand helped him find his way
through the challenges of Parkinson’s disease. Hence his first book titled, Drawings from the Left.
One day, while under contract to Disney, Tim had lunch and one too many martinis and agreed to sign on as
animation director for a project that would become the biggest part of the next 26 years of his career - Warner
Bros. Adventures of Batman. Now a Disney employee by day and a caped crusader by night, Tim’s affinity for
alcohol took a toll on his work and eventually he moved toward a life of sobriety with the help of a 12 Step program. The program and his loving, supportive friends helped him deal with his alcoholism and ultimately the
even greater challenge that was yet to come. In his 12 Step program he learned, “never run, never drink, never use, and don’t leave before the miracle happens.” Seven years after he picked himself up off the floor, a
new medication returned function to his right side, and one recent afternoon he danced in the same parking
lot where he had once planned to load the trunk of his car with vodka and drive south. The
medication has bought him precious time, stalling the disease’s inevitable progression. At
times the medication is less effective—late at night and frustrating days when he rips up
much of his work. Tim is haunted by the future. However, he believes that whenever there
is life, there is hope. There was a time when Tim would have said his proudest accomplishment was his work - now it’s his family, and finding himself serving as an unexpected inspiration to those who find themselves in the midst of hardship they believe they can’t overcome. Tim continues to share his remarkable journey with his second book, Shaken Not
Broken, due out in Spring 2016 and he is featured in the SSIFF’16 Documentary Feature,
The Brotherhood of the Popcorn.
