Dear Friends,
The end of the Easter season will come this month as we celebrate Ascension Thursday on the 9th of May and then Day of Pentecost on May 19th – Whitsunday – the birthday of the Church.
We don’t seem to celebrate Pentecost as we used to; after all it is
a very important day in the Christian calendar. From Luke’s account of that first Pentecost (Acts 2) it was an earth shattering
day for the disciples; a great wind; flames of fire resting on each
one; wild and untamable forces. It must have been both terrifying and exhilarating at the same time. Of course we can’t really
know what it was like in that room, but whatever this “something”
was, it transformed a small group of frightened, puzzled and
mostly uneducated men and women into a force to be reckoned
with right across the known world.
Have you ever experienced that feeling when you want to shout
from the rooftops “Jesus loves us”? That’s the Holy Spirit letting
you know He’s about. To some He comes quietly and unannounced, transforming lives without any fuss. Jesus always delivers on His promises.
God didn’t send the Holy Spirit just on that first Pentecost as a
one off – His Holy Spirit is amongst now, every day, waiting,
watching. But (there’s always a “but”), be prepared for anything
because there’s no telling what the Spirit may do. There’s no
good fighting against the Spirit either – believe me I know! The
Holy Spirit gifted to the disciples on that first Pentecost – gifted
to us every day of our lives – accept the gift and let Him work in
you.
Join the celebration; we have a great deal to rejoice Alleluia!
With love and every blessing to you and yours
Kathleen

ST PETER’S LADIES FELLOWSHIP
The Revd Kathleen opened our April meeting with a short service
and Mrs Muriel Evans welcomed everyone before introducing Dilys Williams who gave a very interesting talk on the suffragette
movement and the struggle for women's better standing in society and the right for women to vote. She outlined the long and
sometimes violent fight by many outstanding women in their determination to improve the lives of women in a male dominated
society of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Final arrangements were made for the annual outing on April
27th.

Sickness.
There have been quite a few parishioners not enjoying the best of
health of late and we send our love and prayers to them, hoping
that they will be enjoying better health very soon. We also remember in our prayers all who are grieving the loss of a loved one, for
those who find life difficult at present, we place them all in God’s
hands in the hope that they may feel the comfort of His love.
Loving and gracious Lord,
we bring before you all who are struggling at this time.
We ask your presence to bring them comfort and hope,
that they may know your love and care, through Jesus Christ our
Lord.
