Our Summer worship will be a
kind of "experiment" where we
explore
worship
together,
getting to know our differences
and our similarities. There will
be opportunities for giving feedback on what
works
(and
what
doesn't
quite)
for
us. Please join us at 9:00 a.m. beginning
June 26 and try it out!

GARDEN HARVEST, but we need all
types of vegetables and fruits to make
our display beautiful. Please remember
that your contributions can come from the garden, a
farmers' market or grocery store. So, even if you don’t
have a garden, you can still help by purchasing a few items
at a local roadside stand or the supermarket. Please bring
all produce to the church lobby prior to 12:30 p.m. on
Saturday, September 19. Your help to set up the display
would also be appreciated. Contact Diane Hemerly at 610285-6297 or Pat Elliott at 610-395-8034.

playing together: swimming, boating, hiking, worshipping,
playing games, discussing their faith, camping, making arts
and crafts, learning about the environment, singing and
much more. Church sponsorships are available to help with
the cost.
Would you like to help sponsor a child attending Bear
Creek Camp, located in Bear Creek PA? As the camp costs
have risen, gifts toward the sponsorship of a child attending
the camp would be greatly appreciated. Place your gift in
an envelope marked "Bear Creek Camp Sponsor" and
include it with your offering any Sunday morning. Don't
forget to put your name on the envelope. If you have

Any blood donations made are used by anyone in the
community hospitals when they need it most. By donating
blood the donors are assuring the blood will be available to
whoever needs it. Miller-Keystone needs 450 people each
day to donate blood in order to keep the hospitals
supplied. Some days are easier than others but the
summer and winter months are when donors are needed
the most. You may donate anytime by calling the Miller

I love long morning walks in the spring and summer. My
problem lies in how exactly to fit a walk into the day
without waking up at 5:30 a.m. I always feel as if I am
running from one place to another, and moving from one
task to another. The benefits of my morning walks are
many.
I feel more energetic because of the physical
exercise, but more than that I feel connected to God, and
more aware of the beauty of life that sometimes hides itself
in the busy-ness of the day.
One morning I was walking near a pond, I heard the long,
deep call of a bullfrog. On the hill above the pond the deer
wandered in the field, grazing on the new vegetation
sprouting from the earth.
A heavy fog lay over the
surrounding hills and fields; eerie and beautiful at the same
time, threatening but peaceful.
Isn’t that just how life is for many of us? Our lives are filled
with daily contradictions. We have relationships that are
simple and filled with joy, and we have relationships that
we struggle to understand. We think we have everything
figured out, and then in the blink of an eye everything
changes. We find ourselves facing decisions or situations
we do not understand and cannot control. We realize life is
not either/or, one or the other, black or white. And in
those moments, I try to find my peace in the shades of
gray. The gray that I enjoy in my life, is found in sharing
stories and memories, and moments in time with the
people that God, in His infinite wisdom, has placed in my
life. People who remind me it is not as simple as black or
white. We share experiences in our lives that cannot be
compartmentalized into good or bad, positive or negative.
Most experiences at their core, at the same time happy and
sad, stressful and rewarding, and fair and unfair.
I think about these two creatures from my morning walk,
both created by God, both serving a purpose in the world.
Aside from the obvious physical differences, there are
striking social differences between these two creatures, as
well. Bullfrogs are solitary beings; very territorial, and
rarely meeting except to fight. Deer, on the other hand,
are more social animals that travel together, eat together
and rest together.
And we too, as the deer, enjoy company on our journey.
God created us to be social beings, to rest on each other
when things become difficult, and to share that which
brings us joy.
We are called to share our personal
experiences and to come together in our collective
experience as God’s family. In some moments when we
struggle to find common ground it is important to look for
the gray, the neutral ground, the sacred place where we
can hear and be heard.
Peter writes to those in Christian community, “Finally, all of
you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other.
Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted,
and keep a humble attitude.” (1 Peter 3:8-, NLT) He does
not say we must always agree, but he does instruct us to
respond to others with love.
He asks us to be the deer, not the bullfrog!
Peace and Blessings, Lori
Please remember that all functions held at Ziegels,
whether it is a committee meeting or an outside group,
must be scheduled through the main office. Scheduling
helps us to be sure there is a room available and that the
doors to the Church are unlocked.
Thank you to…….
