Synod reps and their family members will have the pleasure of enjoying these activities as an option. Grand Kampar Hotel is a Four-star hotel in a newly developed area, near the UTAR and KTAR, with numerous new restaurants. It has considerable experience hosting church events with even a special church coordinator to assist us. TRAVEL: There are regular trains between Seremban / Kuala Lumpur to Kampar, taking only about 2 to 3 hours. Trains and buses from north are less frequent. Those travelling by car can exit the Highway at Tapah (from the south) or Gopeng( from the north). EXHIBITS: The Synod should provide an opportunity to show and inform about the activities of the various churches and ministries. There will be place to exhibit posters (firm boards), handicrafts or other products for exhibition or even for sale. SYNOD MAGAZINE: SYNOD ‘11 St Peter’s Church has been given the pleasant responsibility to organize this year’s Synod to be held at Grand Kampar Hotel in Kampar (on Bishop’s suggestion). We have decided that all the events will be held at the hotel, instead of wasting time and energy travelling between the host church in Ipoh and Kampar (35 km away). Kampar is near the mission work of AVM in Mambang Di-awan and the Orang Asli ministries in Gopeng and Simpang Pulai and thus will provide an excellent opportunity for first hand experience with our local missions. Arrangements will be made to include them in the programme. It is surprising that there is no annual Diocesan magazine all these years to record the activities and the committees for the year. We plan to publish the Synod magazine for this year. Each parish/missionary district and each Diocesan Board / Committee will be given one page to report on their activities. Obviously, only highlights will be published. Photographs will be recommended. Bigger parishes may be given an extra page. However the church or committee will need to pay RM200 for each page (RM250 if colour photos are included). Brief reports and photos can include PCC members, types of services and average attendance, mission or social concern activities, special events e.g. food fair, health screening, public talks etc. Please send by 15 June 2011. TENTATIVE PROGRAMME: We have made some changes to the schedule of meetings and events to maximize the use of the time for worship, fellowship, discussion and visitations. We feel that there should be rest period in the afternoon to avoid “meeting fatigue” from 8am till 6.30 pm (more than 10 hours) on the second day. Since Kampar is a small town with daytime activities rather than night attractions, we have scheduled the meeting sessions in the morning and evening with the afternoon free for mission visitations and rest/fellowship. The total number of meeting hours is the same. Optional ecotourism activities can be carried out just before and after the Synod sessions. REGISTRATION FEES: Fees include registration, accommodation & meals Twin Sharing RM260 (Early bird by 10 July 2011) RM290 (Normal rates) Single Occupancy RM360 (Early bird by 10 July 2011) RM 390 (Normal rates) All registered delegates will be given conference bag, free photograph & souvenirs. (Note: optional ecotourism activities will be charged accordingly. Details later)
