features for selective helicopters
fitted with the GTN650/750 panelmounted navigators with V611
software, including the Bell
206/407Series, Airbus Helicopters
AS350B2/B3, EC130B4 and
EC130T2, and the MD Helicopters
MD369E/F/FF.
The upgrades, which can
be added by an authorised Garmin
dealer, include Wire Aware for
locating power lines, Fast Find with
predictive logic to speed up the
entry of waypoint and airport data,
customised check lists and flight
plan entry, automatic ally created
search and rescue patterns, fuel
range ring map overlay, and
animated Nexrad to depict weather
movement over time.
There are also additional
customisation options to allow
users to choose their own way to
configure data fields, show bearing
and distance to waypoints, and
enable custom messaging.

According to US company Jetnet,
used helicopter values in the United
States fell by almost 20 percent in
the first quarter of 2016, compared
with the same period last year.
Sales also dropped by around 19
percent although on average
aircraft sold faster, compared to the
first quarter 2015.
Turbine helicopter sales were
most affected, with used asking
prices falling by over 25 percent and
actual sales dropping by almost 20
percent. However successful sales
closed on average after 455 days on
the market, 45 days less than in the
first quarter of 2015. By comparison,
piston-engined helicopter asking
prices increased by 14.4 percent over
the same period last year. Sales fell
by 19 percent, with aircraft on the
market for an average of 389 days,
10 days less than in the same period
last year.
The poorer sales performance
in the first quarter was not confined
to helicopters however. Asking prices
and sales of business aircraft and
airliners also slumped in March,
compared to the same month in
2015.

Donaldson Aerospace & Defense is
to develop an Inlet Barrier Filter
(IBF) element for the H160
helicopter under an agreement with
Airbus, which would offer the
system as a factory-fitted option to
its customers. Donaldson would also
offer the IBF as an H160 retrofit.
The company expects the
IBFs, two per helicopter, to be
available by 2018, when H160
deliveries are due to get underway.
The Cotswold Helicopter Centre
has formed a joint venture with
Gama Aviation. The new partnership will initially start operations
with a single Cabri G2, although it
will have access to further Cabris,
a Robinson R44 and an Airbus
Helicopters AS350B and AS355
from the Cotswold fleet as
required. Cotswold will provide the
flight training, sales and marketing
aspects of the joint venture whilst
Gama will be responsible for all
aspects of safety management and
compliance monitoring, as well as
providing the facility.
The training element will be
the 11th flight training school in
the UK operating the Cabri G2,
operations commenced in June.

Vector Aerospace at Fleetlands,
Gosport in Hampshire has signed a
three year contract with HeliSpeed
Ltd to provide civil pilots for
flight testing and demonstrating
helicopters
refurbished
and
modified at Vector's UK facilities.
HeliSpeed, formed in 2009
by Capt. Geoff Packer, will draw on
a pool of experienced pilots to
cover aircraft types such as the
Airbus Helicopters AS332 and
H225 Super Puma, AS350/H125,
Leonardo Helicopters AW139 and
Sikorsky S-76 and S-92 as Vector
seeks to expand its maintenance
and test facilities. These include
supplemental type certification
and system integration activities,
undertaken in conjunction with
depth maintenance packages.
