Helimission is a nondenominational Christian faith based missionary foundation, composed of born again believers, who are dedicated to evangalizing the yet unreached peoples of the world with the Gospel message. Helimission’s crucial role is to provide transportation and logistical support for multiple mission organizations operating in locations that are otherwise inaccessable. Jesus Christ powerfully proclaimed: Matthew 24:14: «And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.» Revelation 5:9 states that Christ’s blood was shed as a purchase for God, of men, “from every tribe and language and nation”. Many passages in Scripture show us the urgency of reaching the remote peoples with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Organization Helimission is registered in the Swiss county of Appenzell Ausserrhoden, as a non-profit foundation and is thus exempt from taxes. Leadership Ernie and Hedi Tanner founded Helimission in 1971 and directed it until the end of 2001. In January 2002 their son Simon Tanner was appointed as the new director. Helimission‘s headquarters is in Switzerland with branch offices in Germany, the USA, & Australia. Locations Helimission maintains its own bases in Madagascar, Ethiopia and Indonesia (Papua / Irian Jaya). New countries are currently in negotiation. Crew Helimission does not have a mission program of it’s own. Approximately 12 pilots/mechanics and office staff make up the Helimission‘s permanent crew, who also assist other mission organizations. Fleet Presently Helimission owns ten helicopters, four Bell 206, and six Eurocopter AS-350. The total distance flown for missions would circle the earth more than 100 times. Finances Helimission is supported exclusively by private donations. In order to help the poorest, the users of the helicopters usually only pay the fuel costs. The majority of the flight expenses are borne by Helimission.
