comfort to your home. Only a SAVE-certified contractor can provide this rating.

it easier to fit in to your already
busy life. After all, saving
energy saves more than money;
it increases your home comfort
and makes your home a more
pleasant place to be. Plus, being
energy efficient helps conserve
our limited natural resources,
which, in turn, protects our
environment and helps to
ensure a robust energy supply
for our kids and future
generations.
*Motor must run and unit must cool.
To qualify for rebate: Alliant Energy must supply the electricity to the qualifying equipment. To schedule
a pickup, call 1-866-ALLIANT (866-255-4268) Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residential customers who join Alliant Energy’s Second Nature program can support
renewable energy equal to 25%, 50% or 100% of their monthly electrical usage.
For every kilowatt-hour supported, Alliant Energy purchases renewable energy from
sources within Alliant Energy’s service area and then adds to the power grid to
replace energy that would be otherwise generated from fossil fuel sources. For more
information or to enroll, go to alliantenergy.com/secondnature.
Operation ReLeaf
Alliant Energy’s Operation ReLeaf program offers Iowa residential customers the
opportunity to purchase high-quality landscaping trees at discount prices.
Through a partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources Bureau of
Forestry, more than 62,265 new trees have been planted throughout the state
since 2001 during 200-plus Operation ReLeaf events. The trees, which retail for
$65 to $125, are sold on a first-come, first-served basis for only $25 each during the
spring and fall planting seasons in select Iowa counties.
The goal of the program is to help customers save energy by planting trees to
shade their homes and create a wind break. It also promotes long-term community
reforestation and energy conservation through efficient landscaping. Trees for
Operation ReLeaf are purchased from local Iowa nurseries.
Appliance Cycling
To learn more, visit alliantenergy.com/releaf or call 1-866-ALLIANT (866-255-4268).
Appliance Cycling is a voluntary program in which Alliant Energy can cycle off
your air conditioner temporarily when electricity demand is high. The switch cycles
the air conditioner on and off every fifteen minutes during the cycling event, which
usually lasts up to six hours. Cycling events typically occur Monday through Friday
from 1 to 7 p.m. and never on weekends or holidays. In return, you receive an
electric bill credit of $8 on your monthly bill, June through September.
Branching Out
If you have an electric water heater and also allow Alliant Energy to cycle it off
during peak periods, you will receive an additional $2 credit on your monthly bill.
Unlike air conditioners, water heaters are turned off for the entire duration of the
cycling event.

Branching Out is a nationally-recognized grant program where Alliant Energy, Trees
Forever and your community work together to fund and implement tree-planting
projects. Celebrating more than two decades of plantings, the program encourages
energy efficiency, environmental awareness, and community stewardship in Iowa.
Branching Out is offered exclusively to Iowa communities where Alliant Energy
provides electric and/or natural gas service. The utility provides grants of $1,000
to $10,000 for community-based, tree-planting projects - like parks, gateways,
cemeteries, nature trails, libraries, schools and more. Trees Forever administers and
facilitates the program, providing educational and planning support.
To apply for a Branching Out grant, complete an application form online at
alliantenergy.com/branchingout and submit a site plan, budget and proposal letter
that addresses ten key areas (see proposal letter guidelines on the application). The
process is competitive and preference is given to applicants that meet all guidelines.
Grant application deadlines are June 1 and November 1, and grant awards are
awarded two times per year, to coincide with the spring and fall planting seasons.
Proposal letters and applications are accepted on an ongoing basis throughout the
year, but are considered only in the next grant-making cycle (spring or fall). Your
community may apply and receive funding for multiple projects in a single grant cycle.
