Emmy Award-winning anchor,
Thirteen/WNET (PBS) and NJTV(PBS)
Steve Adubato has had an enormous impact on helping raise awareness
about aphasia in the tri-state area, thanks to his powerful reach in TV and
radio. He has frequently provided us with valuable air time to help us reach
people with aphasia throughout his broadcasting region. Having served as
our Master of Ceremonies for every one of our Galas, he has given his time
and talent to help lead each event to its success.
Steve Adubato, PhD, has enjoyed a distinguished career as an Emmy Awardwinning television broadcaster, author, motivational speaker, leadership
and communication coach, syndicated columnist and university lecturer.
Steve also served in the mid 1980s as New Jersey’s youngest state legislator
at age 26. Steve holds a doctorate from Rutgers University in the field of
mass media and communication.
Steve anchors three public television broadcasts produced by the Caucus
Educational Corporation (CEC) — Caucus: New Jersey, an Emmy Awardwinning public affairs series; New Jersey Capitol Report, a weekly program
covering New Jersey’s most pressing policy issues; and One-on-One with
Steve Adubato, CEC’s nightly public television series that brings viewers
in-depth interviews with some of the region’s most compelling personalities,
including artists, authors, health experts, politicians, and sports icons, as well as
“ordinary” people who accomplish extraordinary things.
CEC programming airs on PBS stations Thirteen/WNET (the PBS flagship
station in New York), NJTV (New Jersey’s public television station), and
WHYY-TV 12 (Philadelphia public television). CEC programming also airs on
Verizon FiOS1, is carried on NPR radio stations WNYC and WBGO and can be
found online at SteveAdubato.org.
In addition to his work on public television, Steve regularly appears on the
TODAY Show, CNN, FOX News and FOX5 in New York as a media and political
analyst. Steve has also done significant work on the radio by offering
contributing commentary on NPR, as well as top radio stations in New York
including 77WABC, WOR 710 and AM970.
Steve is the best-selling author of four books, Speak from the Heart, Make the
Connection, What Were They Thinking? and You Are the Brand as well as his
soon-to-be-published book, Lessons in Leadership.

2015 HONOREE
Hackensack University Health Network
with keynote speaker, Robert C. Garrett,
President and CEO
HackensackUHN has been a longtime supporter of the programs and services
of the Adler Aphasia Center since our doors opened. As a partner of our
Education and Training program, hundreds of medical residents and interns
at HackensackUHN have been trained by our staff and members with aphasia
in effective communication strategies when treating stroke survivors with
aphasia and their families.
Hackensack University Health Network is the New Jersey-based parent
company of HackensackUMC, the HackensackUMC Foundation, Hackensack
University Medical Groups, and corporate joint venture partners with LHP
Hospital Group (Plano, TX) in ownership of two hospitals: HackensackUMC
at Pascack Valley and HackensackUMC Mountainside. In April 2015,
HackensackUHN welcomed Palisades Medical Center as a full member of the
Network, marked by the execution of a definitive agreement. Together with
six other health systems, the Network is part of the nation’s largest healthcare
consortium, AllSpire Health Partners; with a total of 28 hospitals and service
area of more than six million people.
Hackensack University Health Network also enjoys clinical and academic
affiliations with some of the nation’s most well-renowned health systems,
hospitals and universities, including: The Statesir Cancer Center at
CentraState, CityMD, Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center,
Georgetown University School of Medicine, Good Samaritan Regional
Medical Center, MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, MinuteClinic, North
Shore-LIJ Health System, NYU Langone Medical Center’s Division of Pediatric

The Eunice and John Bustillo Family
The Rebecca and Anthony Iovino Family
THE BUSTILLO FAMILY
Eunice Bustillo had a stroke in November, 2003, just one month after her
40th birthday, and just a year after starting her own consulting business. She
had lost her ability to speak, read, and write and her vision was affected.
The strategies and skills she has acquired since joining our Center in 2005 have had
an enormous impact on her ability to regain her quality of life. While attending the
Center’s program, Eunice mastered the art of helping others while helping herself.
Her entrepreneurial energy still intact, she has been a driving force and is the
leading volunteer behind Something Special, the Center’s gift and jewelry store.
Eunice, her husband, John, her son, John Dylan, and their family all actively support
the Center. From volunteering to promoting the Center on television to John Dylan
writing about his family experiences dealing with aphasia for school projects to
generously donating to our programs and services, the Bustillo family thrives on
actively serving and enhancing the local aphasia community’s needs.
THE IOVINO FAMILY
Rebecca Iovino’s stroke in 2006 at the age of 37 brought her busy life to a halt.
A mother of two, Rebecca was an architect working with her husband, Anthony, at
his firm. Her life revolved around family and her bustling career.
Rebecca has rebuilt her communication skills and passionately pursued her
creative talents at the same time, specifically with our Something Special program.
She has excelled at creating unique jewelry designs, which she teaches to our
members as a volunteer now. Her hand made glass beads and fine craftsmanship
are the essence of the program’s “couture line,” creating one-of-a-kind jewelry
pieces for our discerning customers.
Anthony has served on the Center’s Board of Directors since 2012, offering
invaluable insight to the Board as a caregiver. The family acted as chairs for one of
our spring fundraisers and their children, Anthony and Joseph, were co-stars in our
most recent video which debuted at our 10th Anniversary Gala. The Iovinos are
shining examples of the generosity of heart and soul.
