Brown Bag Lunch - Our Savior`s Lutheran Church
FROM THE PASTORS
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ:
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! We live on
this side of Easter. The news of Christ’s resurrection from the
dead changes everything. It means we have a living Lord. All that
He said was true. There is a power stronger than death. Jesus is a
better savior than we are a sinner.
We are supremely loved, totally forgiven, and called to be
trusting followers of Jesus. He is absolutely trustworthy! We are
to orbit our lives around Jesus, then all of our loves in life will be
in their right order.
The Christian life is lived in a relationship with Jesus. It’s
not just believing the right things about Jesus. It’s following the
Good Shepherd, listening to His voice, and letting Him care for
you. It’s a call to trust and obey.
In Christ,
Pastor Lance E. Isaacson
Brown Bag Lunch
Men are invited to meet at noon on Thursdays for lunch
and Bible study. Each week the group looks at the next Sunday's
Gospel lesson. Pastor Isaacson leads the discussion. It's a great
time of fellowship and sharing. The group meets in the parlor.
Coffee is provided. So, men - come if you can (bring your own
lunch)!
“So when they had come together, they asked him, ‘Lord, is this
the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?’ He replied, ‘It is
not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his
own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come
upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.’ When he had said this, as they
were watching, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
While he was going and they were gazing up toward heaven, suddenly
two men in white robes stood by them. They said, ‘Men of Galilee, why
do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus, who has been taken
up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go
into heaven.’" (Acts 1:6-11)
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
We are approaching the end of the Easter season, culminating in
Jesus’ ascension and the day of Pentecost, the day when the Holy Spirit
entered into the apostles just as Jesus said it would, enabling them and us
to be Jesus’ witnesses to all the ends of the Earth.
It is the longest season of the church year, the Sundays after
Pentecost. Usually referred to as “ordinary time,” the time after Easter
until Advent mimics the life of a Christian. Christ is risen! He will come
again. In the meantime, we wait. We wait and we proclaim. We wait and
we serve. We wait. For most of the time in our individual lives, it’s
pretty ordinary. We accomplish our daily routines only to repeat the
process the next day. But, every now and then, something big happens in
our lives that changes us forever. Be it the death of someone close to us,
a new birth, a major accomplishment at work or in the community,
retirement, etc.
So, to, with the Christian life. We continue our routine of serving
Christ by loving others, coming together for worship, all while waiting
for Christ’s return and the joyful fulfillment of our faith. It is ordinary in
the meantime, but extraordinary in the waiting, because we know the
love of the One who is to return.

Mission Against Malaria
. No child, no person, should die of a disease that is both
preventable and treatable. The ELCA Malaria Campaign has
committed to raise $15 million (by end of 2015) to help prevent,
treat and educate communities in Africa about malaria and
eliminate deaths from this disease - for good. Just $10 is enough to
provide a family with an insecticide-treated mosquito net. A gift
of $50 could provide a course of medicine to help save the lives of
25 people infected with malaria.
Keep filling those M&M tubes with quarters and when the
tube is full, bring it back, dump it into the container and take it
home to fill again, and again. Your gifts do make a difference!
Thanks!
Thanks!
MANY THANKS to all who attended the piano concert on April
26 and for your donations to the Malaria Campaign!
Ruby's Pantry
Next pick-up is Tuesday, May 26 from 4:30-6 pm at the
National Guard Armory. Donation is $20 cash to receive an
abundance of grocery items. Bring your own boxes for food.
