MOVECHO
MOVECHO S.A é uma empresa Portuguesa/Suíça, implementada em Portugal
em 1989. Com uma área operacional de 16.000m2, a MOVECHO é constituída
por uma equipa dinâmica de 150 colaboradores, distribuídos por diferentes
campos de ação: desenvolvimento de projetos, design, engenharia de
produto, fabricação, comercialização e instalação.
Ao longo dos anos a MOVECHO tem implementando reformas de modo a
otimizar a unidade industrial e a sua estratégia. Inicialmente orientada para
a produção de mobiliário de escritório destinado à exportação, a MOVECHO é
hoje em dia, especialista na produção de projetos de Shopfitting para toda
a Europa. Nos últimos anos a área de Design tem sido o passo em frente na
estratégia da MOVECHO.

MOVECHO S.A is a Portuguese/Swiss company implemented in Portugal in
1989. With an operational area of 16,000m2, MOVECHO is constituted by a
dynamic team of 150 workers distributed throughout different fields of
action: project development, design, product engineering, manufacturing,
commercialization and installation.
Throughout the years, MOVECHO has implemented reforms aiming both
at optimizing its industrial unit, as well as its strategy. Initially geared
towards the production of office furniture meant for export, MOVECHO is
currently an expert in the production of shopfitting projects for all of
Europe. During the last few years, the Design area has been the focus of
MOVECHO’s strategy.

Inicialmente vocacionada para a produção de mobiliário de escritório para
exportação, a MOVECHO foi ampliando o seu espaço de intervenção de forma
sustentada, tirando partido da consolidação da aposta em Know- How técnico,
capacidade e qualidade de produção. Hoje somos uma empresa com uma
cultura de exigência, com elevados índices de qualidade e versatilidade que
construímos a partir dos nossos recursos humanos e do potencial produtivo
que asseguramos em todas as áreas da nossa atividade.

Initially geared towards the production of office furniture for export,
MOVECHO widened its sphere of intervention in a sustained manner,
taking advantage of the consolidation of its investment in technical
know-how, capacity and production quality. Today, we are a company
with a demanding culture, with high rates of quality and versatility which
we have built with the help of our human resources and the productive
potential we are able to provide in every field of our activity.

A SPHERICAL surge como resultado da descoberta de novos materiais,
nomeadamente a cortiça e da otimização de novos processos, desafios a
que a MOVECHO se propõe e tem como objetivos.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
We believe that constant research is the decisive condition that enables
MOVECHO to evolve, accompany and assert itself in the most competitive
markets. MOVECHO’s differentiation stems from the development of new
products and processes and from the identity it aims to maintain and
strengthen.
The creation of Design objects has been a growing field of action for
MOVECHO, as part of its research and development plan. The SPHERICAL
emerges as a result of discovering new materials, namely cork, and from
optimizing new processes, challenges which MOVECHO embraces and sets
as goals.

A MOVECHO promove a criatividade convidando habitualmente criadores que
se diferenciam pela forma distinta de estar no mundo mas sem se alienarem
dele.
Do arquiteto Miguel Arruda surgiu uma proposta aparentemente simples.
A SPHERICAL, constituiu um desafio quanto à ergonomia da forma e à natureza
da matéria escolhida, a cortiça. Desafio esse, que superado, é agora base de
uma ampla gama de opções que a MOVECHO apresenta e que não promete
como concluída, mas antes como um trabalho em progresso, com múltiplas
soluções.
DESIGN IS GLOBAL, DESIGN IS SPHERICAL
MOVECHO promotes creativity, customarily inviting creators that
differentiate themselves through their distinct way of being in the world
without alienating themselves from it.
Architect Miguel Arruda made an apparently simple proposal.
The SPHERICAL constitutes a challenge in terms of the ergonomics of its
shape and the nature of the chosen material, cork. This challenge was
overcome and is now the foundation for a wide range of options which
MOVECHO provides and which has not been concluded but is rather a work
in progress, with multiple solutions.

A SPHERICAL foi uma peça desenhada para habitar uma escultura e está agora
disponível para uma grande variedade de potenciais usos.
A intemporalidade da SPHERICAL, data de 1968 quando o arquiteto Miguel
Arruda criou uma pequena peça de arte que foi replicada em larga escala em
2010, no CCB em Lisboa, a Escultura Habitável, que está na origem desta peça
de mobiliário. Esta peça MOVECHO, distingue-se pela resiliência, ergonomia e
uma suavidade morna, características exclusivas da cortiça.
The SPHERICAL by Miguel Arruda
The SPHERICAL was a piece designed to inhabit a sculpture and is now
available for a great variety of potential uses.
The SPHERICAL’s timelessness dates back to 1968, when Architect
Miguel Arruda created a small piece of art that was replicated on a large
scale in 2010, at the Cultural Centre of Belém, in Lisbon - the Habitable
Sculpture - which is at the origin of this piece of furniture. This MOVECHO
piece distinguishes itself through its resilience, ergonomics and warm
softness, which are exclusive features of cork.

A MOVECHO estabeleceu como objetivo a produção de objetos de uso
quotidiano com o propósito de participar na identidade que pretende definir:
um Habitat reconhecível, um mundo MOVECHO que podemos experienciar em
diferentes momentos da nossa vida - na nossa casa, no nosso lugar de
trabalho, em espaços onde as nossas ações diárias acontecem.

MOVECHO established the production of objects for everyday use as its
objective in order to participate in the identity it intends to define: a
recognizable Habitat, a MOVECHO world that we can experience at different
moments of our lives – in our home, in our workplace, in the spaces where
we carry out our everyday actions.

especiais, a MOVECHO colabora em diferentes soluções para os projetos

About Cork
A cortiça é uma matéria vegetal, uma casca, colhida de nove em nove
anos de uma árvore muito especial, o sobreiro, que cresce nas regiões
mediterrânicas, mais particularmente em Portugal, onde existem mais de
720 mil hectares de montado de sobreiro.
Tem qualidades únicas e incomparáveis que nenhum engenho humano
ainda conseguiu imitar ou melhorar: muito leve, impermeável a líquidos e
gases, elástica e compressível, um excelente isolante térmico e acústico,
fogo retardador, altamente resistente à abrasão.
É um material que é cem por cento natural, reciclável e reutilizável,
qualidades essenciais numa sociedade moderna ambientalmente mais
amiga e menos poluída.
Os derivados utilizados pela MOVECHO na produção da SPHERICAL são
obtidas a partir dos procedimentos de processamento de cortiça natural,
sendo feita a partir de granulado resultante de detritos e de resíduos de
outras operações de processamento, garantindo toda a nobreza deste
material ímpar.
About Cork
Cork is a vegetable matter, a bark, collected every nine years from a very
special tree, the cork oak, which grows in the Mediterranean regions,
most particularly in Portugal, where there is an area of more than 720 mil
hectares of cork oak.
It has unique and incomparable qualities which no human inventive power
has yet been able to imitate or improve: it is very light, impermeable to
liquids and gases, elastic and compressible, an excellent thermal and
acoustic insulator, fire retardant, and highly resistant to abrasion.
It is a material that is one hundred percent natural, recyclable and
reusable. These are essential qualities in a modern and environmentallyfriendly and less polluted society.
The derivatives used by MOVECHO to produce the SPHERICAL are obtained
from natural cork processing procedures. They are made from the
granulate resulting from the debris and waste from other processing
operations, ensuring the nobility of this unique material.
