“So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified” Isaiah 61:3
Big Oak Ranch is a Christian home for children needing a chance. The
Ranch takes in children between the ages of six and eighteen who are
orphaned, abused, neglected, or homeless. Comfortable two-story
brick houses are home for up to eight children and a quality Christian
couple. Our houseparents provide the consistent love, discipline and
direction our children so desperately need and deserve.

Wills & Estates
Your will is one of the most important legal documents you
will ever sign. Yet, over 70% of American adults do not have
a will. Leaving your family without a will means that the laws
of your state will determine how your property is distributed,
without your input or desires. Is that what you want? Your
will is the primary way to determine how your assets will be
distributed after your death and offers you a way to care for
the people and charities who have shared your values. Please
contact the Business Office at (205) 467-6226, ext. 122 if you
would like to add the children of Big Oak Ranch to your will.

ON THE COVER
Casey is 17 years old
and lives in the
Hannah Home
with his houseparents
Zach and Leanne Jenkins.
What is a Resource Family?
A Resource Family is one in which a child (children) would come to
your home to visit for either a weekend or an occasional week away
from Big Oak Ranch. The time commitment here would be anywhere
from 2-12 times per year.
If you and your family are interested in ministering to our children, often
times becoming a Resource Family to one child (children) is a great way
to get involved.
Many of our regular resource families come to know and love the child
they are sponsoring and become an extended family to them, such as an
Aunt or Uncle would be.
Please contact Lynn Hazard at (205) 467-6226, ext. 1215 at the Girls
Ranch or Donna Duke at (256) 892-0773 at the Boys Ranch if you would
like more information on becoming a Resource Family.

ecently, a young boy left his meeting with me where I told him that he now has a
home and a family. It didn’t really sink in for him until he heard the boys in the
van (his new brothers) talking about “mom” and “pop.”
After he had listened for a while, he asked, “You mean
I get to have a mom and dad?” Just think – because of your support, we were able to make his dream of having a family come
true. You are definitely making a difference in the lives of our
children. This little boy finally belongs to a family who wants
and loves him. Thank you!
There are certain principles that we teach each and every one of
our boys who live at Big Oak Ranch. These principles can be
found in my new book, The Two Minute Drill to MANHOOD.
If you, or someone you know, is raising a son, I would recommend it – not because I know everything about childrearing, or
have always gotten everything right – but just because I have
lots of experience in raising children. Visit our website at
www.bigoak.org, and complete the order form (sample below)
to receive your personalized copy.
Our dream is for every child to have a family who is doing the
right thing – and to put Big Oak Ranch out of business!
Unfortunately, this is not possible in today’s world. So until our Lord and Savior returns,
we will continue to give children a chance, and with your help, make an eternal difference
in their lives. Join us.

John Croyle

I have so much to be thankful for. I am so thankful for all these great people in my life and I don’t know what
I would have done without them. First off, I want to thank Mr. John and Mrs. Tee for creating the ranch and all
they have done for me. I want to thank my uncle, grandma, and parents for helping me get here. I want to thank
Mom and Pop Hales for everything they taught me. I want to thank my houseparents, Mom and Pop Bolin for
being there for me and helping me through everything. Thank you Mr. Noel for helping me no matter what it
was. Mr. Tim, you taught me so much that will help me throughout life and I am so grateful for that. Thank you
Mr. Fuhrman for always helping me with the kindest heart and wisest words I have ever seen. Thanks to all the
auxiliary ladies and everybody else for giving me a chance.
I want to first off thank God for everything He has done for me. It has been a tremendous blessing to have
had this opportunity surrounded by godly, loving people who always believed in me through my ups and
downs. I want to thank Mr. John for everything he has done for me and for loving and caring about me. Thank
you Mom and Pop Bolin for loving me and believing in me. Thank you to all the staff members for the encouragement and the blessing you all have been in my life. Thank you to all my teachers and my friends for always
being there for me. It has been an amazing journey. And to my little brother, Cisco, thank you for making me
laugh in the littlest ways possible, for loving me through thick and thin, and being there for me when I needed you. Stay Strong! I love you lil bro! Jeremiah 29:11
First I want to thank God for getting me to Big Oak and and giving me the family that I have at the ranch. I have
had Big Oak as my family since 2001 and appreciate everything they have provided for me. I love my family and
am thankful to Mr. John and Mrs. Tee for their life at the ranch and all they do and making sure that I have a
safe and secure home. I know my parents, Rhona and Tony, will always be my mom and dad and be there for
me and I can always count on them. I want to thank them for being there always and stepping in and being mom
and dad when my biological family couldn't be there for me. I thank everyone who supports the ranch and look
forward to my future!
GRADUATION-- I can’t believe it is finally here! I would never have been able to do this without the help and support of the ranch and Mr. John and Ms. Tee. And, I certainly couldn’t have done anything without my Lord and Savior,
Jesus Christ. I would like to say thank you to my houseparents, Mike and Kim Perkins, for loving me and dealing with
me the past four years. It has been a long journey but we finally made it. I would like to thank John Jenkins for always
being there for me, whenever I needed someone to talk to and for being such a great friend. I would like to say thanks
to all my housebrothers: Nic, Alex, Leavy, JP, Craig and Aaron, for making these four years awesome! A special thank
you goes to my amazing resource family, the Pattons. They are the best ever! Thank you for being like family to me
and for just being there for me. Thank you, Mr. Patton, for all the late nights of “Call of Duty” and to Mrs. Patton for
all the great breakfasts. Gavin, you are a great brother and friend. A Big thank you goes out to the Echeverri family.
You have made these past two years fun and amazing. You have done so much for me and will always have a special
place in my heart. I would like to thank my mom, dad, Christian, Nicole, and all my grandparents and family for helping me through the years and supporting me 100% in everything I did. I love each and every one of you. Now, it is time
for me to GRADUATE and be a part of the class of 2013!
People have come and gone, and many years have passed since I first came to the Ranch. Honestly, I never knew
if I was going to graduate high school at all but the time has finally come…graduation. I just want to say thank
you to Mr. John and Mrs. Tee for all that you do for us and more. Huge thanks to Mr. Noel, Coach Kennedy,
and Jenkins for helping me through the hard times. And now to the greatest houseparents in the world, Jeremy
and Janet Cockrell (better known as Mom and Pop), we’ve been through a lot these past couple of years but I
want to say thank you for always being there for me and for being awesome parents to our whole family. Love
you guys!!! A massive thanks to Mom and Dad for everything and my big brothers, Anthony and Dominic, for
always pushing me. Love you all!!! Thank you to everyone else that has helped me. I am very thankful and
blessed. Started from the bottom, now we’re here….on top!

Well, it’s finally here….GRADUATION! I would have never thought this day would come by so fast. First, I
would like to thank Mr. John for giving me the opportunity and always believing in me. Second, I would like to
thank my houseparents, John and Robin O’Leary, for being there for me even though things weren’t easy.
Through all of the struggles and hardships, y’all were always by my side and I want to thank you for that. I would
also like to thank Mr. Noel for always believing in me and always knowing that God has a plan for me. And to
my housebrothers and sister, thanks for everything and putting up with everything stupid I did. I love all of
you!!!
I can’t believe I made it this far!! The ranch has been such a blessing to me over the past 4 years that I’ve lived
here. I just want to thank God for his amazing grace and everything he has blessed me with in my life. I would
also like to thank Mr. John and Mrs. Tee for working with me all these years. Also, I want to thank all the sponsors of the Ranch that make all of this possible, especially the Ladies’ Auxiliary. You ladies have been awesome and I love all of y’all. I want to thank Jenkins for always listening and giving good advice whenever I
needed someone to talk to. I want to thank Mr. Tim and Mr. Billy for never letting me take a shortcut and
teaching me to “work smarter, not harder.” Thank you Mr. Noel for being a great director!! Last, but certainly
not least, I want to thank my houseparents Zach and Leanne Jenkins, for putting up with me for the past 3 ½
years that I’ve been with them. Y’all are the best parents in the world and I would not be where I am today if
y’all had not been in my life. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you and God bless!!
I want to thank my parents Todd and Tracy Moore, Mrs.
Talley and Mrs. Calhoun for always being there for me.
I am going to miss all of you.
Wow! It’s finally here! It is incredible how lucky I am to have been here for over eight years. I can never thank
the Big Oak Ranch staff and supporters enough for believing in me and sticking with me. Thank you, Mr. John,
for allowing me to have a real home at the Ranch. I have enjoyed getting to know you, learning from you, and
trusting you. A special thank you to Mike and Kim Perkins. You have been true parents for me. I am honored
to call you Mom and Dad. A big thank you to John Jenkins is also appropriate. I love you, man. You have been
an amazing friend and social worker. You have helped me grow so much and I can’t thank you enough. Also,
a special thank you to ranch graduate, Jonathan Vickery. You have been a great influence on my life and I have
enjoyed learning from you. Also, I am blessed to have a tremendous resource family in Dr. Jeff and Melissa
Gunnells, and Taylor and Drew. Thank you for all you have taught me about life and about hunting, and for
all the great weekends at Cedar Lake Lodge. Last, but not least, I want to thank the Bernard family. You have
been like a second family to me. And, Steven, you have been the best friend anyone could ever ask for. Now,
I am looking forward to graduating and moving into a career as a professional firefighter. But, I will always
remain a part of the Big Oak family!
First of all, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for everything he has done in my life. I would
be nothing without his endless blessings. I would like to thank Mr. John and Mrs. Tee, Mr. Noel, Jenkins, and the
rest of the staff for making Big Oak Ranch the amazing place that it is. I will always cherish my time here. Thanks
to all of the teachers and staff at Westbrook for giving me a truly special high school experience. To Mom and
Dad, you guys are the best people I know. I love y'all so much, and thank you for everything. To Andrew, Britnee,
Haley, and Pat, thanks for always being there for me. To Michael, Nic, Craig, J.P., Leavy, and Aaron, thanks for
being great brothers. Stay strong and never give up hope that God has a plan for you.

This we believe. We must be good stewards of God’s blessings by:
A. ensuring that your contributions are used to enrich the lives of our children--spiritually, mentally,
emotionally, & physically;
B. maximizing every gift to its fullest; and
C. conducting every area of business in an honorable way.
This plan will ensure that your support is used where you & God intended - to relieve the suffering of children.
