Tutoring services will be arranged through Education, Inc. at the rate of $38.00 per hour for a maximum of five hours per week with an additional 33% for administrative and preparation time costs. e. Curriculum a. 17. 9 Approval for permission to create a “Community Service Club” at Hopatcong High School for the purpose of overseeing and supporting the new community service graduation requirement for High School students. The High School administration is requesting that two stipend positions be created subject to negotiations and placement on the supplemental contracts guide. Travel Approve the attached travel related expenses report as attendance at these functions and the work related travel expenses are work related and within the scope of the work responsibilities of the attendee, as promoting the delivery of instruction or furthering efficient operation of the school district; and fiscally prudent. Ms. Perrotti read the following resolution of School Board Recognition and Appreciation: Hopatcong Board of Education – February 4, 2015 – Regular Meeting Minutes Executive Session – Administrative Building – 6:00 p.m. Public Portion – Administrative Building – 7:00 p.m. 2 School Board Recognition & Certificates of Appreciation WHEREAS, The New Jersey School Boards Association has declared January 2015 to be School Board Recognition Month, a time that all residents might acknowledge the contributions made by our local school board members; and WHEREAS, The Hopatcong Board of Education is one of more than 581 local school boards in New Jersey that sets policies and oversees operations for public school districts; and WHERAS, The Hopatcong Board of Education embraces the goal of high-quality education for all New Jersey public school students; and WHEREAS, New Jersey’s local school boards help determine community goals for the education of approximately 1.4 million children in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade; and WHEREAS, New Jersey’s 4,800 local school board members, who receive no remuneration for their services, act as advocates for public school students as they work with administrators, teachers and parents for the betterment of public education; and WHEREAS, School boards strive to provide the resources necessary to meet the needs of all students, including those with special needs; and WHEREAS, Boards of education provide accountability to the public; they communicate the needs of the school district to the public; and they convey to school administrators the public’s expectations for the schools; and WHEREAS, New Jersey can take pride in its schools, which rank among the nation’s best in indicators such as high school graduation rates, class size, college entrance exam participation, and AP offerings and test scores. Now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Hopatcong Board of Education, does hereby recognize the services of local school board members throughout New Jersey as we join communities statewide in observing January 2015 as SCHOOL BOARD RECOGNITION MONTH; and be it further RESOLVED, That the Hopatcong Board of Education urges all New Jersey citizens to work with their local boards of education and public school staffs toward the improvement of our children’s education. Mrs. Randina distributed Certificates of Appreciation to those board members who served on the Board during the past year. 7. Superintendent’s Report and HIB Report Mrs. Randina announced the outstanding educators of Hopatcong School District and with Ms. Perrotti, awarded certificates to the recognized staff members. Mrs. Randina invited Dr. Edgerton to report each school’s activities. Mrs. Randina then discussed PARCC and read a letter regarding PARCC that will be sent to all parents and guardians. Lastly, Mrs. Randina discussed the monthly bullying report. On a motion by Mrs. Krowl, seconded by Mr. Farruggia and a unanimous roll call vote, the Board accepted the Superintendent’s Report, District/Schools’ Updates and approved the second reading and approval of the HIB Report for December 2014 and first reading of the HIB Report for January 2015. 9. Note: The presentation by Mrs. Valle Campo scheduled for this evening is postponed until next month’s meeting. 10. Acknowledgements/Correspondence a.
