Founded in 1978, Balteau carries out the design and construction of pumping and treatment facilities for drinking and waste water for local authorities and industrial customers.
It is also involved in electromechanical equipment for dams and locks.
Balteau became part of the CMI Group in July
2014. This two-hundred-year-old Belgian company
operates on the five continents. With over 4500
employees and turnover of nearly 900 million euros, CMI is a leading company in all four areas of its
business - energy, services, defence and industry.
CMI has elected to diversify into environment and
has acquired companies specialising in water, air
and waste treatment.
Within the environment section of the Industry
sector, Balteau offers water pumping, treatment
and purification solutions for municipalities and
industry. Balteau has also developed skills in electromechanical equipment for dams and locks and
in small-size hydroelectric production (<10 MW).
Based near Liège in Belgium, our company carries
out projects in Europe, Africa and Asia.

A sustainable initiative
Balteau is commited to achieving the highest quality on every project and works collaboratively and
attentively with clients to deliver results that exeed
their expectations.
Balteau factors in the local context, the technical
environment, the geographical situation, cultural
practices, etc., to design the best solution.
During preliminary studies that are discussed with
the different partners, fitting with the various configurations of each project are proposed. The choice
is then made in agreement with the different decision-makers.

Balteau endeavours to ensure the sustainability of
the infrastructures sets up. The training of technicians and the follow-up and advice for the maintenance of the equipment are generally proposed,
the aim being to guarantee with a long term view,
a real autonomy for the facility’s manager.

and subcontractors, and regularly subject them to
evaluation on the basis of objective criteria.

The design office is involved in three areas:
Overseas, assembly is carried out by local companies, but Balteau can nevertheless ensure the
management of the assembly operations via the
provision of an experienced supervisor.

The Balteau teams design solutions which best
integrate the different constraints of each project:

Overseas, Balteau fosters partnerships with local
design offices in order to ensure that it complies
with local legislation, regulations and best practice.
Manufacture
Balteau has two manufacturing workshops:

an
industrial pipeline workshop;

an
electrical cabinet wiring workshop.
Depending on requirements and the techniques
to be implemented, Balteau may make use of subcontractors. This is particularly the case for process
design and deployment on specific industrial sites
or in certain countries where the know-how of local partners can be very valuable.
Balteau’s technicians can also commission the facilities, at both electromechanical and process levels.
Operational assistance
During the operation, Balteau can provide its clients
with advice on the management of the process
and on the maintenance of the electromechanical
equipment supplied.
Balteau’s process engineers are fully conversant
with the latest remote management technologies
and can also coach the technical teams that will be
maintaining the process. Remote advice and visits
on request are also possible.
Special calculation software for the modelling and
dynamic simulation of different processes enable
us to test various scenarios and to optimise the
plant’s control parameters.
Research and development
Balteau follows the latest technological developments
closely and has a special team that researches new solutions,
partnerships and all general skills that might enhance the
performance of each project.
In contact with research centres, universities and scientific
partners, Balteau optimises the potential applications and uses
of the existing knowledge and expertise.
These efforts result in the application of new technologies, the
acquisition of licences and/or the development of new tools.

Training
Balteau is convinced that training is a particularly
important asset in achieving long-lasting installations and it can therefore draw up programmes tailor-made to the customer’s requirements. The training sessions proposed can take place in Belgium and
abroad; they can be technical to master the technology and/or operation and maintenance of installations or institutional to reinforce the management of
inherent structures.
PRACTICAL FUNDING
A S S I S TA N C E
Depending on the type of investment implemented
and to the part of the world where a project is to be
deployed, Balteau’s developments can benefit from
funding assistance. Cofinancing with European institutions or with other international bodies may be considered.
Within the framework of the Belgian development aid
programme, FINEXPO can most notably cover the cost
of funding (interest) awarded by a Belgian bank in the
foreign country where Balteau is developing a project.
This aid is subject to certain conditions, including the
non-profitability of the investment to be made and

In order to fund a project, FINEXPO has to be covered by the Belgian credit insurance DELCREDERE | DUCROIRE.
The Belgian public credit agency DELCREDERE | DUCROIRE is responsible for promoting international
economic relations. It performs this role in its capacity
as an independent public institution benefiting from
a state guarantee. It provides vital cover against risks
such as the possible non-payment of debts, contract
termination, illegitimate invocation of guarantees, etc.

On the strength of its joining the CMI Group, Balteau
can set up commercial credit with various financial
partners. These can enjoy the support of Finexpo,
mainly in terms of interest stabilisation.
Some projects may fit in with an environmental initiative for sustainable development and, in particular,
the reduction of greenhouse gases. They are therefore
likely to benefit from the funding procedures associated with carbon credit and the Clean Development
Mechanism (CDM).
