Winter Break Jan. 2 – NO School! Teacher Prep Day Jan. 3 – School Resumes A Message from the Principal….. Now that the cold weather has arrived, all K-­‐6 Wildewood students will be entering the front doors prior to school starting and will wait in the gym. Students should not be dropped off before 8:00 unless participating in the breakfast program. The breakfast program starts at 7:55 and students eating breakfast should enter the front doors. Students will report to their classrooms at 8:15. If you need daycare assistance prior to the start of the school day, please contact Amy Ekeler with Little Rams at 402-­‐898-­‐3491 as they have openings for the AM session. Heather Nebesniak, Principal Sandy Harral, Secretary Michele Morgan, Health Assistant School Hours: MTWF 8:15-­‐3:30 Every Thursday 8:15-­‐1:30 Save Pop Tabs Wildewood Cub Scouts are participating in a Pop Top Drive to benefit the Ronald McDonald House. The Ronald McDonald House recycles the aluminum and uses the proceeds to help provide housing for out of town families in Omaha due to a child’s medical need. Students can bring in tabs from pop cans and place them in the tote in the front hallway. Ask families, neighbors, and friends to help collect as well. Collection of pop tabs will continue until April when the Cub Scouts will deliver the pop tabs. Miss Klich’s Second Grade Special Event As part of the Boys Town Pediatrics Book Tour, the radio station The KAT 103.7 visited Miss Klich’s second grade classroom. One of the morning show hosts, Steve Lundy, came and read “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” by Dr. Seuss and talked to the students about the importance of reading every day. Each student also received a free book of their own to take home. The highlight of the visit came when the students were recorded reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the WIldewood Pledge. KAT 103.7 aired the recording on their morning show on Friday, December 7. If you missed out on hearing this event live, you can visit www.thekat.com to hear it at any time! Silver Spoon Award Congratulations goes out to Miss Klich’s class for recently winning the Silver Spoon Award. All students are working hard to earn this weekly award. Keep up the great work! Media Center Birthday Books Wildewood Library offers a fun way for your student to celebrate their birthday and also help the school library. To honor their birthday, students can donate $1 to the library and select a book to donate on their behalf . A sticker is placed in the book and the book is added to the library circulation. The cost is 50 cents per candy cane. Thanks in advance for your support! Wildewood Mission Ensuring learning success in a safe, caring, and progressive educational community. Hy-­‐Vee Receipts The Hy-­‐Vee Cash for Students Program continues through December 31, 2012. Please send your receipts to school, this includes gas receipts also. Hy-­‐Vee will donate $1 for every $200 spent in their stores. A Look Ahead: Winter Break—No School!! Monday, December 24 through Wednesday, January 2 School will resume on Thursday, January 3, 2013!! Sixth Dimension Members Congratulations to the sixth graders from Wildewood who were selected to sing with the Ralston Sixth Dimension. The students who were selected are: Daniel Ulrich, Nyakot Chol, Rachel Kelsey, Said Mercado and Sammi Callen. The Sixth Dimension group is made up of sixth graders from all six Ralston elementary schools. They will be performing this spring as they tour Each elementary school in Ralston and throughout the Omaha Area. BoxTops/Labels For Education We will start a new classroom competition after the New Year so keep saving those BoxTops/Labels! Results of the classroom competition for 1st semester will be posted in the next newsletter. Winter Weather Since the weather has turned cold, please remember to dress your student appropriately. They will need a coat, hat and gloves even if you drop them off and pick them up from school. Students will do outside for recess unless the temperature and/or wind chill is 10 degrees or below. Safety Patrol does not report for duty on days when the temperature or wind chill is 10 degrees or below.
